COMICS: Secret Letter Column In SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #1

Dan Slott jokingly replies to a fan asking about when's the next time he'll be able to buy Amazing Spider-Man again, 'See you in a few years.... Amazing Spider-Man is DEAD!'

(Thanks to SuperPodcasto via /Film.) As you can expect most of the questions were about when fans can expect to see a return to normalcy in Marvel's premiere Spider-Man book. Slott and editors Steve Wacker and Ellie Pyle definitely had fun with the answers.

@LEVITIKUZ

Seriously... it's comics. They're storylines are getting more and more dull. This new twist is shaking things up in the way that Miles Morales was probably intended do, but failed.

I am enjoying this.

I do not love or hate this story. I'm not a fan of how ASM 700 ended nor Superior Spidey, but it intrigues me what their ultimate plan is, so I'm sticking to it!

@Asterisk- I'm sorry, but I'm reading Scott Snyder's Batman and Mark Waid's Daredevil. I don't think I'm missing out on anything important.

I read Superior #1 and it really helped clear up some doubts about this whole thing, but I still hope they don't drag this out for too long. Like if they go back to Pete and still call it Superior I won't really care, but if they have this whole Spider Ock thing out for too long I will be pretty annoyed. If Peter regains control and still has some Doc Ock consciousness for a while, whatever, but the current dynamic can't last more than like a year

@CaptainObvious

So am I (and admittedly both are better written than this book) but I'm enjoying all 3, along with the other books I'm buying, which some people don't like. Sue me. I just wanna read a story where Doctor Octopus is going around as a super-hero for a few months. It keeps me entertained, even if not on the level that Snyder's Batman and Waid's Daredevil are.

It's obvious that Marvel will reset the status quo of this sometime in the future but seriously why buy crap when people already want the status quo back to normal with Peter Parker back at the helm...

The Sad part is that you cannot rewrite the History books and this will always be the big black dark stain in Spideys history that can never ever be removed...

SHUT IT DOWN MARVEL...NOW...

If this video is any real indication of who Dan Slott is then I have gained the understanding of two things. One, Dan Slott does not care what the majority of fans think, because they do not know his whole plans for Doc Ock. Two, he is very hurt that the majority of fans do not like what little they have seen to date, and that they are not willing to give him a chance. It is sad that he is over aggressive against those who show disdain towards his idea. He would win over more fans if he showed a little empathy towards their concerns and tried to express that his direction of Doc Ock may be entertaining. One thing that should be clear though is that this is not Spider-Man. Dan Slott is not writing a story about Peter Parker, Spider-Man. Dan Slott loves the character Doctor Otto Gunther Octavius. They share similarities physically, emotionally, and mentally. You might ask how I can reach that conclusion? Having read Spider-Man for years I have seen Doctor Octopus' reacts to people around him. He does not care what they think, because he believes his plans are justified. Anyone can visually see Dan Slott shares Doctor Octopus' physiology. They are both obese and out of shape. Requiring mechanical arms or in Dan Slott's case writing utensils, to move and convey ideas. Emotionally Doctor Octopus is a raging child with a brilliant mind. Dan Slott's actions in this video show him to be the same. So, one can see he is writing stories about Doc Ock that have nothing to do with Spider-Man. The whole Peter Parker 'haunting' angle is there only as a tool for internal plot developments for Doctor Octavius. I do not like what little I know of Dan Slott's idea, because it does not interest me. Doctor Octopus is a villain who stole Spider-Man's body. In a world with Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Hank Pym, Professor Xavier, and the list goes on, this would never stand. All the heroes would give effort to arrest and imprison the body thief known as Doc Ock. So, there is no comic book realism to this story line. Dan Slott loves Doc Ock so much he is breaking what would be the real reacts of other seasoned heroes to tell a story about Doctor Octopus' rehabilitation. A rehabilitation that will only last as long as the Peter Parker 'haunting' exists. It is all empty shock value. Like in the case of Howard Stern people will read Dan Slott's Superior Doctor Octopus, because they hate it, and want to know what more they can hate from the next issue. What I can say is that if Marvel really does plan on keeping this Superior Doctor Octopus around I will not read it. Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man's body has the same appeal to me as Toad from the Brotherhood taking over Wolverine's body. A one time story filler comic at best, or maybe an issue of What If?. However, as long as fan buy the comic Dan Slott will be allowed to continue. See, we the fans could end what Dan Slott is doing to Spider-Man, but we will not. No, instead we will make threads to wine and moan about it, but then run out and purchase the next issue. That way we have more things to wine and moan about. Our money fuels this story line from Dan Slott and the ONLY thing that can end it is if we stop buying Spider-Man titles. Otherwise, it will go on and on and on and on forever. We will slowly see more of those characters we love being bent over wooden logs and made to squeal. So, either stop buying Spider-Man and end this mockery of an idea of our heroes being indwelt by our villains makes for a passable story arch; or shut up and live with it, because you are paying them to print Dan Slott's ideas when you buy a Spider-Man title.

I don't much care for how they're so carefree over the fans complaints, but I'd be lying if I say I didn't just laugh my ass off to how Dan answered some of the questions. That was hilarious.

Dan though, I'm not feelings so good about the guys health. He looks like he's two burgers away from a medical condition. He needs to diet ASAP.

Of course one should have a thick skin towards critics but his clear disregard for fans is another reason I wont being buying this book. Waving bye, "see you in a few years"????? Really??? Dose he really not care about loosing fans? He could at least said " I can ASSURE you, that if you continue to read Superior you will not be disappointed." But Bye??? Well Im not buying the Parker ghost, and this just lets me know he will be getting his body back sooner or later. So say bye to my money.

Wow, this explains a lot of what kind of people is working at Marvel now, what a bunch of a-holes!!! A jerk can't write stories about a decent person taking upon himself, so he has to lower the character to his level. Now instead of reading this crap, I will save my money.

Does anyone realize that they have killed so many characters and brought them back. Captain America, Jean Grey and many other characters that were some how sent to another universe or body and comes back to their own? I don't like the direction that marvel is taking but I don't think they are dumb enough to remove one the most popular characters they have along with many others that keep returning. DC Comics did it with theirs just before the new 52 line and brought back the previously deceased. Peter Parker is NOT DEAD. Example, Batman was thought dead and was actually.... Sent back in time and came back. I think this video just shows them shrugging off in a smart ass way that he is dead, Their are hints upon hints in the last issue of it. Nuff Said
