For all of you CBMers out there toiling away at making fan made trailers for movies that you want to see, there's hope that your hard work may just pay off in a big way.

Remember this awesome fan made Green Lantern trailer?

Well, the creator of that trailer, Jaron Pitts so impressed producer Scott Glasgold that he hired Pitts to make a trailer for Technotise: Edit & I, a Serbian sci-fi film that he acquired the rights to.

Here's the trailer:

But, that's not all! Pitts' Technotise caught the eye of Avatar executive producer Laeta Kalogridis and now she plans to use the trailer to pitch an English-language adaptation of the Serbian movie.

Said Pitts:

"What I'm trying to do is really just overwhelm people with awe, where they say, 'Hey maybe this movie could be as good the trailer.'"

So, CBMers, keep honing your skills and posting your work and there just may be a future in it for you!

Wow! He certainly deserves it! So does the guy that made the Thundercats trailer ;)

Love me some Mila! But... that Technotise trailer had bits of different movies... right? So that trailer is not from a real film... is it? I mean, i swear i saw some of those scenes elsewhere...

@Shaman: Right, it's from several different movies. That's what he did with the GL trailer too, taking bits from Serenity and from video games and other sources and blending them all together.

It's kind of like a "pre-visualization" for a trailer, just to show how it would look as a movie. When George Lucas was making the original Star Wars movies, he would take clips from old war movies and edit them together to show his SFX teams how he wanted the dog fights to look. Similar concept.

@Deadpoox: The news is that Laeta Kalogridis is interested and, with her connection to Avatar, that's huge.

I just posted this to encourage all of our fan film editors out there! I think CBM is a great forum for fan films and I'm sure we helped Pitts' GL film get exposure in some small way.

JackJNapier- Oh yeah, that's where i saw those ;)

Brent- Well i personally thank you for this article! It made my day ;)

If you ask me, because of contacts and pricey education, not enough natural talent goes to the visualisation departments in Hollywood. This article is AWESOME news for anyone with a natural talent that never had the financial chances or contacts to get in the biz!

Cool, its great to see this sort of stuff happen. I haven't attempted a fan trailer yet but will at some point I'm sure. As it stands, I think that GL one is just about the best I'v seen.

@Shaman: I wish I had the skills and time to do it or I would be doing it too!

@Ror/Michael/Anil: I agree!

@LEEE: Thanks for checking it out, chum! Yeah, it took forever, but I didn't do it all at once. I've been building that gallery for some time now. Heck, just making the image to tease the gallery took me an hour to shrink down all of those posters. Did you see any CBM's that weren't represented?

The GL trailer is known as by far one of the best fan trailers on youtube Jaron Pitts deserves all the credit he is getting and I can't wait to see what great things come from this guy. If not for him I would have never wanted to make my MMPR trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irFLFpgyPTQ
It's people like him who are showing the world what the fans really want to see and how these movies are supposed to look and feel. Really looking forward to seeing what starts popping up online now that the public sees what potential there is out there for making a vision real and giving much deserving franchises the respect they deserve.
