Ryan Reynolds Talks More About DEADPOOL And Possible X-MEN: DOFP Cameo

The actor expresses interest in an X-Men: Days of Future Past cameo, compares Deadpool to Zombieland, goes into more detail as to why he thinks the studio won't move ahead with the movie and reveals how it would address Wade Wilson's controversial appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

"I love that kind of stuff," Ryan Reynolds told Empire Online when asked if would be interested in making an appearance as Deadpool in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. "I loved doing Wolverine 'cause the movie wasn't on my shoulders. I got to kind of come in and insult everybody. It was a lot of fun actually." The Green Lantern and Safe House actor then went on to reiterate that he believes it is the "nearly NC-17" screenplay that is causing 20th Century Fox some concerns, and expanded on that by adding, "[The Deadpool script has] got a similar tone [to Zombieland], almost. They wrote it and they developed it as well and, you know, it’s sitting there. You could do it for a pittance compared to the modern sort of epic scale superhero movies, but it’s about a guy who knows he’s in a movie and knows he’s in a comic book who is deeply mentally disturbed and hyper violent. And that’s tough to get by a studio."

As for whether or not the solo Deadpool movie would somehow link up with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds is as reluctant as most other comic book fans to see that happen. "I don’t think you can do that, because that character would really sully that whole world. The script is one rewrite away from Deadpool jumping across the desk at the studio executive and attacking him." However, that doesn't mean he doesn't want to poke fun at the almost unanimously despised interpretation of the character that was featured in Wolverine's first critically panned solo movie. "But I’ve always wanted to do the movie just if only because Deadpool would get to do his own movie trailer. So that’s a thing that we were dying to do and we would love to be a part of that. I don’t know how it would fit though, no. In the current iteration of the script, it doesn’t address Wolverine – though it does address Deadpool’s appearance in Wolverine. Deadpool was not happy with Deadpool in Wolverine. He has a sort of a WTF!? moment with that."

He breaks the fourth wall in the script.... Why won't they make this!?!?!

LEVITKUZ- what a joke. Jim Carrey and Ray Park have bigger box office draw than Ryan Reynolds? Were you frozen in ice for a decade?

Deadpool is too self-aware for a movie to make sense. RARELY has the fourth wall been broken effectively on film.

Yes, but if done right he shouldn't look anything like Ryan Reynolds. I'm talking about being in costume and when not being horribly scarred. We would only see the actor (ultimately whoever played the character) possibly in a flashback pre-scarred.

I disagree with you about Reynolds. He's a capable actor. He does seem to gravitate towards obnoxious roles, but I think the reason why he annoys so many is that is good at that. I guess my point is why would you spend a lot of money on a famous actor that's not going to to be able to show his face and recognize, I think acting chops would be more of a concern?
Deadpool would be a risk to make at the least, and probably a niche movie at best. But if done well it should be able to equal Kick Ass type numbers.

The script was pretty good, and with some slight tweaks / editing could be made into a PG-13 film I believe. Then they could release an R-rated or even Unrated director's cut on DVD.

About the only way Deadpool is being made is if Deadpool himself pays for it to be made. Otherwise, he's not happening. Although if the language is the problem, Deadpool getting beeped as he says the F word in his own movie and then getting pissed off that even on the big screen he is unable to curse would be a fun scene to see done.

Problem is Fox has no imagination… A problem suffered similarly by WB. If it's well written and well portrayed as well as well marketed any idea should turn a profit.

I actually liked Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson during the beginning of Orgins. But if there is one other actor I know can pull off Deadpool is Sean William Scott.

Ryan Reynolds WILL end up as Deadpool unless it takes so long that he loses interest.

But it's just so stupid. Deadpool is strictly a voice. Cast a martial artist, not even an actor, not even a stunt double - and dub his voice.

In the script, we see a toy of Barakapool in the garbage and Wade voice of say: "this is the worst thing that ever happen to me". But the we see that he his at the doctor and that he just learn he have cancer.

I'd love to see Reynolds walk into the room with the xmen in DOFP and say something like "oh sorry I'm not in this movie, I'll go". Now that I've written it sounds out of place, but it would be hilarious for people that get it.

