The People vs. Gorilla Grodd Has Added Another Iconic Flash Villain — Are The Rogues Coming?

Weather Wizard is reportedly joining The People vs. Gorilla Grodd, adding another Flash villain to the DCU series' growing roster of Rogues. Could the Scarlet Speedster himself be next?

With Murmur, Golden Glider, and Ambush Bug all confirmed or rumoured to appear in The People vs. Gorilla Grodd, it's looking increasingly likely that we could see the DCU's version of The Rogues assemble on screen soon.

The supervillain team is led by Captain Cold and typically menaces The Flash in Central City. At the very least, the HBO Max series is being populated with those on the Scarlet Speedster's list of enemies, with Grodd obviously chief among them.

Now, former Nexus Point News reporter @ApocHorseman has revealed that Weather Wizard is also set to make his DCU debut in The People vs. Gorilla Grodd. The unnamed actor reportedly only shot for a single day, suggesting this will be a one-episode appearance for the villain.

Weather Wizard was created by writer John Broome and artist Carmine Infantino, and first appeared in The Flash #110 in 1959. Originally using a weather-controlling wand, the villain can generate lightning, tornadoes, blizzards, powerful winds and other dangerous weather phenomena.

He is also a member of the Rogues, and in The Flash TV series, Liam McIntyre (Wolverine) portrayed Mark Mardon, who seeks revenge for his brother Clyde's death.

Will the Fastest Man Alive himself somehow factor into The People vs. Gorilla Grodd? At this point, it would be strange if he didn't, but we also can't discount the possibility that DC Studios gives him the Batman treatment or simply has Barry Allen (or Wally West) show up as a red blur on screen.

When The Flash does eventually appear, it seems he'll live in a city brimming with potential threats; then again, the comedic nature of the series could mean they're all about to become yet another punchline in James Gunn's DCU.

The People v. Gorilla Grodd follows a superintelligent ape who is convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. In an eight-part "true" crime docuseries, the Daily Planet's Jimmy Olsen reopens the case, investigating whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one of Metropolis' most famous murder trials.

The Max Original comedy stars Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Jimmy Tatro as Gorilla Grodd, and Superman actors Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.

The series also stars Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz. Their respective roles have not been revealed. Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault will serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers, with Yacenda set to direct all episodes. James Gunn and Peter Safran also serve as executive producers.

The People vs. Gorilla Grodd will likely premiere on HBO Max in 2027 or 2028.

At this point the only logical conclusion is that the DCU is a money laundering scheme

So it’s basically going to be DC’s version of She-Hulk, an unfunny legal comedy that wastes good villains?

Cool if true…

I could see a variety of villains showing up in this tbh whether it’s them making an appearance in Stryker’s island where Grodd is incarcerated , speaking at his trial or even flashbacks to his time pre-imprisonment.

However speaking of The Rogues , I would love a series on HBO/HBO Max where we follow the characters as they plan & execute a heist as we learn their backstories etc!!.

One thing I’ll say is I do enjoy the world building aspect of the DCU. It definitely needs more crossover projects though and it especially would be beneficial to have the rest of the Justice League Seven debut

@Kahron0 - I agree…

I like the world building and them showcasing the tonal variety that the comics can offer too.

They used the Man of Tomorrow sets and production which keeps the budget low and the appeal high.

I can't wait for this to come out. Mostly for the whiny babies who always magically show up when it's time to bash DC

After the BO phenomena that were Supergirl and Clayface, this is exactly what DC needs: The People vs. Gorilla Grodd!

I mean, I wish they just did a Rogues-focused show from the jump.

Mark Mardon, do you solemnly swear that you will tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
