This year's Comic-Con issue of Entertainment Weekly is chock-full of goodies for fans that can't wait for the new announcements that will be coming out of Hall H when Marvel Studios takes over, and they've kicked things off with new concept art and details from Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange. The new artwork showcases the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) having mastered the mystic arts, but will his newfound powers change him for the better?

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cumberbatch explained how Doctor Strange's abrasive personality is quite similar to that of his character Sherlock Holmes from BBC's hit show Sherlock. "These two men are intelligent," said Cumberbatch. "Stephen Strange is a lover, he's a materialist, he's arrogant, but he's got a great sense of humor. There are smatterings of the same colors that Sherlock has, but he's not on the spectrum."

Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4th, 2016.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange/Stephen Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, Benedict Wong as Wong, Michael Stuhlbard as Nicodemus West, Amy Landecker, and Scott Adkins. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson.

Not including Doctor Strange, because we haven't seen his film, but how has Marvel gotten their characters to be liked so much, movie wise? Some films may fall short to some but the general audience for the most part love these characters, B and C characters.

@THATguy01 - I think it's because they're ACTUAL CHARACTERS. They feel like real people. You see something in them you've seen in yourself or others. Or they have qualities that feel genuine and attainable.

I know that I admire Stark's charm and charisma and it doesn't feel like some fictional, unattainable thing. Feels authentic. Cap's morals. Widow's dry wit.

The Marvel heroes in my opinion are just REGULAR JOE'S who happen to have crazy cool abilities and talents. When they put on the suit, it's not like a different persona. They're still that "kid from Brooklyn," "that narcissistic but charming billionaire mechanic." They're not really superheroes but just average Joe's thrust into grand situations.

Their personalities are very inviting and real. Watching them grow over nearly a decade, is something else too.

They encounter these larger than life villains, monumental dangers and they attack it like with a level of wit that's fun. They deal with things with an admirable sincerity.

Looks so good! Love how they actually gave him magic circles rather than some lame glowing light.

@CAD1021 - I really hope the magic looks exactly like that in the film too, and not just for show in the promo material.

Strange is the one character I've never been able to put a voice to, or at least a consistent one. I just can't hear him in my head. It's so weird.

@Kurne - For me, it's always been someone who just naturally sounds intellectual and high class, ironically like Cumberbatch.

@THATguy01- Marvel Studios (-and especially Kevin Feige) knows what they are doing, plain and simple. They have an insight and a long-range plan, something that almost NO ONE in the business (ESPECIALLY the wretched comic business) has. Marvel Studios cultivates their characters and knows what works and what doesn't. Take note of the recent "Civil War" movie where Feige has taken the basic core of an idea from a bad comic, cut out all of the bullshit fan-boy nonsense and developed it into a real story, grounded it, and made it palatable to an everyday audience, not just juvenille comic fans.
Straight comic books on the screen DONT work. That is, basically, why Green Lantern didn't work and why Geoff John's is going to be a DISASTER for DC- he is too much a comic-booky based guy. He is NOT a film producer. You have to make these stories and characters palatable to the common folk- THAT is where the BIG money is at. And that is where Marvel Studios- and Kevin Feige- excels. To have that insight in this comic movie biz is rare.
And once Feige is gone, Marvel Studios is screwed.
