Tim Burton came out to present a new clip from his stop-motion remake of Frankenweenie. The clip featured Victor and his classmates meeting a new science teacher. The clip really gives you a feel of the characters in the film and offered some good laughs in just the little we saw. Very excited about this project. Also mentioned in the presentation that there will be other monster-like pets (eg; vampire cat.)
For the upcoming Oz, the Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi along with Joe Roth, James Franco and Mila Kunis revealed new details and footage. The story will follow Oz, the future Wizard from the beloved stories. He somehow makes his way to this magical land and meets the three wiches played by Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. The various footage they presented revealed that, much like the original Wizard of Oz, this film will be featured in both black and white and then color once Oz finds himself in the beautiful land we all know.
SPOILER: Oz is described to be immature at first, eventually he meets Glinda played by Williams and falls in love with her. It's his meeting her that makes him start wanting to be worthy of her love and becoming the great Wizard we all know him to be. We'll also learn how the Witch of the West becomes so wicked.
Pixar presented the first six minutes of their upcoming project Wreck-It Ralph which takes place in the video gaming world. Wreck-It Ralph will follow Ralph, a villain from the game Fix It Feliz, Jr. He is having a type of mid-life crisis and finds himself wondering if there's more to life than just being a bad guy. This leads him to branch out to other video games within the arcade he resides and searching for his moment to shine and prove he can be a hero. In the clip, a few video game characters from Super Mario's famous villain Bowser to one of Pac Man's ghostly foes to Bison and Zangief from Street Fighter make a cameo during a sort of support group for villains.
Announced was the updated title for the studio's dinosaur flick which is now titled, The Good Dinosaur. Also, The Untitled Pixar film which Takes you Into the Brain. Or something like that... And Dio de los Meurtos which is due out in 2015.
And finally, for the first time anywhere, Pixar gave Cinema Con members a real treat by showing the first 30 mins of their newest film Brave. Just the 30 mins alone is fantastic! Visually beautiful; the various landscape shots look amazingly realistic and is such a treat for the eyes. Merida has already become one of my favorite new characters. Fantastic laughs, story telling and characters in the just the 30 minutes alone left me very anxiously awaiting for June to come so I can complete the journey Pixar is delivering.
