10. Annihilation Conquest/Adam Warlock
I've done a horrible job of hiding my level of satisfaction in thinking that Guardians 2 will adapt this storyline. The reason why it makes so much sense is for a few reasons, firstly, it utilizes Ultron; which would be a great way to use the AI in a way that is organic with the story. The comic also has a great way of introducing new characters and members of the Guardians team. Adam Warlock has been all but confirmed, and I'd place a lot of money on Moondragon joining the team. Phyla-Vell is also a viable candidate. Lastly, and I have to credit fellow CBM User DrDoom for this, but the storyline in the comics runs parallel to the events of Civil War, which in itself is receiving an adaption.
I was thinking of giving Adam Warlock his own entry, but I figure it's a tie. Just don't muck it up James!
9. World War Hulk
What happens when you piss off The Hulk, send him into space, and cause him to believe you've killed his lady-friend? Well, you get World War Hulk. A very basic story in the sense that it's The Hulk on a nearly unstoppable rampage. I think that like how Marvel has laid the early ideas for Civil War in films like The Avengers, similar early ideas have been placed for World War Hulk. Banner's lack of trust, his feelings of being used or contained. These are all reaching a boiling point, and for the sake of drama and good storytelling, I doubt they'll let the jade goliath simply simmer down.
8. Red Skull
Wait, we've already received a version of Red Skull on screen. Yes, but Marvel has him in some state of limbo. It's time to bring back Cap's biggest threat from limbo and make him a modern menace for both Cap and The Avengers. I suspect that Hydra will be placed against the ropes (so to speak) and will use the Tesserect to pull Red Skull out of limbo and back into the modern age.
7. Old Man Logan
With Sony and Marvel working together to bring Spider-Man into the MCU, the precedent has been set. Will Fox ever work with Marvel? I HIGHLY doubt it. That being said, if Fox had a choice between using MCU characters like Hawkeye in an adaption of Old Man Logan, or pairing him with a random X-Men, I would suspect they would want to use Hawkeye. While they could make substitutions, I think sticking with the comic isn't neccesarily a bad idea. This one is probably my biggest reach of all my hopes, but c'mon, who wouldn't love to see this on screen:
6. Michael Korvac
This is the start of three 'Avengers Villains' I'd like to see. Korvac is a great villain in the sense that you sympathize with him partially. He wants to aid and help mankind, although this is something that gets unnoticed as The Avengers fail to see this and join alongside Ms. Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight Korvac. His end is tragic, and I think would be a great extension of the themes introduced and developed in previous Marvel films.
5. The Illuminati
This one is simple, the idea of a group of some of the mos intelligent members of the Marvel Universe. Members of the Iluminati include Black Panther, Black Bolt, Iron Man, Yellowjacket (however this one might be difficult in the MCU); as well as previous members including Captain America, and Doctor Strange. Now I'm used to hearing "But Marvel doesn't have the rights to _______." It doesn't matter. Marvel has enough of the members to create a rudimentary roster for the Illuminati. I think with the projected path of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it makes sense that Marvel would want to incorporate a think-tank to lead the charge. I'd even make the argument that this is being started in Age Of Ultron with Tony and Bruce working on Ultron.
4. Norman Osborn
For those who read my article a couple weeks back, this may not be anything new but I'll use the afforded opportunity to build on my previous idea. Norman may be a Spider-Man villain, but like Loki, Dr. Doom, and even Red Skull; he transcends his arch-nemesis to prove himself to be a villain fo the Marvel universe as a whole. I would love to see Norman wreak havoc of the heroes. I don't want this to be construed as me asking for adaptions of Secret Invasion or Dark Reign, but rather this idea that he is more then just the Goblin we've seen both in comics and on-screen for decades.
"I'll return with a new plan and a new face. All these years, Spider-Man and his kind have dealt with a giggling lunatic. A madman. You've never faced the real Norman Osborn, a man with all his wits about him. Poor fools. Next time you'll never see me coming." Superior Spider Man Volume #1 31
3. Born Again
With Daredevil getting his own series, many people (wrongfully) assumed the first season would dive in head first with an adaption of arguably the best Daredevil story in the characters history. While I never was fully convinced Marvel would do that without setting up the dynamic between Wilson Fisk and Matt. This is something that while I want it to happen, it needs to incubate. This is essentially the Empire Strikes Back equivilant in that Fisk wins. He beats Daredevil, and it's both horrifying to see, but rewarding to see Matt fight back.
With the tone of the recent trailer, and the casting of Karen Page, I would put a lot of weight into this happening. The story may be a Season 3 type storyline, but I think it's a matter of 'When', not so much 'If'.
2. The Punisher
Once again, this is an offshoot of a previous article, I laid out my elaborate take on what would be a great way to introduce Frank Castle into the MCU. Common misconception is that Marvel is too light hearted to introduce Frank into the MCU. I think that's so far from the truth that it shows the ignorance of some fanboys. I can see us getting The Punisher in Phase 2 of the Marvel-Netflix series.
1. Kang The Conqueror
My numero uno choice. I've always been a fan of Kang. In my list of Top 100 Villains, I placed Kang at Number 9, saying, "What do you do when you amass centuries worth of technology and power; you conquer even more timelines to further your reign of power. Kang even successfully conquered Earth, something many other villains dream of. You have to respect what Kang is trying to do."
I written a handful of articles making the case for Kang. As much as villains like Korvac and Osborn would be great, I think a villain like Kang needs to exist. Whether he's the villain of Avengers 4, 5, 6, or 10. Doesn't matter Marvel, just make it happen!
