Fancast: Various Characters In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

In my latest fancast, I take on various characters that will enter the MCU at some point, such as Black Panther, Blade, Luke Cage, the Punisher, and many more.

Hey all,

This latest fancast of mine is rather different from my usual. In the past, I usually just casted a lead hero and all of the supporting characters/villains that were specifically in the character's comics/movies/whatever (such as X-Men, Spider-Man, etc). But here, I cast a lot of various characters from Marvel comics that will be used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point. I include supporting characters/villains for Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, as well as heroes such as Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Namor, etc.

Doctor Strange - Johnny Depp (seen in Public Enemies and the Pirates Of The Caribbean series) or Joseph Fiennes (seen in Luther and Shakespeare In Love)

Not the most original choices, but I think both of these actors have what it takes to play the Sorcerer Supreme. Depp’s one of my favorite actors, and there’s many CBM roles that I can think of that he can own in. Dr. Strange is one of them. However, if Marvel can’t afford Depp (which is likely), I think Fiennes would be an ideal choice. I loved him in Luther.

Others I considered: Gary Oldman, Jim Caviezel, Christian Bale

Blade - Michael Jai White (seen in The Dark Knight, Spawn, and Kill Bill Vol. 2)

Since the chances of Wesley Snipes playing Blade for a fourth time are very unlikely (especially with the character back at Marvel and Snipes in jail), I think it’s time to cast someone else in the role. Jai White seems to be a fan favorite for Luke Cage, but since he’s had some experience with darker characters, I decided that he’d be better off as Blade.

Others I considered: , Wesley Snipes

The Punisher/Frank Castle- Jon Hamm (seen in Mad Men, The A-Team, and The Day The Earth Stood Still)

I know Hamm’s probably the most overcast actor on here, but I can’t think of anyone who’d be as good as Mr. Castle. Hamm’s a good actor, and I can picture him in the skull shirt and jacket perfectly.

Others I considered: Gerard Butler, Joe Manganiello

Namor The Submariner - Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (seen in Fast Five, The Game Plan, and Faster)

When I first thought of The Rock as Namor, I didn’t care for the choice. I personally liked Zachary Quinto the most for the role, mainly because of his Vulcan look in Star Trek. However, after reading New Avengers Illuminati Special and seeing Namor’s appearance, I could picture Johnson in the role perfectly. The dude’s a perfect example of a wrestler becoming an excellent actor, and I think he’d own as the Submariner.

Others I considered: Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana

Black Panther - Steve Toussaint (seen in Judge Dredd, Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, and Beyond The Gates)

After seeing Toussaint’s strong performance in Prince Of Persia, I couldn’t help but picture him as the Black Panther. I think he’d be excellent.

Others I considered: Djimon Hounsou, Chiwetel Ejiofor

Hank Pym/Ant-Man/Giant-Man- Ryan Kwanten (seen in True Blood, Flicka, and Griff The Invisible)

I haven’t seen much of Kwanten’s work, but I’ve seen him cast in the role in a fancast or two, so I decided to give him a shot. Besides, I didn’t want to go with a big name like fan favorites Nathan Fillion or Neil Patrick Harris, so I figured Kwanten would be a good choice.

Others I considered: Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion

Wasp - Noomi Rapace (seen in Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, Prometheus, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)

I was gonna go with Gemma Arterton, but I decided not to since I have her Prince Of Persia co-star Toussaint as Black Panther and I don’t wanna do a double-cast, so I decided to find someone else. Noomi Rapace seems to be an up-and-coming actress, she looks like she’ll be great in Sherlock Holmes 2. She looks like an ideal Wasp.

Others I considered: Olivia Wilde, Gemma Arterton

Iron Fist - Ray Park (seen in X-Men, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra)

Park was apparently interested in the role a few years ago, and personally I can’t think of anyone else who can do as good of a job. He certainly has the athletic moves (shown in Star Wars and G.I. Joe), I’d love to see him as Iron Fist.

