Hot on the heels of yesterday's final trailer for Marvel's Black Widow, Walt Disney Studios has launched a brand new theatrical trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra's upcoming adventure film, Jungle Cruise, which will star Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) in the lead roles.

The film's plot is more or less the same as the 1999 film The Mummy as it will center around researcher Dr. Lily Houghton (Blunt), who will travel from London to the Amazon jungle and upon arrival, will enlist the services of a wisecracking skipper named Frank Wolff (Johnson) to guide her downriver on La Quila - his ramshackle-but-charming boat.

Her goal is to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities, possibly possessing the power to change the future of medicine, but along the way, the unlikely duo will encounter innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. As the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes get increasingly higher for both Lily and Frank and their fates - as well as mankind’s - will all be left hanging in the balance.

@regularmovieguy - If they ever do Superman again (unlikely, I know) they should get Plemons for Parasite/Rudy Jones

@tmp3

Hopefully after Reeves Batman is a huge success - they will look at doing Superman again with a filmmaker who has a vision and can do it right.

There’s no way Superman stays gone for long.

@tmp3 - There's so much money to be made if they can get Superman right though, but yeah Parasite seems like the best candidate for the villain of a reboot, that way they can tease bigger threats like Brainiac for later installments.

@soberchimera - Just a villain who is not Zod or Luthor as the solo antagonist again.

I honestly don't think I've seen a Dwayne Johnson movie all the way through since The Scorpion King.

That looks like a whole lot of movie. Probably too much movie. Like, an “Aquaman” amount of movie.

Literally none of that even remotely resembles the Mummy. Even the location wasn't done in any of the movies.

@GAThrawnIGF - Researcher from London goes to a foreign country with her brother, hires local American to be their guide, searches for something mystical, finds it, turns out to be more than they bargained for, team up with the guide to fight evil

it's pretty much the same
