CONSTANTINE Sequel Officially In The Works With Keanu Reeves & Director Francis Lawrence Set To Return

Well, here's some extremely unexpected news to take you into the weekend! It's being reported that WB is moving forward with a Constantine sequel that will reunite Keanu Reeves & Francis Lawrence!

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a Constantine sequel, with both leading man Keanu Reeves (John WickThe Matrix) and director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend; Red Sparrow) set to return.

Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful MindI Am Legend) will pen the script, and will serve as a producer under his Weed Road Pictures banner alongside Bad Robot's J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella.

The first film opened in 2005 and, despite a mixed critical reception, was a pretty solid success at the global box office, grossing over $230.9 million on an estimated $70-100 million production budget.

A follow-up has been long rumored to be in the making, but updates have been few and far between, with the most substantial news coming a few years ago when Peter Stormare, who played Lucifer Morningstar in the original, posted on his Instagram that a sequel was in the works.

While Reeves will reprise his role as John Constantine, it's unknown at this time whether he'll be joined by any of his former co-stars, including Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, Peter Stormare, Max Baker, Francis Guinan, José Zúñiga, Jesse Ramirez, April Grace, Tanoai Reed, and Michelle Monaghan.
