THE GCPD BUILDING
Bullok is with Gordon, in his office. He has the evidence on his desk.
Bullok: "How's THAT for proof? The Bat did this, along with his little kid. They committed murder, and serious injury. Heh heh."
Gordon: "Fine. You got me. I guess Batman did do it. Of course, we didn't see it, and Maroni IS a mob boss. Maybe he hurt himself intentionally. We can't do anything to Batman until he's put on trial."
Bullok: "What? Trial? How do you explain...um...Wilson! Slade Wilson."
Gordon: "Maybe it was Maroni, to shut the guy up."
Bullok: "Why? To stop him from getting money from us?"
Gordon: "Possibly."
Bullok: "Possibly. Possibly? POSSIBLY!!! You wouldn't know how Batman operates if your damn LIFE depended on it!"
Gordon: "Mmm. Yes, but I'm still the commissioner. Now leave my office Detective."
Bullok: "I...I will...Commissioner. Good...bye."
He left the room, cursing under his breath.
FRIES' LAB
Victor is talking to himself, crying, in a new, more defensive, suit. The tubing system now runs inside the suit, and is much more heavily armored.
Fries: "Lynns will pay. Batman may have escaped, but he will NOT interfere. I just need a simple recording from him, and I can find him."
Almost immediately, Fries' computer came online, Firefly waving at him.
Fries: "Lynns."
Firefly: "Thanks for noticing. I hacked into your computer long ago. I saw you. You didn't see me. I know what your new suit is like. I know it's defenses and offenses. I also got to replay Nora's death, with you crying like a baby. Heh, heh, heh. Now then, I'm going to move my base of operations, destroy this computer, and destroy all evidence I was there. But that's only if you decide to redesign the suit. But, heh heh, DON'T do that, and I'll leave. Without destroying evidence, and with a note that says where to find me if you want to try to kill me. You can avenge Nora. Although, my base of operations could be moved to Bludhaven, maybe the Sahara."
Fries: "I'll do it sooner Lynns. When do we meet up?"
Firefly: "What is it, July 2nd? Meet me on the Fourth."
Fries: "I'll. Be. There."
Firefly: "Bye-bye."
The computer shut down. It didn't explode.
OUTSIDE: THE SAME LOCATION
Batman and Robin are watching the area.
Robin: "I believe that to further my experience as a crime-fighter and detective, that it should be my damn turn with the infared goggles!"
Batman: "Shut up. This is a delicate instrument, and should not be handled by the lesser crime-fighter."
Robin: "Fine. Is anybody inside?"
Batman: "Yes. But there's no red signature."
Robin: "Yeah. What do we call him? Cold-guy? Chill dude? The Snowman. Oo, that one's good. The Snowman! Dun dun DUH!!!"
Batman: "I said shut up. We need to be quiet. I'm sure that he can hear us. Robin, can you hear him?"
Robin: "No. Built in communication jammer is my best guess."
Batman turned on the radio communicator.
Batman: "Alfred, can you hear me?"
Alfred: "Loud and clear, Master Bruce."
Batman gave him a look of anger.
Robin: "Well I didn't know! Okay!"
Batman: "Shut up. Here, let me. Okay... Bludhaven, July Fourth, and Fries being there. July Forth. Something's going to happen that day. Could be here, could be Bludhaven."
Robin: "So you DIDN'T hear everything?"
Batman: "No, I only picked up bits and pieces. There must be a strong encryption code on the computer."
Robin: "So...you do all that stuff, look into it, and me and Alfred will finish up that cure you almost finished?"
Batman: "No. I'm going to finish it with you two. Then we find out what's happening. Lets go get started. Or finished."
They grappled to another building, one block closer to the Batcave.
THE BATCAVE
Batman, Robin, and Alfred are working with chemistry equipment.
Robin: "You know what I just thought of?"
Batman: "What?"
Robin: "Well, one, I'm out of school, and I'm doing chemistry-"
Alfred: "Master Dick, can you please get to the point?"
Robin: "Oh my-fine. How do you know this will work?"
Batman: "Simple. I made some before Nora died. I snuck into Fries' lab, unfroze Nora, tested it on an arm, and the flesh had shown no sign of decrease for three hours. I took a blood sample, and froze her again. When I tested the sample, the germ wasn't there. Of course, I went back, and took another sample from the same spot. The germ was back."
