A Hulk Movie Fan Cast Idea Based on Mark Ruffalo's Portrayal of Bruce Banner/ Hulk

With Marvel's Avengers, we get a new Hulk played by Mark Ruffalo. Mark Ruffalo has signed on to do six movies. There is a rumor that a Hulk move starring Ruffalo has been put off until 2016. This is my idea of how that movie should go complete with a fan cast.

Hey everyone. MCott62094 here. So, my newest subject....Hulk. Dr. Bruce Banner. There have been three different portrayals. Eric Bana in Ang Lee's Hulk Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk. And Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers. Ruffalo's portrayal has earned much praise from critics and fans.

Ruffalo signed on to do six movies. It is rumored that another Hulk movie will be made in 2016. Here is how I think it should be done.

Plot: After the events of Avengers, Bruce Banner is traveling the world. He is finding his struggle with his inner rage (and alternate persona) slowly fading as the two halves exist in near harmony. Banner attempts to return to the states to reunite with his love, Betty only to learn he and the Hulk are still wanted by general "Thunderbolt" Ross.

On top of that, Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D pursues Banner with a request for Banner to return to S.H.I.E.L.D as one of their scientists. Banner adamantly refuses, saying only to return if the (Avengers)initiative is ever needed again. During these events, a scientist named George Tarleton is working on a supercomputer kept tightly under wraps called "Project M.O.D.O.C." It's revealed, that Ross commissioned Tarleton to build the computer as a possible way to track and compute Banner's movements.

Tarleton's computer requires the power of a human brain and he volunteers himself. During the process, Tarleton exposes himself to a mutagen in order to bond his brain to the computer, but it also physically warps Tarleton.

The test run of project M.O.D.O.C is almost a complete success until the computer malfunctions. Ross tries to shut the project down but Tarleton refuses to believe his project failed, as he believes his designs were flawless and the system is perfect. He goes on a rampage to prove to the world what M.O.D.O.C is capable of.

Hill once again attempts to recruit Banner, only for the two to be captured by Ross. Hill, as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. is released. Ross keeps Banner however.

The mutagen that Tarleton used to bond his brain to the super computer has warped his mind, believing that his system is superior to an ordinary human mind and that as such, he should be in charge. He changes his anagram to M.O.D.O.K.

Ross shows Banner the files and info on Tarleton, begrudgingly admitting Banner may be the only chance. Banner transforms.

Hulk fights M.O.D.O.K as he tries to hijack an antenna which would load a virus into all electronic equipment, save his own. The battle is brutal but Hulk ultimately prevails.

At the end, Bruce proposes to Betty, and Ross shuts down his search on the Banner and Hulk. Bruce also accepts Maria's offer to work as a scientist on S.H.I.E.L.D's team.

In a post credits scene, Maria and Bruce are in Bruce's lab when they're greeted by an agent revealed to be Coulson, revealing he survived the events of Avengers.

Cast

Stan Lee in a cameo appearance

This is just a given. In all of his works from Marvel, Lee makes a cameo. I didn't have an idea of what I wanted him to do in this particular film, but I new the cameo was a must.

Bruce Banner/ Hulk: Mark Ruffalo (with Lou Ferrigno as the voice of Hulk)

Like I said, this article revolves around the idea of a Mark Ruffalo Hulk movie. Personally, of the three Hulks, Ruffalo is my favorite. He provided an element to Banner that I felt was missing in Bana or Norton.

And as always (except in Ang Lee's Hulk where it was Ang Lee), former professional wrestler Lou Ferrigno provides the voice of Hulk.

Betty Ross: Connie Britton (Nashville, Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story)

First off, my test audience felt I should have kept the cast of The Incredible Hulk. I have nothing wrong with Liv Tyler or William Hurt, but I just feel new Hulk new rest of the cast...you know what I mean?

That being said, I love love LOVE Connie Britton. She is beautiful and amazing! Trivia: When she does a TV show, it's usually a hit. Does that say anything? Maybe. I don't know. What I do know is that she's spectacular in whatever she does. Plus, I looked at pics of her and Mark Ruffalo side by side, and I couldn't help but feel they'd have this great chemistry.

General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross: Kevin Kline (Wild Wild West, Silverado, A Fish Called Wanda)

Another great actor. While Kline doesn't have the physicality Thunderbolt has, Kline has enough acting talent to give Ross that power that he has. There's not really much more to it than that.

Dr. George Tarleton/ M.O.D.O.C (Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing)/ M.O.D.O.K (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing): Lee Arenberg (Pirates of the Caribbean, Once Upon a Time)

You know, I don't know what drew me to this choice, but I really like it. Arenberg is an underrated actor who first gained prominence with his "ello poppet" in the Pirates franchise. He's mostly stayed under the radar though which is so unfair considering his talent. This would be a great role for him.

Returning

Maria Hill: Cobie Smulders

For this, I wanted to something reminiscent of Iron Man. How Nick Fury and Natasha Romanoff were in it. But then I had to figure out which agent of S.H.I.E.L.D did I want. And Maria Hill came to mind. Personally, i feel Cobie didn't get enough screen time in Avengers.

Clint Barton/ Hawkeye: Jeremy Renner

Unlike Hill, who would play a prominent role in this movie, Barton is reduced to a cameo. I had a plan that would make him a major character as well but I didn't work out, so cameo it is.

Agent Phil Coulson: Clark Gregg

First off, I support the "Coulson Lives" campaign. He is a great character. Hopefully, Stan Lee will give Coulson his own comic series in the future. But, in the mean time, I chose this movie to be his re-introduction.

As always, reviews and thumb ups are appreciated.

Not a bad idea for a Ruffalo-helmed Hulk film. And you came up with a decent way for MODOK to be translated on film.

When you have a minute, check out my latest fancast: "Danger Girl: The Animated Movie" Reprise.

I like it but, you should have kept the cast from the Incredible Hulk. It is still the same universe.

@nowtheresaBATman What I meant was that it seems unlikely Tyler and Hurt would be replaced, but if the off chance it did happen, this is who I see as capable of replacing them.

I like your article, Hulk is my favorite hero and I know Ruffalo is signed on for six films. I'm excited to see where they take Hulk in the MCU, good choices. :)

I like with what you came up for the story, but I feel that what would've made a better story/plot for another Hulk film would be to use The Leader that was already shown to be Hulk's next adversary for another MCU Hulk film. But again, all in all, good.
As for the cast, I really feel like there shouldn't have been a change with Betty and General Ross. Of course, Ruffalo is definitely the guy to bring in another great performance for Banner/Hulk, but I think it'd be best to bring back the original cast from THI, imo. But again, @Cott, you really did a great job with this all and I applaud you again, man. ;)
