Matt Ryan's CONSTANTINE Is Finally Returning To Television...As An Animated Series On CW Seed

A live-action return for Constantine always seemed unlikely following its cancellation by NBC, but The CW has confirmed today that Matt Ryan will reprise the role in six or seven ten minute episodes; that's only equivalent to one and a half regular forty minute instalments, but still exciting news for fans.

DC TV regular Greg Berlanti is producing the show, and he'll be joined by the live-action version's co-creator and executive producer David S. Goyer. Apparently, there are no current plans for Ryan to reprise the role on television, but The CW President Mark Pedowitz said at the TCA Winter Press Tour today that they would like to see him back as his first appearance "added dimension" to Arrow

The original episodes of Constantine are currently on CW Seed, so this is a good place for the follow-up and it can now sit nicely alongside Vixen. Will you guys consider watching the animated series?

Hmmm that's rather cool. He will have voiced the same character in two different universes.

But now that I think about it, Mark Hamil and Kevin Conroy do it for the Joker and Bats respectively right?

If they cant get Matt back to voice Constantine, then theirs no reason to do this project

I will absolutely watch this, and hopefully the amount of fan attention that this attracts will encourage the CW to make "Constantine" live action again.

You know what? It's not the Hellblazer series I wanted, but I'll take it!

Hopefully it ties up the loose ends from the live action series with the Rising Darkness.

My god, DC really likes to [frick] Vertigo characters.

Also, Constatine is supposed to be from Liverpool or something, and from the few scenes I saw of Matt Ryan he seems to talk with an estuary (or at least "generic british") accent...?
Can't be sure because I'm not british, but if I'm right couldn't he affect another accent while acting?

They should just make it a BBC series akin to Sherlock. Setting the show outside of London was the first red flag that it wasn't going to last.

This is not what I wanted. I guess this means we won't get to see Dr. Fate, Phantom Stranger and Etrigon like was planned if Constantine got a second season.

I'll watch just about anything with John Constantine in it, that is, so long as Keanu Reeves is no where near it!
