LatinoReview.com's ElMayimbe has already revealed which baddies could appear in the Dr. Strange that's (apparently) in the works at Marvel, and last night he called into the lads and lady on The Schmoes Know Podcast to give them the scoop on the heroes that may well be joining the good Doctor. Apparently The Ancient One, Cagliostro, Azrael, Jade Claw, Wong, Al-Faisal and Talo will all be a part of the movie -- or at least, are part of the script. That's a LOT of supporting characters for a solo superhero flick, but we don't know how big or small each role will turn out to be yet; and of course things are always subject to change at this early stage. If (like me) you'e not too well up on all of those characters, be sure to click the link back to Schmoes Know.com below as they've provided a handy profile for each. Plus, you can have a listen/look at last night's podcast HERE, in which the guys (and myself) discuss Man Of Steel

Mark Waids Dr Strange mini-series and Brian K Vaughns Dr Strange: The Oath are must reads for any comic book fan in general.

Yup a movie that has no director or writer is so [frick]ing crowded. Shit never changes during shooting of a film EVER.

I thought you meant heroes as in Avengers.

Also isn't Azrael a Batman character bc he was in Knightfall and Arkham City
PsychoManiacJacky
PsychoManiacJacky - 6/21/2013, 1:53 PM
Azrael? Azazel? And there was a Batman character with the same name? Okay this is going to get confusing...

What about Clea?
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 6/21/2013, 1:54 PM
Yeah... Azrael is a lineage of prophets that protect Gotham and believe Batman is a savior of sorts... Then again, Marvel may have their own Azreal, as they do Sandman. I've a much bigger fan of Batman than I am of Marvel's sorcerer mythos.

[frick] Clea, dont need her shoe horned as a romance in the first film, small role at most.

@Ocelot yeah...no Clea needs to be in the film, I do not want a repeat of the animated doctor strange film.

This is not a lot of characters no more than Thor or Captain America had. Just because there is a lot of characters doesn't mean that each one will have a bunch of screen time. You'd think people know how movies work by now.

"LatinoReview.com's ElMayimbe"

This rumor is bullshit. The fact that CBM is still reporting his crap is ridiculous. It's all for the page views.

El Mayimbe has broken news for every significant character in the Marvel-verse since Thor came out and broke the news that Khan would be the main baddie in Star Trek 2. While not always right, he gets a hell of lot more right than wrong.
KnobGoblin

Typical MARVEL formula. Surround the hero with supporting characters that get very little screen time and no character development ala "The Warriors Three" and "Howling Commandos," then have them fight an army of generic disposable canon fodder.
Ocelot

@imnotahero & @WeekendAvenger

This is actually likely to be true, a Doctor Strange movie that is, Feige has been name dropping and talking about the character when talking about characters for Phase 3. Eh Maybe's just going with the blantanly obvious for a Dr Strange movie, characters like Wong, Mordo, The Ancient one, Dormmamu etc HAVE to be in a Dr Strange origin movie. It's the same as saying that Aunt May and Uncle Ben would be in an origin movie.

@TheSisko

The animated movie with tweaks is the way to go, the focus should be on Strange, Wong, The Ancient one and Mordo, with Dormmamu behind the scenes. Dont need a shoe horned romance like in Thor, you can have the in the second movie like in Iron Man 2. I dont mind her being in the film, but a small role at most.

how the hell he got it right about Khan going to be in Star Trek. everyone already guessed it before the movie came out.
Ocelot

@MARVELPSYCHO79

I cant see him being the primary villian where he takes on Strange if they want to create a franchise out of the character, it will most likely and should be Mordo. He'll probably be responsible for the events that occur in the film like in the comics and like Volddermolt was in the Harry Potter films. So he'll essentially be a background villiasn where he's referenced, mentioned and alluded to but not actually seen in the film or only has a few scenes. However he has to be mentioned in the film.

If they basically do a live version of the animated movie they did years back, I'd be happy. That was a great story.

The name Azrael is from Christian and Islamic lore. When the Egyptians lost their first born sons because they wouldn't let Moses and his people go? That was Azrael, aka the Angel of Death. Much like Marvel's Thor, Loki and co are based on Norse mythology, so too is the Marvel Azrael also based on this Biblical character. That's also why Jean Paul took that moniker in Batman. (There's also an Azazel in Biblical lore but we'll leave that alone).
TheSisko
TheSisko - 6/21/2013, 3:43 PM
@Ocelot Jane was not shoe horned into the Thor. Thor being banished to Midguard happened reguardless of Jane. Clea could easily show show up in Doctor Strange, she does not need to be shoe horned in. Dormmamu is her uncle for gods sake.
