As Batman and Alfred have already been cast as Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons respectively, I feel no need to post their pictures again here. This fan-cast is for a Batman series of films that I've envisioned, the plots of which I hope to share with you shortly. Each character will include a short paragraph describing my reasons for choosing the actor, as well what I want from the character on the big screen. For the most part, I am trying to avoid actors who have already played in other CBMs. So without further a due, let's get to the cast!
John Malkovich -- Mr. Freeze
I actually didn't realize Malkovich was a fan favorite for Mr. Freeze until I picked him, but I think we can all agree he'd pull it off nicely. I want to see Mr. Freeze's origin played out as well. Although indebted to Batman for saving his life from the Joker, he hates Bruce Wayne for shutting down a project that could un-freeze his wife, Nora.
Taylor Lautner -- Dick Grayson/Nightwing
I'm probably gonna catch some flak for this, but I chose Lautner because he knows how to play a fierce character, and that's something I think needs to come out in Nightwing. While kicking ass, Nightwing is also a bit of a smartalec, and we know from Grown Ups 2 he's capable of that, too. Lautner is no stranger to action films, so I think he would do a good job. In this series, Nightwing would mostly serve as Batman's back-up, even when Batman doesn't want it. He'd also at least try to be a role model for Jason Todd.
Josh Hutcherson -- Jason Todd/Robin/Red Hood
My version of Jason Todd will be an orphan from Bludhaven, who steals the Batmobile after finding it parked there. Batman, amazed at his ability to steal the heavily-guarded vehicle, takes him in and trains him as the new Robin. In the comics, Jason Todd's Robin wasn't received very well. However, I feel the well-known and well-liked Josh Hutcherson could turn that around. Like Taylor Lautner, Hutcherson is no stranger to action films, so he should fit in great here.
Jim Parsons -- The Riddler
Edward Nygma is a criminal mastermind obsessed with riddles (imagine that). Bullied his entire life, his mission is to show everyone that he is better than the best of Gotham: Batman. Batman has had experience with Nygma in the past, ala something along Arkham Origins. While folks like Johnny Depp, Justin Timberlake and Neil Patrick Harris are fan favorites for the Riddler, I honestly think Jim Parsons would do a great job, and his TV experience would make appropriate an appearance on Arrow as well. Oh, leave my fanboyness be.
Benedict Cumberbatch -- Scarecrow
Because of his past crimes experimenting and torturing patients, Jonathan Crane is on the run, now posing in Bludhaven as Professor Rance. However, his hatred for Batman won't cease, so he builds a massive plan of revenge for Gotham City. As far as Cumberbatch goes, to be honest, he's a fan favorite, he's a good actor, and I couldn't find anybody else that would make a good Scarecrow. So there you go.
Ashton Kutcher -- Joker
Typically, Kutcher is known for his roles as a goofball, but he's played a few serious parts. I'm sure I'll get some flack for this as well, but I can completely see him as Joker. And think about it: Joker really is a goofball too, albeit a psychopathic one. The Joker would be causing an insane amount of trouble for Batman throughout the series, but he only has a major role in 2 of the 6 movies I am mapping out, which I will share with the site as soon as possible.
Emily Blunt -- Poison Ivy
While Blunt has been connected to numerous Marvel movies in the past, I do not believe she has been connected to a DC property. She's a great actress, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping Warner Bros. gets to her before Marvel does. Poison Ivy's origins would perhaps be shown in the second movie before going on to raise Hell in the third.
Vin Diesel -- Bane
Really think he would make a great Bane, folks. Just picture his voice, but with a Russian accent.... There. That should convince you :)
I'll save what I have in mind for him for the next article.
Jared Harris -- Hugo Strange
Honestly, I'm not that familiar with Hugo Strange, only seeing him in Arkham City and a few cartoons. But when I sat down and thought about a live-action version of him, Jared Harris is the only one that came to mind (I personally can't see fan-fave Robin Williams in the role). Harris is a very talented actor, so I definitely think he'd do a good job. I'll save most of what I have in mind for a future article, but let's just say he'd cause not only trouble but confusion for Batman.
Lily James -- Batgirl
It seems all I hear from people on Batgirl is either Emma Stone or Ellen Page. And I've tried to see it, guys. But I just can't. So I searched hard, dug deep, and came up with Lily James, from Downtown Abbey and Wrath of the Titans. She's also apparently acting as Cinderella in an upcoming movie as well. In this series, Barbara Gordon would suit up as Batgirl against the will of both Batman and Commissioner Gordon, and prove her worth before eventually turning into Oracle.
Bryan Cranston -- Commissioner Gordon
Kiss my band-wagon-gliding ass. He's perfect for the role, okay? Just give it to him!
Alright, CBM, thank you so much for reading. Let me know what you think about my casting in the comment section below! God bless!
