Jon Hamm Responds To DOCTOR STRANGE Rumors

Did the Mad Man actor ever meet with Marvel Studios to discuss potentially playing their Sorcerer Supreme? Based on what what Jon Hamm is telling Digital Spy, he most certainly did not. Check it out!

"The funny thing about the internet is you can have rumors go on about possible jobs, and possible things that you have no idea," Jon Hamm told Digital Spy when they asked about rumors that he was in contention to play Stephen Strange. "Maybe, I don't know. It's funny when the internet knows more about you than you do, but maybe they've been talking to someone at Marvel. I certainly wasn't approached about it, but I do like Dr. Strange. He's a cool character."

For the record, Jon Hamm's name popped up for Doctor Strange only once and it was from an unreliable source
back in January. There have since been others linked to the Scott Derrickson-directed project, but as of July, Marvel is currently in hot pursuit of three-time Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix, who reportedly is "strongly" considering the offer. What do you think?

I'd be cool with it if Jon Hamm was cast as Doctor Strange.

If he didn't meet with Marvel he could have just met with my boss for me. That's the least he could do for me in exchange for me having never seen him in anything.

Lol it seems like the Hamm rumor was thrown out there to stop the Depp talk. It was literally the day after Depp was rumored.

Hamm usually pulls the "I'm too old for superheroes" card in situations like this, so at least we got something different this time.

I remember when L.R. came out and said Depp was a lock for Strange, then THR debunked that rumor and what felt like just hours after THR's statement Hamm became the next "lock" for Strange.

For every Paul Rudd not playing Antman or Momoa not playing Aquaman there is 10 Joaquín Phoenix playing Lex Luthor.

I guess AICN fired "Billy The Kid" for more than just his always-negative reviews. His scoops apparently aren't worth a damn, either.

He looks the part, but I don't know anything about acting ability. Is he a good actor?

@TelaVizion - I'll try. The GF mentioned it before, but I try to only do things she doesn't want to do.

Jon definetly has the look. And its about time he plays a superhero, so one studio better take advantage of him, being the lead in Mad Men

in that pic, Joaquin sure looks the part, but he'd be like Edward Norton, or Mickey Rourke, if he joins MCU...NOT a "team playah".

Jon Hamm, on the other hand...from what i've been hearing he's quite the loyal and nice guy..he COULD be the perfect Marvel man for Doc Strange.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be cool to me. I know...age but Dr. Strange is a Doctor not a young skinny Jared Leto "rock star".

Daniel Day-Lewis would never do a superhero movie. It's just not his style.
