UPDATE: New Marvel NOW! CAPTAIN AMERICA And FANTASTIC FOUR Creative Teams Revealed

This week has seen the reveal of new creative teams for Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Deadpool, but the final teasers released by Marvel (via iFanboy) may just be the most exciting yet! This November, Rick Remender (Uncanny X-Force) and John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass) will team-up for a brand new Captain America ongoing series after current writer Ed Brubaker concludes his epic 9 year run in October. As with the other teasers, there is no artwork for the series just yet, but with confirmation that Brubaker is staying on Winter Solider, we now know who will be taking control of the Star Spangled Avenger in the post-Avengers Vs. X-Men Marvel Universe. Meanwhile, USA Today have unveiled another teaser which reveals that Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four will soon be in the hands of the capable creative team of Matt Fraction (Invincible Iron Man) and Mark Bagley (Avengers Assemble). Another also teases Matt Fraction and Mike Allred's (Daredevil) "Extended" which more than likely refers to Fantastic Four spin-off, FF...

UPDATE: MTV Geek have now posted another teaser, revealing the creative team of Simon Spurrier (Punisher War Journal Annual #1) and Tan Eng Huat (Ghost Rider) on what appears to be a relaunch of X-Men Legacy.

Well looks I'm dropping Cap, they just had to put Jr on the book. No amount of good writing is worth sitting through Jr art.

Sorry Remender. As awesome as you are I don't think there's anything that can convince me to pay for JrJr's artwork...

I don't get the Romita Jr hate. I thought he did very well on Spider-Man.

Definitely dropping Cap as long as Romita Jr. is on art duties.

Yep, that's it for Cap and FF for me. Not a fan of Romita or Bagley. These are two big time books, and this is who we get? Good job Marvel. They don't realize, the artwork sells a comic, the writing enhances it.

@intruder- Agree my friend, agree. JR has the talent but he uses a quicker much less detailed style to meet deadlines. And he does meet deadlines, that's why he and Bagley are go to guys for Marvel. Unfortunately, the comics suffer for it.
ATrueHero1987
ATrueHero1987 - 8/3/2012, 7:05 AM
I loved Bagley's art. Especially when he did Ultimate Spider-Man. I admit, I would love for Salvador Larroca or Olivier Coipel to draw the book for Fantastic Four, but Bagley is good!

The artwork nor writing enhances one or the other. They enhance each other. If either is off the book suffers.

I loved Romita's World War Hulk work. The inking helped a lot, a bland inking makes it look really blechh (see his recent Avengers run).

Guess I am the only one that likes Romita Jr. here. I think his unique style is visually appealing. I really can't stand cookie cutter art anymore. The longer I read comics the more I look for something different. Romita satisfies some of that different craving...

JR jr has not delivered the goods in a while. But he has always been great at displaying action pieces.

@intruder- we may have to disagree there my friend. Comics are a visual medium first and literary one second. When I go to the Comic store and see people flipping through books, they are checking out the artwork. Why...because the visuals sell the books.image comics was founded on this principle. All these Great artist left Marvel and created their own characters. None of them could write worth a damn though, and the books still sold like gang busters. And you can have the most beautifully written story but if the art is shit, no one picks it up. I'm a fan of Mike Dedota(?) art. Love his Secret Avengers stuff. But there are some issues that are drawn by a artist whose work I can't bare. I skip those issues. Hickman is the only writer I'll look past the art for. To me, comics are all about the artwork, I don't by them for the writer or follow the writers. There have been wonderful stories told in comics with artwork alone, no words. Try and sell a comic with words alone, no artwork.( that would be a novel). And we've all seen those comics that are ruined by word balloons and exposition squares all over the place. A great comic writer lets the art tell the story. Remember, how to create comics the Marvel Way, Stan Lee would would write a simple plot outline and let Kirby and Ditko COMPLETE the full story visually and he's add dialogue balloons to the artist vision of the story. That's why Lee doesn't take full credit, he knows comics are a visual medium, the artwork is what sells comics not the writer. A kid not old enough to read will ask his parents for a comic based on the cover alone. DC and Marvel will try and trick you into buying a book by having a great artist do the cover and a subpar artist, who may be fast do the inside( it's the comic book version of [frick]ing you at the drive through that joe Pesci rants with Chris Rock about in Lethal weapon). That's why you see people flipping through comics quickly, they want to make sure the cover artist did the inside art. They don't won't to get home and find out they got [frick]ed because they quickly picked up a book based on cover art alone, and the inside art was shit. So to me, the artwork is the doorway, the writing secondary. I won't read Alan Moore,Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman or any other great writers comic work, if the art is shit. I can't stand a badly drawn comic. It defeats the purpose of comic books.

Harris1 - 8/3/2012, 7:48 AM
@intruder, yeah I agree JR'S Kick Ass work is awesome. I think it has a lot to do with time. With Millar, JR probably had a few month head start, where he had a few comics completed and in the bag before the first issue came out. So he could do his most detailed work on the rest of the books, knowing he had buffer room. At Marvel, a lot of times they throw JR on a book that's behind it's deadline, so he sacrifices quality for speed. He's known for meeting deadlines. Thing of all the missed deadlines on the original run of the Ultimates. The detailed artist always need a buffer or artists like JR and Bagley to fill in for them a few issues so they can catch up.
Harris1
Harris1 - 8/3/2012, 7:55 AM
@Intruder, Agree with you on your Image point, Man...did the writing suck. Remember how they had to get Alan Moore and others to try and clean that shit up. I'm an artist so art over writing every time. A nice balance between the two is awesome. But when all else fails, I pick art over story. Exception Hickman's run on the FF was awesome. His ideas mind blowing, for that I put up with shitty art. I hope you're right and Remender brings out the best in JR.

I totally agree with Jr. ..I liked his older work. His stuff now is just f'ing horrid. I don't know if hes rushed by marvel or whatever, but he needs to slow down and do the more detailed work he used to do. As far as Remender goes...GOLD! He is writing 2 of the best books out right now with Uncanny X-force and Venom. I usually don't follow books because of writers but him, A&L are probably the best stories I have read as of late. Aaron was great on Ghost Rider runs, incredible even. After that its kind of hit or miss. Hope Jr. slows down and does a little better art or this will be dropped for sure. Speaking of poopy ass art though...did anyone else look at that HORRIFIC #1 for hawkeye...dear god that book looks goddamn horrible. Thats the last one of that book ill be buying, DAMN! Worst art I have seen in a book in well over 10 years!

I'm interested to see Fraction's work on Fantastic Four. I was just hoping to see Larocca come with him. Bagley's stuff was aces on Ultimate Spider Man but I hated his JLA stuff and I ain't too keen on his Avengers assemble work either. But maybe he'll surprise me.

Not a fan of JRJR's artwork too.

Don't like how he draws people's faces esp with those weird cheekbones.

It's getting better, I guess but still...
