It Looks Like DEADPOOL Will Be Rated PG-13

In an update that's sure to disappoint fans, we have word that Fox's Deadpool movie has succumbed to that dreaded PG-13 rating. Though star Ryan Reynolds was fighting for the R, his latest Tweets on the matter would seem to confirm this news. Click on for more...

We know Ryan Reynolds was campaigning hard for an R-rating when his solo Merc With A Mouth movie finally slices its way into theaters, but it seems he's lost the battle; and any slicing will commence in a nice, safe, PG-13 environment. JoBlo reckon they've confirmed this with a source at Fox, but even if you were sceptical given today's date, the following Tweet from Reynolds at the very least suggests that his pleas for an R-rating have fallen on deaf ears.

Of course Tim Miller is only shooting the movie now so there's still time for this to change, but it sounds as if the studio is pretty dead set on bringing this in at a PG-13. Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, and Ed Skrein and will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.

I think it'd be a funny approach for them to have Deadpool swear loads, but bleep out all his cuss words. And maybe have censor bars over the nudity.

Yeah they can capitalize on the pg13 and make it a running joke. No big deal.

Just bleep everything and do a directors cut for when it's released on iTunes, streaming or bluray.

I bet you anything this is all BS and they're going to make it R. That way it'll make fans feel like they won some epic battle or something and get even more hyped about the movie.

I find censored cussing a lot funnier, personally I think they can really run with that idea and do some funny comedy with the censorship.

Yep there go the hopes of this being a good movie.

Think about it. This backs Ryan Reynolds into a corner, now if the movie is released in PG13, he'll get asked, "So Ryan, is this not the movie you wanted?"It'll look like Ryan Reynolds doesn't approve of the film he's supposed to be promoting and look like a liar.

Wasn't sure if this is a joke or not. I don't have a problem with a PG-13 rating:

Not surprised.
They want to get as many teen fans in there as possible.

An R-rating was just never going to happen even if the creators wanted it.
Their bosses are thinking about that bank.

Not surprised and Not mad at all. Fact is I have seen many well written CBM's with a pg-13 rating. Upping the ante on gore and profanity doesn't make a film better especially dealing with fictional characters. Besides Reynolds is just FanBaiting, he knew from jump street this film was going to be pg-13!

A PG-13 Deadpool movie can work if they make fun of the fact that it's PG-13 and Deadpool himself is pissed off at the idea.

An unrated cut will be on DVD no doubt. This isn't even bad news. Bring it on.

Imagine the backlash from the DC/Fox crowd if Marvel Studios had done this.

Not really surprising though and like others have said this would be a great running gag to include in the film. Deadpool acting like the trolls do here all day long where he complains about the studios making annoying changes to the source material. Can't wait for this movie.

I can't elaborate further than this. I really don't have a problem with a PG-13 rating.

Kingsman is a recent example of a highly profitable R rated movie that didn't need to water down its violence to appeal to more people.

And? Who honestly cares.
I'm sure they'll be an unrated version on the DVD.
So hardcore fans can enjoy.

With this rating they can make it more widely watchable, hopefully get it some more money and tie it into the X-franchise.

We live in a world where they can get away with so much violence in a PG13 rating.

This is one of the good things about the Marvel properties being split up. I can't imagine Disney ever putting Deadpool into their universe.

You'd think after Kingsman that Fox would have wanted a R-rated Deadpool. Oh well. This movie can still be enjoyable in PG-13. They can bleep the profanity ala Scott Pilgrim.

Seeing how The Wolverine unrated edition was better than the theatrical version this makes me a little worried but I just love Deadpool so much that my hype cannot be killed by anything
