COMICS: MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE Teaser Reveals GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Creative Team

This October, Marvel NOW! Point One will feature a Guardians of the Galaxy story from the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis (Spider-Men) and Steve McNiven (Nemesis). However, who is the new character in the following teaser?! Check it out after the jump.

It has been rumoured for a while that Marvel NOW! would see a new Guardians of the Galaxy series from Avengers Assemble writer Brian Michael Bendis, and the following teaser (which comes courtesy of MTV Geek) seemingly confirms exactly that. A masked Star-Lord was featured on Adi Granov's cover of Marvel NOW! Point One, but the young blonde haired boy in the image below certainly doesn't seem to be him! (or is it?!) This is the first time that Bendis and artist Steve McNiven will have worked together since they brought back 'The Sentry' in the pages of New Avengers.

When I saw Bendis' name, I already knew I wasn't going to read this. It's a shame because I was looking to start reading GOTG.

Bendis for Guardians! No. Just no. Hickman for Guardians. :)

I enjoyed Bendis's work on New Avengers, so I'll probably enjoy this. Lets just hope they add more characters to the roster like Noh-Varr.

And I have no idea who this character is. Probably Starlord's kid or something.

Oh god, just terrible. I knew it was going to happen, but it's still just terrible to look at.

I can't wait to watch the Guardians mindlessly gab about fast food and relationships, and be jammed into the few personalities he knows how to write, regardless if it fits the character or not.

@Mrbluesky Agreed.

I dont know if anyones been reading his work nowadays, but its good. I also enjoyed spiderman(miles morales) and his run on spidermen was great to. So I'm looking foward to this.

Mcniven is great but Bendis has proven he cant write big team books. i will give this a chance because i love the characters, although Bendis has a history of changing characters to fit the "story" he is trying to tell.

Look at how much he changed the Noh-var Character.

He should just stick to Ultimate Spider-man and hurry up getting the new Scarlet out.

@Scuzz

He's already sloppily retconned Rocket Raccoon from being a raccoon that was given sentience to an alien that just looks like a raccoon.

For no reason other than he didn't read anything about the character and doesn't give a shit. I expect his whole run to be filled with lazy retcons out of pure neglect.

I don't mind Bendis. He's fine when he's writing street level heroes in a smaller scale story. He's Spider-Man is good, and I loved his Daredevil. But if there are two things he can't write especially, it's massive scale team books, and cosmic space adventures. And this is a massive scale space adventure team book. It's just a recipe for shit.

The Guardians that Marvel launched in '08 (issues 1-25) was amazing and I doubt this series will top it.

!%#! Bendis. Stay away from cosmic characters. And, can anyone still answer who the hell this new Nova is? How he even became part of the Corps? Last I thought, Nova was the last remaining Corp Member and died along with Star-Lord fighting Thanos...

with this creative team it'll be $3.99 an issue. I won't buy it because bendis can't write antthing but smart ass [frick]s, and the book will do the way of moon knight. gone in 12 issues.

great [frick]ing move marvel. for [frick] sake, [frick] bendis off to a non-writing role.

the problem with bendis is that he was spread to thin. i love his ideas and the direction he took the Marvel U in the past 10 years. but he just wrote so many books with so many characters that they all started to sound the same. can't really fault him for that, every writer has a voice. but overall his pros outweigh his cons.

Maybe its a new teen Starlord to go with the new teen Nova.

i can just see him turning Drax into Luke Cage and Gamora into Spider-woman. he will turn Phyla into the most bland character you will ever read. Groot will become the most eloquent on the teem an Rocket will be reduced to a series of one liners.

The more i think about it the less i am looking forward to this

Might have to check this out AFTER I read all those cosmic titles by DnA

SN: I going to read some of Priest's Black Panther run but what about Hudlin's run? Based on the IGN reviews, it's one of the worst runs. On Amazon, it gets good reviews. How did y'all like Hudlin's run on BP??

what this with all these teens being in stuff now-a-days?
when i was a kid i liked watching the adults handle things. never did it ever cross my mind that i wanted my heroes to be teens. even when i got into and read spider-man he was a full grown adult. it was special back in the 60's because he was the only one. but now you're gonna reboot every hero with some teen emo angst. it will make them all less important.

star-lord is the most obvious

i cant remember and would have to look at one of my marvel presents but i think starhawk has blond hair. Leading me to believe there is a chance is Bendis "Liked" a comment i made about starhawk months ago and more recently retweeted a comment i made about starhawk being my favorite guardians....
