As many of you know, Terminator Salvation came out recently. And the verdict? People thought it sucked. What did I think? I thought that the problem it had could have been easily solved: If they hired the writers of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie with a story from James Cameron and not the writers of Catwoman (yup) then the movie would've been Kick Ass! But, alas, they did not.
Any who, I had this idea for a sequel floating around my head and I thought that I would just share it with the good people of CBM.com. So, without further ado, I present to you my sequel to Terminator Salvation, Terminator: Exile.
Years after the events of Terminator Salvation, John Connor and his team infiltrate Skynet Headquarters in order to rescue human prisoners. Connor's team consists of Barnes, Kyle, and Blair, the three fighters he trusts most in the field. Connor and his team are soon attacked by Terminators and Barnes is killed. John becomes fatally wounded by one of the Terminators as Kyle and Blair continue to fight them off.
Kyle turns around and sees a Terminator kill John. Kyle is left with no choice but to escape Skynet Headquarters with Blair. 20 years later, Kyle, now middle aged, is the leader of the Resistance. With John's death, Skynet has become more powerful in the war. Kyle grows desperate how he can stop the war.
Within Skynet, a new Terminator is being built. It's purpose is to find the Resistance and infiltrate it, ultimately leading to the destruction of the Resistance. The Terminator is programmed to feel human emotion by Dr. Gene Emerson. Emerson is a prisoner of Skynet. He was kidnapped by the machines and was able to escape death when he told a machine that he could create better weapons and machinery. The new Terminator is set free and begins to search for the Resistance.
At Resistance Headquarters, a distress signal is received. They trace the call and it comes from within Skynet. Kyle is notified about this and listens to the signal. It is from a soldier who has managed to send it while he/she was taken to Skynet. Kyle's trusted advisor, David Griffin, volunteers to allow himself to be captured in order to search Skynet for the soldier and any other humans. Kyle reluctantly agrees.
The new Terminator comes across a little girl. She asks him for his name. He responds "Jack". Jack asks the little girl if he could speak to her parents. She brings him to them. Jack asks her parents where he can find any type of Resistance groups. He tells them that he was a part of one, but they were separated. The parents don't want to help Jack, but they are forced to band together when machine finds them and attacks. Jack saves the family and they move on to find a Resistance team.
David is captured by Skynet and locked in a cell. He looks around and sees the corpses of other humans and one Human in the corner, feeding off them. David arms himself with a rock while the figure turns to him. The figure asks him where he got the symbol on his jacket. David says that he is part of the Resistance. The figure comes from the shadows and we see that it is in fact John Connor.
Connor tells David that he was wounded by the machines and failed to get away while Kyle escaped with Blair. The machines took John and healed him, only to throw him in a cell and torture him. As John stayed in his cell, he noticed that the machine were becoming more and more savage. He saw the machines torture children. John discovered that the machines began to grow personalities over all these years. But instead of other emotions, they just became malevolent. John didn't want to eat the dead prisoners he was left with (another form of torture for him) but had no choice. John reveals that one of the bodies that had been dropped was a soldier who had a working communication device. John sent out his distress signal as a last hope.
Jack is brought to a Resistance group by the family, but claims that this is not the group he meant. Jack says that his group was part of Kyle's team. Jack says that he has classified information that he must give to Kyle and only Kyle. He demands that the Resistance group take him to Kyle. After a bit of bickering, they finally agree.
David and John devise a plan to escape, with the help of Dr. Emerson. Before they can escape, David is brought to a testing room by the machines. The machines force Emerson to use his technology to turn David into a Terminator. A flashback shows us that Jack was indeed a human before he was turned into a Terminator.
The machines began to test turning humans into machines after they learned many of their Terminators were sensed by dogs. In order to stay below the radar, they started experimenting on humans, with many failed attempts. It was not until Emerson that they were able to succeed with Jack. Emerson used to be a physician and when he was captured by the machines, he sacrificed himself in order to spare his family. In order to escape his death, he told the machines that he could perfect their machines by using humans as their killing machines. Emerson hated what he was doing, but feared death too much to attempt to stop the machines.
Jack reaches Resistance Headquarters and his programming kicks in. He starts to kill many of the soldiers, but fails to kill Kyle. The soldiers begin to push back, causing Jack to escape on a motorcycle. Jack returns to Skynet in order to report on his failing.
Emerson and John escape and go after David. They break in and miraculously fight off the machines, but David is now a Terminator. They fight him off until John is able to convince David that his human side is the dominant side, not his robotic side. David then uses his machine side to help John and Emerson escape. David wishes to help the other humans, but John says that they can come back for them at a later time.
Jack enters Skynet Headquarters and sees what is going on. He discovers David with Emerson and Connor and fight breaks out between David and Jack. David tries to convince Jack the same way John convinced him (David) but to no effect. During the fight, David's hand is burnt off, revealing to him his robotic structure. David and Jack continue to fight until Jack is finally killed. David escapes with Connor and Emerson.
Connor returns to the Resistance and becomes leader along with Kyle. David is told that they can repair his hand, but he says that he wants to keep it, just so he can remember what the machines did to him. Connor tells Emerson that they will search for his family as well as Connor's actual father (seeing as he did not send Kyle into the past). The film ends as Connor assures everyone that they will win the war.
Now, here is my Fan Cast for this story...
JON VOIGHT/JOHN CONNOR
I think that Voight is a talented enough actor for this role.
MICHAEL BIEHN/KYLE REESE
He is the original Reese, so I thought that I would keep him.
TOM HARDY/DAVID GRIFFIN
I think that Hardy is a great actor, and I think that he is the best choice for Griffin.
GARRETT HEDLUND/JACK
For this Terminator, I wanted somone that looked like a human and not someone like Schwarzenegger from the first movies.
MARK STRONG/DR. GENE EMERSON
I just wanted Mark Strong to be a good guy for once. :)
Well, thats my story and cast. Tell me what you think in the comments below. ;)
