Stan Lee has created (or co-created) hundreds of characters, but rather than offer you a ridiculously long list featuring every single one of 'em, here's a selection of those best known to comic and non-comic fans alike. There are obviously going to be some fan favourites missing from the list so please sound off in the comments below with anyone you also happen to think should be taken into consideration when we publish the results.

I have to give it to Magneto on this one. A jewish child during the holocaust turning into a member of the "master race." Just genius if you ask me.

Spider-man riffed off of Superman and Batman. The X-Men was Stan Lee's best and most original creation.

@NinjaJesus I hearsay that the trailer won't be released until mid-January (likely with Underworld Awakening). But we can hope/pray it'll be sooner.

Hulk is my favorite here but honestly the greatest character he created was Spider-Man in my opinion. The best and most creative, great villains too

Iceman and Thor are two of my favorite superheroes of all time, but Spider-man is Stan's and Marvel's masterpiece.

This Poll isn't fair at all. There are so many to choose from. I would say the character that has had the strongest connection to the most people would have to be Spider-Man. He let every young boy who ever read his stories know that it was okay to not be cool or to be a nerd.

I think we all know that Spiderman is gonna win. I vote for Spiderman but X-men is a close second.

Spider-Man, hands down. It was Spidey that first started the down-to-earth and relatable superhero trend. He revolutionized the comic book industry. The Webhead deserves his due

Definitely X-Men, followed closely by Spiderman, simply because they were both direct commentaries on life in the 60's.

X-Men is particularly impressive because it was a political statement about the very combustible racial atmosphere at the time, and was probably responsible for many children having a more open and accepting outlook as a result of the social parallels.

Spiderman was truly the first 'normal guy' Super Hero. The 50's/60's really saw the birth of the teenager. Peter Parker was so relatable because at the end of the day, he was just a normal high school kid, with pimples and other problems that the average american kid was having too.

FF was significant because it was his first truly iconic creation, but they're not quite as revolutionary a concept as the others.

Hulk deserves all the praise in the world, but at the end of the day, he's just a watered down combination of Frankenstein/ Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde.

Iron Man's a cool, ironic character, but didn't become a true A-Lister until recently.

Thor is Thor.

Daredevil is certainly one of his most creative and original concepts (a person with a disability, who's other senses are heightened as a result of this disability)

Deciding who his 'best' character was is irrelevant though. Stan 'The Man' has created more iconic and lasting characters woven into pop culture than any other writer since Shakespeare, and that fact is the the most important thing that needs to be remembered about him.

Nuff' Said.

@INSTANTJUSTICE Spider-Man was created by Stan Lee. Steve Ditko DESIGNED him after Stan Lee had already made him up.

patriautism
patriautism - 12/28/2011, 2:35 PM
@Neek2086 Because Wolverine isn't one of Stan Lee's characters. Wolverine was created by Len Wein and penciled by Herb Trimpe in 1974..

Given the list of characters to choose from, I'm pretty sure this article is a prank or a joke. Including Silver Surfer is the smoking gun. Either that, or the writer is an uninformed kid who doesn't know what he's posting...