Levitikuz,

Carrey doesn't draw anymore. His latest movie is a flop. If you bring up Carrey to 10 random people, most of them will say, "Isn't he that guy who used funny over a decade ago? His movies today just suck."

Also, was Hemsworth a draw when he was casted as Thor? No, he was not, but that movie still made money. Reynolds as DP would do the same.

Ryan Reynolds is perfect for deadpool an hes a good looking guy he brings girls to the movies. PLus he has that snarky wanna be Jim Carey thing down, like in Van Wilder. plus he great with the swords
They should make him break the Forth Wall like Zack Morris... TIME OUT

We should all band together and create our own Deadpool movie. We could get it done by the time Fox does anything with the script.

I've been a RR fan since 2 dudes and a pizza joint, but when I saw Van Wilder, I thought "Holy crap, this guy wopuld make an awesome Deadpool!" SO when he was announced for Origins, I was stoked! Then I saw Origins. :(
But reading the leaked Deadpool script, I felt like I did when I first saw Blade in theatres - SO EXCITED to see this movie on the screen! Chicks love Ryan, so guys can bring the girls just to oogle his abs, and the humour is SO deadpan Reynolds. Like him or not, he can deliver a funny line. There is a lot of time pre-disfigured, and a lot of time in full costume - so you can't use a nameless/faceless actor - you need someone to "star" in the movie - and I still believe that Ryan can pull it off like no other.

@PC04 - there was an awesome web series for Deadpool on Youtube, professionally made in Hollywood, but Marvel had it yanked after only 2 episodes.

I'm not a fan of Raynold that much, but he fit the character, especially the per-weapon X Wade. Seann William Scott would also be a good fit. But for DP in costume, a martial artist with a funny man voice over would also work.

Ryan Reynolds was so amazing as Wade Wilson / Deadpool
He is very very awesome in X-men: Days of Future Past but not Cameo !!!! bigger than cameo because Deadpool is one of X-men character, it would be amazing he is joining with the X-men he is appeared with mask he is defeating Apocalypse Exodus Mister Siniter Holocaust and Sentinels

It's very amazing to look Deadpool with mask in Future along with other X-men Days of Future Past Characters

the characters who must continue from X-men Origins Wolverine to X-men Days of Future Past are

Emma Frost and Cyclops were in past

Gambit

Blob

and Sabretooth

They are just describing in past only but for Future in X-men: Days of Future Past cast members are ;

Emma Frost as an older Emma Frost
James Marsden as an older Cyclops
Josh Holloway as an older Gambit
keep Kevind Durand as Blob until future
Tyler Mane as an older Sabretooth

most people are also still waiting for Famke Janssen as bigger role " White Phoenix of the Crown"

He's had a few good leading roles, besides buried they were more comedy movies, which is what this is.

I think levi would have a three way with Jim Carrey and hellboy.

The script was incredible. The reference to wolverine that Reynolds is talking about is there is a close up of an action figure of Deadpool with blades comin out of his arms, and we hear Deadpool say "A part of me died the day this came out" and then it zooms out and he's talking about some old album that he's holding. He throws the album in the trash and it knocks the action figure in.

Deadpool is the only character I want to see Reynolds play. This can def be cool if marketed right. Deadpool doing his own trailer, Reynolds back to classic satirical funny man, rated nc 17. I'm sold. Also origins had very few good parts and at the time before they screwed up Pool Wade was the best part, and the reason many wanted to see the film. To say he doesn't have the ability to draw in a crowd is wrong.

@Levitikuz is perhaps Mr. Popper's most fanatical Penguin. and why should KickAss2 change anyone's opinion of jim carrey? According to you, he's still one of the biggest draws in hollywood...

@Tainted Amen, but most directors today don't have 10% of Brooks' genius
ClobberPot
ClobberPot - 3/22/2013, 7:40 AM
Reynolds is a fit for the part, although Sean William Scott's good too (he was always my choice for Cap). Deadpool will not translate to film and keep his identity. Yellow box wont work in a movie.
