Disney has had an incredible run at the box office this year thanks, in large part, to the success of superhero flicks like Marvel Studios'
Black Panther and
Avengers: Infinity War along with Pixar's
Incredibles 2. The House of Mouse will look to continue its spectacular 2018 with the release of
Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, a film inspired on E.T.A. Hoffman's classic tale
The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (but probably more well-known thanks to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet
The Nutcracker).
Ahead of its November theatrical debut, Disney has released the final trailer for the upcoming fantasy film, which follows the adventures of Clara (Mackenzie Foy) into a strange and mysterious parallel world. Her journey will take through four magical realms, including the Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. While those sure do sound magical, Disney teases "the legend you know has a dark side." That would presumably be the Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger. Check out the trailer for
Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and get ready for a grand adventure later this holiday season.
All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.
Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms features a star-studded cast, including Mackenzie Foy (Clara), Keira Knightley (Sugar Plum Fairy), Morgan Freeman (Drosselmeyer), and Helen Mirren (Mother Ginger). The film was directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston with a screenplay by Ashleigh Powell.
Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms opens November 2, 2018, just a few weeks before another Disney's
Ralph Breaks the Internet, another surefire hit opening November 21, 2018.
