There are many factors which makes a film what a film is. Besides needing good direction in terms of where to go, a film most importantly needs actors and actresses. People that can hold their own role down and convey it in a way the audience would understand their character. To make the character come to life from the script. It's a factor which further impends the success of the film.

The Joker is by far one of Batman's most popular villains. There has been many different interpretations and versions of the character throughout comic books and media. Notably portrayed by Jack Nicholson in the first major Batman film production. His version of The Joker was more towards with the original classic Joker appearance. The campy but fun Joker in line with the time the film was made. Then years later in 2008, audiences in whole were treated to a much darker and grim version of the character. As Heath Ledger was in his performance as The Joker, we saw a more psychological side of effects. An effect not often put within a villain in a comic book film. Many could say they never saw Heath Ledger as the character when it was announced he would take the role also considering his previous filmography. Many didn't expect the outcome of the brilliant performance he delivered.

With a Batman reboot on the horizon for the future it should definitely be considered to use villains that have not previously been used before within a Batman film. Without no doubt if there was one previous villain to return it would have to be The Joker himself. In my opinion the new version if they continue should follow along the lines on how Christopher Nolan displayed the character in the film with also giving out a specific unique originality. There are many actors I know today could display those skills projected in the character. If I had to choose one though it would be Sharlto Copley.

Copley made his excellent film debut in 2009's sleeper science fiction hit District 9 were he played a character that was being slowly tormented throughout the film. Faced with the most difficult challenges no one can imagine. Then starring as everyone's favorite character Murdock in A-Team to the film Elysium which made me really want to consider him for this role. This is where we finally got to see Copley in a titular villain role. His role as Kruger in the film really made the entire film despite for what flaws it had. In one scene he could be funny and comedic then the next scene he could suddenly be serious in just a quick moment. Yes Copley could definitely play other villains from the Batman universe such as The Riddler or Mad Hatter but it's specifically The Joker which would match his acting ability. I think the next thing in people's own concern's would be his own accent. Many actors have dramatically changed their voice for a role not only physical appearance which wouldn't be any problem at all.

If you haven't seen anyone of his films yet especially Elysium if you are doubting this decision, go see the film. Warner Bros is definitely branching out more on casting decisions. Yes Ben Affleck would make a great Batman/Bruce Wayne. As Sharlto Copley would make the perfect adversary you wouldn't want to face. Thank you for reading and as always leave a comment below on your opinions.

He wouldn't be a bad choice, I'm just wondering if he can hide his accent. I know he was able to do a southern accent for A-Team, but who knows if he could do anything else.

Yes! I've been saying this forever! And keep his accent, in my opinion. It would work.

This was the only clip I could find with him in the movie Oldboy. He does sound slightly different in this one. I don't think accents would be a major issue, like I said many actors have dramatically changed themselves physically for a role.

That's actually a great choice. Another would be Robert Knepper. I hope the Joker doesn't appear in the dc cinematic universe though. There's so many villains that haven't appeared yet in the movies and Penguin, Poison Ivy, Riddler and Mr Freeze would be great villains to todays audience if they were done right.

I'd love to see him take on the role; he's very underrated, definitely got a lot more to show than what we've seen so far. He was/is my choice for an older version of the character, but given that Ben Affleck is Batman now, I can see him going toe to toe with him nicely.

I can see that. So long as he can be over-the-top with his voice (and I think he can), he's got it made.

Had an old Batman fancast awhile back, had Copley on there as Joker.

I honestly think he'd be perfect. Copley has yet to give us a subpar performance in my opinion.

Great editorial. I would love to see this actor play The Joker or at least some insane comic book villain in a film. I loved his performance in the film Elysium. He was a perfectly crazy villain for that film.
