COMICS: Marvel Spoils SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN Ending/AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Status Quo?

Marvel have released a couple of new teaser images for Original Sin, but the blurb which accompanies the cover featuring Peter Parker may reveal the outcome of Superior Spider-Man and the status quo of Amazing Spider-Man. Those of you hoping Otto Octavius is gone for good may be disappointed...

A lot of fans suspected that Marvel and writer Dan Slott wouldn't be getting rid of Otto Octavius at the conclusion of Superior Spider-Man, and it appears as if that has been confirmed in a new piece on Original Sin over at Marvel.com. While talking about Spider-Man being one of the suspects in the hunt for the murderer of The Watcher, the site adds: "Does Otto Octavius have enough of a hold on Spider-Man that he could have committed the deadly deed?" It sounds as if the newly resurrected Peter Parker will still be sharing a body with Doctor Octopus, presumably in the same way that a part of Peter's consciousness has been trapped in Otto's mind. It's worth noting that the solicitation for issue #2 of Amazing Spider-Man states, "That thing that freaked you out last issue? There’s more on that. The return of you-know-who? There’s MUCH more on that." So, will the villain be fighting for control, influencing Peter, or working with him? Regardless of which it is, it's unlikely to please fans who were looking forward to REALLY having the Amazing Spider-Man back. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts on this news in the usual place!

also, i suppose this is my rare opportunity to say 'first'.

Instead ill say that, I WAS a fan of this doc spidey thing, but its gone on too long. the goblin wars was a great way to say goodbye to a very cool run and get pete back in the body. watching him dealing with all the chaos he's left with is great classic spiderman too. pity.

Clone Saga 2.0, this sounds like another Hot Mess in Spidey canon. Why's it so hard to write Spidey comics for more than 2-3 years without botching it?

Is that even the real Spider-Man?

You only see half his face, it could be someone else entirely.

Stranger things have happened.

Dethpillow is one of my favorite posters around here and I couldn't agree more. I want Dan Slott writing the Amazing Spider-Man forever, he has been doing one of my all time favorite runs with the character and I never want to see him go. Superior Spider-Man was awesome and I don't think there is a more talented and passionate comic book writer than Dan Slott when it comes to Spider-Man. Can't wait for the Amazing Spider-Man's return!!

“To do that for a solid year of my life, that’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do — to look small children in the eye at a convention and lie to them,” says Slott. “One of them with an honest-to-God Little League uniform and a quivering lip. Inside, part of me was dying.”

He did, however, cave under the pressure when he met actor Andrew Garfield on the set of “Amazing Spider-Man 2.” After the actor who plays Parker on the big screen expressed his shock over the death of the beloved character, Slott admits he dropped some secretive hints.

“(Parker’s coming back) just in time, fancy that, for a major Spider-Man motion picture,” quipped Slott. “It seems uncanny. It was very nice for Sony to schedule the movie around the story.”

I love the people who complain about the run of Superior are the ones who clearly don't read it. Before all of this, Spider-man was a bore. Seriously, I stopped reading Amazing because it's nothing like the Spider-man I had intended to read. He had it all and his main problems was girlfriend problems. But when Superior came and after that first comic, I was hooked unbelievably. I don't really want Pete to come back, even if it's destined to happen. Please let Pete's return be small.

Looks like there's no reason for me to start buying Spiderman any time soon. I dropped this mess at One More Day and haven't picked up an issue since. In the words of Ben Grimm...."what a revoltin' development!"
