FANCAST: ADVENTURE BEGINS WITH "THE AVENGER"!

Presenting my Fancast for the pulp/comic book hero THE AVENGER!
My companion piece to the Doc Savage Fancast.

Here's my "The Avenger" Fancast! He is more obscure than Doc
Savage even!

He was stated to be written by Kenneth Robeson, the writer
of Doc Savage, but was actually written by another author
under the Kenneth Robeson pen-name, Paul Ernst. Kenneth
Robeson was one of the house pen-names of Street & Smith
publishers, publishers of The Shadow and Doc Savage pulp mags.

The Avenger was a pulp hero a little like Doc Savage but he
was an average height, although he was extremely powerful
from training similar to Doc's. Criminals killed his wife and
daughter and the stress turned his hair white and his skin
a shade of gray. And his face was like putty he could
manipulate it into the shape of someone he was trying to
impersonate, he carried an actors make-up kit to finish
the disguise.

He killed a guy out of anger once when he was a young man
adventuring around the world and amassing his fortune so he
was sworn to never take another life by his hand. He always
set up the criminal he was after to set his own stage for
his demise. Sort of like Doc Savage in that way too.

He carried a throwing knife and a small handgun of his own
design that he would shoot at bad guys he was fighting and
knock them out by just creasing the top of their heads. He
nicknamed his weapons Ike & Mike.

He also like Savage had a motley crew of sidekicks.
Nellie Gray who was a young pretty little china doll platinum
blond woman trained in martial arts, Smitty, a 6'9" giant with
immense strength, Mac, a dour Scott pharmacist/chemist who
had had his family also killed by criminals and
Josh & Rosabel Newton, a highly educated African American
couple.

There was a young man who joined them when Richard Benson
was electrocuted and his white hair turned back to black and
his skin back to flesh color. His name was Cole and he was a
younger version of Benson. I didn't add him here because he
didn't come in till way later.

DC did a comic in the 70's illustrated by Jack Kirby that ran
for 4 issues. They also did a comic series in the 80's.

DDD @ Great work again buddy!!! Ive actually got that number 1 issue of DC's JUSTICE INC!

All perfect dude, total thumbs up!!

Hey as you think beyond the box, like me, you know there more than just MARVEL lol, check out my COMICO'S ELEMENTALS if you can find it in FAN FIC!

Hey about ROCK as DOC SAVAGE, kudos, i didn't know he was being considered for the role, that indeed was a fantastic cast an so is this dude!!!

Leee@, I read your ELEMENTALS Fancast!
I thought it was way cool! I do believe
I left a message on there. I never read
that comic before but I was glad you pointed
it out! Do you know where to purchase the
Elementals online?

BTW, I also have a pristine copy of
that first Avenger comic!

I'm up for anything new or
different! I love new creations and
innovations in graphic novel writing, art
and stories!

I'm working on writing and
drawing one, myself, right now and plan
to publish it myself! And I really love
CBM's that's why I get so pissed when
they don't do a particular property right as
a motion picture. I know better can be done than Hollywood usually does!

As I've mentioned on here before I'm
a trained scriptwriter and commercial
artist (have a degree in art and
illustration). I'm an inker and love the
stark medium of pen & ink, especially graphic
novels!

Yep, Leee we may not always agree on things
but we both sure think outside of the box!
Of course I don't think there is anyone else
on here I always completely agree with!

That's what makes CBM so great!
It gives us comic book nuts
a place to have a healthy if somewhat
heated exchange, at times, of ideas and points of view!
Variety is the spice of life and I really love
variety!

The Avenger is a very obscure character!
I would be surprised if you guys did know
about it! I like casting off-beat stuff!

He was a pulp hero that came at
the end of the pulp mag era. But he's very
cool, in my book! The comic didn't do well
in sales as is very evident by the terribly
short run of the comic! Richard Henry Benson
was more like Mike Hammer than Doc Savage or
The Shadow!

As for getting issues of ELEMENTALS just go to your local comic book shop, im sure they'll have a COMICO section or something?! You can get most of them at bargain prices luckerly still, though some are hard to get, as for online im sure you can but ive never bought anything online lol, so no good asking me on that one!

Speaking of The Shadow and The Avenger here's a DC comic
that I own where they were both together fighting crime!
It's a cool comic if you like the Shadow and Avenger
like I do or even if you just like the Shadow!

DDD - 10/30/2009, 3:37 AM
That black & white drawing sure does look like
Morgan don't it! Obviously the artist used Morgan
as the model, a much younger Morgan tho'.
