COMICS: Two Page Sneak Peek Of John Cassaday's Artwork From UNCANNY AVENGERS #1

It's the funeral of an X-Men legend in this sneak peek at two more pages from Rick Remender (Venom) and John Cassaday's (Astonishing X-Men) Uncanny Avengers #1. Marvel E-i-C Axel Alonso also comments on how he convinced the artist to return to the world of comic books.

John Cassaday's last major work at Marvel was with Joss Whedon on Astonishing X-Men; a run which ended way back in 2008. That made the announcement of him being the ongoing artist on Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers all the more surprising, and Comic Book Resources recently asked Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso about how he went about bringing the artist back to the House of Ideas. Also below is a brand new two page preview from the issue which clearly features Wolverine (and Rogue) preparing for the funeral of Charles Xavier.

"I met John at his favorite watering hole and leveled with him, said, 'This series set the tone for the next decade’s worth of Marvel publishing and I’d kill for you to draw it.' Then I gave him the series outline and a sampling of Rick’s work, most notably Uncanny X-Force, and that was that. A few days later, John texted me and said, he liked it. Shortly after, we closed a deal. The orders for Uncanny Avengers are insane, and it’s a team effort, but John's role in putting us through the stratosphere can't be underestimated. He's a one-of-a-kind artist.

Even Superman said, "Let us pray for a ressurection" at the funeral of Martian Manhunter in Final Crisis. You'd think the mutant and Superhero community would be so used to this by now that they'd expect it.

How come everybody in comics gets upset when somebody dies, especially if that person has died several times?

Death is hardly ever permanent in comics. The only characters I know of that stayed dead forever are Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben.

I believe it's because when characters would die back in the day it meant they were dead for more than couple of month, so it meant something because we would be left waiting for the day that character if and when they would be back.

For me when superman died i was devastated i first heard of his death on CNN.same with colossus when I heard about it and how big it was but he was back in the next year or two.
so when a character dies now a days he/she is back by dinner time.

it's foolish and gullible fans like Stigmartyr that give fans a bad name.
It's not a big deal. He's going to be literally shat back to life in a few issues time and everybody's gonna act like it was no big deal.
Boo-freaking-hoo.

Cassaday shouldve stayed away from comics. His art is terrible. If Granov would be on art then maybe I would give it a look...as far as Im concerned, the X-books are [frick]ing dead.[frick] you Quesada.

"Here we are, again, mourning the death of Charles Xavier, again, until he comes back, again." Prof X's Eulogy. I can see it now.

Stigmartyer- Sorry you sound naive and optimistic, but a lot of us comic fans on here have read comics long enough to see Xavier and other characters get killed and come back over and over. It does make it seem meaningless and, in our minds, disprespectful to the CHARACTER because the publisher is just using their death to sell mags with no plan to keep them dead. We have a damn good reason to be jaded.

no redemption for modern Cyclops, thats the whole reason they brought in alternate dimension teen Cyclops, so they could have their cake and eat it too. I [frick]ing hate alternate reality, future, clone, alien resurrection continuity, just let the comic be as realistic as a comic about mutants can.

No redemption for a guy who was possessed and killed one guy? But Jean Grey (killed a planet) and Scarlet Witch (depowered almost the entire mutant race, directly leading to the deaths of thousands, plus killing Hawkeye, Vision, and Jack of Hearts) are A-OK?. Logan's a crime boss and has murdered innocents before, in his berserker rages. Professor X was part on Onslaught for f***'s sake! Scott will be a good guy as soon as Bendis moves on to ruin another franchise.

Considering how slow an artist he is I wonder how long before we get a Delay/fill in. I mean the Astonishing was consistently late.
