This casting is done all in fun and for love of comics in general, so please keep this in mind all of you out there that take these Fan Cast a whole lot more seriously than you should and start trippin’ out when you see a casting you may not agree with and decide that you want to kill a brother. It’s all love and it’s all good, Baby!!! Relax. Breathe. Enjoy. Or not ,if you so chose.
Cole Hauser = Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Hauser is a decent actor and has some action cred to his resume. He can pull off both cool and professional when he’s Matt and intense and driven when as Daredevil.
Philip Seymour Hoffman = Franklin “Foggy” Nelson. Hoffman of course is an Oscar winning actor, but long before he was I had he on my list as Foggy due to his ability to come across as a likable and loyal everyman something essential to the character of Foggy Nelson.
Laura Allen = Karen Page. It was Allen’s work on two no longer on the air TV series that earned her a spot on my list as a possible Karen Page: The 4400 as Lily Tyler and Dirt as Julia Mallory. Simply put the Tyler role was normal honest Karen who worked for Matt and Foggy and the Mallory role is a blue print for the later heroin addict Karen.
James Gandolfini = Wilson Fisk the Kingpin. No, it wasn’t his role as Tony Soprano that put him on my list. It was his role years earlier in the Robert Redford movie The Last Castle that put him there. His take as the commanding warden of a military prison as that of a cool and calculating man who was use to getting his way and anyone under his command whether staff or prisoner could live, suffer or die at his whim said potential Wilson Fisk. Tony Soprano just put the icing on the cake.
Leonor Varela = Elektra Natchios. Not just eye candy, but talented exotic featured eye candy actress with some action cred. Although she is not Greek, her exotic South American accented voice would play more “authentic” more so than say Jennifer Garner’s voice did as Elektra in my opinion.
Jason Statham = Bullseye. To Statham Haters, you may hate the idea of him as Bullseye, but he’d work perfectly as the character. Besides it’s better to have him as Bullseye than as Daredevil since it’s on record that both he and Frank Miller himself think he would make a great Daredevil. Guaranteed you don’t want that happening and all it would take is one “Hollywood Film making Genius” to sign off on it for it to be a possible reality. Statham as Bullseye is the lesser of two evils.
Jay Karnes = Ben Urich. Like Hoffman he too puts off an everyman quality and his take as get at the truth at all cost Detective “Dutch” Wagenbach in the Shield TV series works in his favor for playing Ben Urich.
Lance Henriksen = Stick. Strong actor. Right look. Right personality to pull off the character.
Madeleine Stowe = Vanessa Fisk. A solid actress who can play both vulnerable and strong as needed for the character of Mrs. Wilson Fisk.
Eliza Dushku = Mary Walker/Typhoid Mary. Her time as Faith in the Joss Whedon Buffy and Angel series proved she could play deadly and seductive. Her take as “Echo” in the short lived Whedon Dollhouse series showcased her more vulnerable and sensitive skills. Perfect actress to take on this character.
Donal Logue = Leland Owlsley/the Owl. Although Logue is primarily known for comedic roles, he is very solid when it comes to taking on dramatic roles. The right combination of comedic and dramatic flavor and he works well for this character.
Tony Curran = Klaus Voorhess/the Cobra. Curran is another solid actor and his acting skills would be perfect for bringing to life the character of the original Cobra.
James Callis = face and form of Dr. Calvin Zabo and Gene Snitsky with proper hair appliances = face and form of Mr. Hyde. Callis of course would do the heavy lifting by easily establishing the character and motivation of Calvin Zabo, while 6' 9" former pro wrestler turned actor Snitsky will do what he has previously done very well, an evil musclebound thug.
Michael Emerson = Killgrave the Purple Man. Did anyone else think his take on the character of Ben Linus on Lost was a blue print on how to play the Purple Man? Emerson exudes the right amount of creepy and charismatic to pull off the character just add purple skin color.
James Marsters = Zalton Drago, the original Mr. Fear. Seriously do I need to say why he would work as this particular character?
Patrick Kilpatrick = Melvin Potter/ the Gladiator. Didn’t want to go with a big name/known actor for this part just someone solid. Kilpatrick is a character actor who has a track record for playing both menacing and sympathetic characters, something that's needed for this character.
Jackie Earle Haley = Wilbur Day/ the Stilt-Man. A solid actor who would just kill in this part. And his short height is an added bonus that works perfectly for the whole stilt angle of this character.
And finally so I don’t get verbally bitch-slapped by any Bendis fans for not including this character in a Daredevil casting, even though I don’t think it’s necessary to include her :
Evangeline Lilly = Jessica Jones/Jewel. She has the perfect amount of vulnerability and spunk needed to pull off the current Mrs. Luke Cage.
Thank You ahead of time for all feedback both positive and negative for this Daredevil casting. I appreciate and respect everyone who takes the time to view these postings regardless if you my not be a fan of any or all casting choices I make and any opinions that I may express here.
