COMICS: Two Page Sneak Peek Of John Cassaday's Artwork From UNCANNY AVENGERS #1

It's the funeral of an X-Men legend in this sneak peek at two more pages from Rick Remender (Venom) and John Cassaday's (Astonishing X-Men) Uncanny Avengers #1. Marvel E-i-C Axel Alonso also comments on how he convinced the artist to return to the world of comic books.

John Cassaday's last major work at Marvel was with Joss Whedon on Astonishing X-Men; a run which ended way back in 2008. That made the announcement of him being the ongoing artist on Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers all the more surprising, and Comic Book Resources recently asked Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso about how he went about bringing the artist back to the House of Ideas. Also below is a brand new two page preview from the issue which clearly features Wolverine (and Rogue) preparing for the funeral of Charles Xavier.

"I met John at his favorite watering hole and leveled with him, said, 'This series set the tone for the next decade’s worth of Marvel publishing and I’d kill for you to draw it.' Then I gave him the series outline and a sampling of Rick’s work, most notably Uncanny X-Force, and that was that. A few days later, John texted me and said, he liked it. Shortly after, we closed a deal. The orders for Uncanny Avengers are insane, and it’s a team effort, but John's role in putting us through the stratosphere can't be underestimated. He's a one-of-a-kind artist.
