Disney's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS Final Trailer Teases A Dark Side To The Classic Legend

Ahead of its November release, Disney has debuted the final trailer for The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, a fantasy film inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale - but with a dark side...

Disney has had an incredible run at the box office this year thanks, in large part, to the success of superhero flicks like Marvel Studios' Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War along with Pixar's Incredibles 2. The House of Mouse will look to continue its spectacular 2018 with the release of Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, a film inspired on E.T.A. Hoffman's classic tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (but probably more well-known thanks to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker).

Ahead of its November theatrical debut, Disney has released the final trailer for the upcoming fantasy film, which follows the adventures of Clara (Mackenzie Foy) into a strange and mysterious parallel world. Her journey will take through four magical realms, including the Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. While those sure do sound magical, Disney teases "the legend you know has a dark side." That would presumably be the Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger. Check out the trailer for Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and get ready for a grand adventure later this holiday season.

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.

Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms features a star-studded cast, including Mackenzie Foy (Clara), Keira Knightley (Sugar Plum Fairy), Morgan Freeman (Drosselmeyer), and Helen Mirren (Mother Ginger). The film was directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston with a screenplay by Ashleigh Powell.  Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms opens November 2, 2018, just a few weeks before another Disney's Ralph Breaks the Internet, another surefire hit opening November 21, 2018.

I don't usually say this, but there seems to be way too much CGI/green screen in this film. Keira Knightley sounds hella creepy. The sets look amazing though and I'm excited for more Mackenzie Foy. This may be another production and costume design Oscar contender for Disney.

Morgan "I sexually abused 8 women" Freeman also stars in this movie. So much for Disney being family friendly.

This is going to be a CGI [frick]-fest just like a Wrinkle in Time was... But hey, The House of Mouse does what the House of Mouse wants

I think they should just stick to their live-action re-imaginings, for now.

I’ll take “FLOP/SPLAT” for $200, Alex.

This movie should have just been called "The Four Realms" because this looks like a completely original story with barely any Nutcracker influence in it. Using "The Nutcracker" in the title just seems like a marketing strategy to get more people to see it.

This film looks like the inside of my ass. This shit is gonna flop so hard, its unreal! Terrible idea by Disney and its gonna cost you in the end. Another Wrinkle In Time situation! I'll give this gilm one thing tho, at least they dont have a Godzilla sized Oprah in it, so thats a plus at least.

This actually might make less than A Wrinkle In Time. A Wrinkle in Time actually had duel screenings with Black Panther so they could inflate the box office of the movie and get it to reach 100 mil.

Maybe it will do well overseas?

@regularmovieguy - It's already doomed in Europe and China because of The Grinch coming out around the same time.

@Pantherpool

Yikes. The Grinch looks pretty bad but I’m sure it’ll make a ton of money.

@regularmovieguy - It looks like trash and it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch is wasted in the voice role, but Illumination knows how to make money.

MrCamw1 - 9/4/2018, 11:56 AM
@Oskir - I didnt know the Bear Jew was directing it. I'm even more excited now cause you sing know what the guy could do with a kids film. Also I think Green Inferno is pretty good too. A but silly with the subject matter but I found enjoyment in it.

@MrCamw1 - I also really liked Green Inferno too! Eli Roth is just the type of guy who make movies just for fun. He is not the most talented and he knows it but he seems so honest about his work!

And also Room was really good!
MrCamw1
MrCamw1 - 9/4/2018, 12:15 PM
@Oskir - from what I heard hes actually an even nicer guy during interviews which surprising with the movies he makes. But yeah I like that he doesn't let criticism get to him.
