VIDEO GAMES: Footage From EA's Cancelled MARVEL Game Showcases Captain America Vs Hulk

When it comes to movies, Marvel has done a pretty awesome job lately. When it comes to video games, they're pretty much nonexistent. We've seen some leaked footage of EA Chicago's cancelled fighting game creatively called MARVEL, but here's some new stuff with Cap fighting Hulk.

In 2004, Electronic Arts and Marvel came together to create some fighting games based on Marvel's comic book universe. The first game release from their partnership was 2005's Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. The game had a lot of problems. When it was released it didn't fly off the shelves as the price of the game had to be cut by as much as 40 percent less than two months after its release.

After that, EA and Marvel would have one more shot at a Marvel fighting game, but it was cancelled. EA and Marvel's partnership was no more. There's been many online videos about EA Chicago's fighting game called Marvel - heck at one time, Marvel and EA actually shoecased some footage from it. Here is a look at a fight scene from the game that features the Incredible Hulk and the Star Spangler himself, Captain America.

Hey @KingPatel and @NateBest , why isn't this article showing up under the news archive.

Looking at it, why isn't the article I did yesterday in the news archive? It hasn't been deleted.

This is pretty cool. Just like the canceled Justice League game. I think it could've had potential.

This is why fighting games should stick to 2D perspective. The camera was all over the place.

No wonder it was cancelled, looks like shit. I get that it's a prototype, but still.

The Fantastic Four game from the first movie was pretty fun, too bad people didn't give it a chance. For obvious reasons...

It looks decent, would definitely be a better alternative to the current batch of Marvel games. Though I'd still be skeptical about EA publishing it. What we need is Disney to expand Disney Interactive and acquire studios in the same vein Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment did with Rocksteady Studios and NetherRealm Studios.

Marvel needs to hurry their asses and release a fighting game.

Marvel is making a game with Telltale Games. Heard it will be very story oriented. The people who have done the Walking Dead games. They've said the Marvel game will be a very interactive and may lighty connect to the MCU. I've heard it may show what happens in between the films like Cap's other SHIELD missions, Blac widow and her origins in the KGB etc.

Marvel really doesn't care about video games anymore. Even their partnership with Telltale Games doesn't make any sense.

Marvel games nonexistent? Seriously? Besides all the Spider-Man and X-Men games which are far too numerous to list, there's also Marvel Heroes, Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and those are just the good ones off the top of my head.

@NateBest

Thanks was wondering about that :)

@GAThrawnIGF

Name me 2 very good Marvel game outside of Lego (because every Lego game is good) and MvC3 (which was just nothing more than an updated version of 2 with better graphics) that came out in the past 5 years?

All there is is Spidey Shatter Dimensions.

@Levitikuz

You've clearly never played MvC3, or even seen it if you think it's just a nicer looking MvC2

@CuddlyCereal

I have. It felt no different than when I played it in the Arcades as a kid other than the graphics are way better. Grant it, it's a better looking game and I loved fighting other people in it but it still felt no different.

Grant it, you had Capcom developing it so you expect stuff like that from them.

Any chance Marvel could make a game like the Arkham games? I don't know much about this stuff, would be cool though.

Marvel Future Fight on mobile is a fun game. I know its not a console game but its still pretty great. Wish would could get Ultimate Alliance 3, that would make my day!
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 5/30/2015, 6:23 PM
@jaysin420

There is zero chance at the moment. Marvel recently announce a video game developer they are working with and their style is nothing like Rocksteady's. More story driven than gameplay. It's good to be story driven but with how Arkham Knight is all about "Be The Batman" would be nice to have that feel with other heroes.
BANEofExistence
BANEofExistence - 5/30/2015, 6:24 PM
If Marvel wanted to make a game series similar to the Arkham games, I could only see Spider-Man, Captain America (maybe co-starring SHIELD and Hawkeye, Widow, Fury, Falcon), Hulk, Daredevil or Punisher...

Marvel vs. Capcom vs. DC vs. Mortal Kombat.

@Odinson2k14

Is that why MvC3 is still the show stopper at EVO while Injustice came out 2 years ago and is no longer at the event.

DC fanboys may like those games, but in the fighting game community they are a joke.
