Production on
Disney's Jungle Cruise has come to an end and stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt have taken to Instagram to commemorate the moment with a video. In it, the duo thank all of those involved with the production of the upcoming film and celebrate the official wrap. We also get one last look at the co-stars' natural chemistry on screen.
"From deep in my bones, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who invested their time and talents into making this movie a dream come true. The JUNGLE CRUISE ride was Walt Disney’s proud creation and has gone on to impact generations and bring pure joy and fun to families worldwide," Johnson wrote in a post alongside the video.
"We hope to deliver and make his spirit proud. Until then, I raise a glass of fine tequila to my lady, Emily aka “Pants” and our entire production crew, brilliant filmmakers and Disney family... cheers to the adventure of a lifetime. "
With production having wrapped, it hopefully means we aren't too far away from seeing some official promotional material for the film - or at least a plot synopsis. Although
Disney's Jungle Cruise is obviously an adaptation of the Disney theme park attraction of the same name, actual story details remain a mystery. We know that Emily Blunt will play a scientist who hires Johnson's character, a boat skipper, to go in search of a special tree somewhere along the Amazon River that is believed to have healing capabilities. Of course, others are also searching for this same tree.
Johnson previously compared the film to an
Indiana Jones-like adventure; however, in the
production announcement video, Johnson and Blunt described the film as a "love story."
In a separate post, Johnson shared a separate photo of the two co-stars sharing a laugh on set while thanking Blunt for joining him on "this boundless and wild journey."
Disney's Jungle Cruise is slated to arrive in theaters October 2019. In the meantime, Johnson will now turn his attention over to his
Fast & Furious spin-off movie,
Hobbs & Shaw,
which recently began production as well.