Robin: "So, we need to make it permanent and across the body."
Batman: "The body part will be easy, it was only a small amount, plus Nora's body was still in stasis."
Alfred: "We just need the right mixture to add to this."
Robin: "We still need a test subject."
Batman: "Don't worry, I put the germ in Alfred last night."
Alfred: "WHAT!"
Batman: "Oh my God. You actually believed me?"
Alfred: "Never. Do. That. Again."
Batman: "Okay. I have a formula. The germ dissolved two nights ago. We'll have to make the formula, stop Lynns, and pray it works."
They got started.
A STREET
Fries is walking down the road, people screaming, cars swerving out of the way, crashing into lampposts. Fries walks into a condemned warehouse. He looks around, and freezes the doorway shut.
Fries: "This is the place. Now where's the note? Oh, there it is."
He went over to a table, picking up a red slip of paper. He read it.
Fries: "Meet me at-he can't be serious. The...the...no. I can't do it."
He noticed something else on the table. It was a doll, with long, blond hair, and blue button eyes, with a white dress. It was a doll of Nora. Fries threw the doll to the other side of the room in anger, crying. He looked down at the note, and crumbled it up.
Fries: "I'll do it."
THE ROOFTOP OF THE GCPD BUILDING
Batman is with Gordon. He's explaining the situation.
Batman: "Gordon, I think Lynns is going to do something on the Fourth."
Gordon: "Is this about Fries?"
Batman: "Yeah. Lynns killed Fries' wife. Fries want's to kill Lynns now. Lynns is also infected with a disease, here, it's a second supply of antidote. Get it to hospitals, have them duplicate it. It may be the only cure in existence."
Gordon: "I'll do that. Listen, Bullok is getting angry. I had him lay off for a while by telling him you need a trial but-"
Batman: "You did WHAT!?! You shouldn't have. Bullok's going to get mad. He knows about the
Bat-Signal. He knows about our updates."
The door to the roof burst open. Bullok came out, pistol in hand, two more cops behind him.
Bullok: "Know he does. You're under arrest Batman, you too Gordon."
Gordon: "What? You can't just-"
Bullok: "Actually, I can. You've committed a crime. Assisting an accused person not on trial. Not informing them to his whereabouts. No attempted arrest of the accused person. The list goes on and on. Grab him."
The two cops grabbed Gordon's arms, taking out handcuffs. Gordon shoved them away. They fell in an obviously intentional, overacted manner.
Bullok: "Harming law officer and resisting arrest. Two more. Get him. And don't hurt them this time, or I'll have to resort to...certain measures."
Gordon: "If you think you can just shoot me, than go ahead! Batman!"
Batman: "Sorry Jim. It's more important than this."
Gordon: "Batman! BATMAN!"
He threw down a smoke pellet, and fell off the roof. He glided down, and grappled to another building. He ran away, Bullok shooting at him the entire time. The cops had got handcuffs on Gordon, and Bullok faced him.
Bullok: "Requesting help from a second accused person."
THE BATCAVE
Bruce is sitting at the Batcomputer, Dick and Alfred with him.
Dick: "Dude, it's not your fault."
Bruce: "Did you just call me dude?"
Dick: "I did. And you were right. Stopping Fries and Lynns from freezing the city, burning it, and causing the ensuing flood to destroy whatever's left is more important than helping Gordon and getting shot."
Alfred: "Master Dick is right. Mr. Gordon can take care of himself. I'm sure he will be fine."
Batman: "And if he isn't?"
Alfred: "Prison is nothing compared to what he has been through."
Dick: "Yeah. And good old Bruce Wayne will always be there to lend a hand and bail him out."
Bruce: "Heh. Yeah. You're right. I'll have to play it safe. Tomorrow's the Fourth though. We have no idea what Lynns will do."
Dick: "Well...when you were gone, I had an idea. Considering Lynns past with pyrotechnics, and Fries' weakness to heat-"
Bruce: "The fireworks. Of course. Good job. He'll want to be as close as possible. Oh no."
Dick: "What?"
Alfred: "The fireworks are launched off of the Gotham Bay Bridge."
Dick: "Oh. So you think-"
Bruce: "Yes. Not to mention I'm a criminal, and that Gordon's gone."
Dick: "No one to warn. No one to help."