Others I considered: None

Luke Cage - Tyrese Gibson (seen in Death Race, Fast Five, and the Transformers trilogy)

Gibson’s one of the many actors campaigning for the Hero for Hire at the moment. I already have fan favorites Isaiah Mustafa, Michael Jai White, and The Rock in other roles, so I decided that Gibson would be a good choice for Cage. He was good in the Transformers films, he can play the tough guy pretty well.

Others I considered: Terry Crews, The Rock, Isaiah Mustafa, Michael Jai White

Enchantress - Malin Akerman (seen in The Proposal, Watchmen, and Elektra Luxx)

I wanted to go with a very original choice, but at the same time not out of the question. Akerman can definitely play a sexy character well, just watch Watchmen (see what I did there?) to see what I mean. So she shouldn’t be a bad choice for The Enchantress.

Others I considered: Alice Eve, Diane Kruger

Beta Ray Bill - Frank Welker (seen in Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and Transformers: ROTF/DOTM)

Welker’s one of my favorite voice actors, and Beta Ray Bill is one of my favorite Thor villains (Fingers crossed he makes an appearance in a sequel). I think Welker would do justice to Bill.

Others I considered: None

Mandarin - Ken Watanbe (seen in Inception, The Last Samurai, and Batman Begins)

Far from the most original choice, I know. But I can’t think of anyone else who’d be as perfect for Iron Man’s arch nemesis as Mr. Watanbe. He was good in Batman Begins and even better in Inception. I think he has the villainous potential to play Manderin to perfection.

Others I considered: None

Ezekiel Stane - Aaron Johnson (seen in Kick-Ass, Nowhere Boy, and The Illusionist)

Johnson may already be a Kick-Ass superhero, but I think he has enough potential to play Iron Monger’s son. Besides, he definitely has the looks. He can own the role.

Others I considered: Garrett Hedlund

MODOK - Paul Giamatii (seen in Shoot ‘Em Up, The Ant Bully, and John Adams)

I hate MODOK and I hope he never gets a film adaptation, but since there’s been interest in having him in a Captain America sequel, I may as well include him in this cast. Giamatii’s a pretty good actor, and he also has the looks for VAGI - err, MODOK.

Others I considered: Christopher Markus

Crossbones - Joe Manganiello (seen in True Blood, Spider-Man, and How I Met Your Mother)

Manganiello has recently expressed interest in playing Punisher and was considered for the role of Superman last year, but I better see him in a villainous role. The dude’s an underrated actor, he was good in the first and third Spidey films as Flash Thompson. Crossbones is also one of my favorite Capt. America villains. I can see Manganiello doing a great job with the character.

Others I considered: Jason Statham, Tom Hardy

Madame Hydra - Sienna Miller (seen in G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra, Stardust, and Factory Girl)

I’m mostly basing this casting on Miller’s performance as Baroness in G.I. Joe. The two characters seem awfully similar anyways, so it should be a piece of cake for Miller.

Others I considered: Michelle Rodriguez

Scott Lang/Ant-Man - Patrick Wilson (seen in The A-Team, Watchmen, and Insidious)

Wilson’s a fan favorite for Hank Pym, but I better see him as his successor, Scott Lang. Wilson was good in A-Team and I’m looking forward to seeing him in Prometheus next year. I think he’d be a good Ant-Man, Lang or Pym.

Others I considered: Nathan Fillion

Falcon - Isaiah Mustafa (seen in Ugly Betty, Horrible Bosses, and Chuck)

Mustafa has been campaigning for the role of Luke Cage for months now, and has also shown interest in playing Black Panther or Blade. But I have all those characters cast here, yet I wanted Mustafa to play a Marvel character. I figured Falcon would be a good choice, since there’s been talk of the character popping up in Captain America 2. I can see Mustafa in the role.

Others I considered: Michael Jai White, Wesley Snipes

Well, that's what I have for certain characters in the MCU. As usual, feedback/comments/tips/constructive criticism is always appreciated.
My next fancast will be for either Iron Man or Daredevil.

most of you cast is good but your Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Falcon choices are [frick]ing terrible dude. Tyrese can't act, neither can Park sure he's got the action chops but he doesn't have the acting chops. You need pick some real actors go for Hedlund, Hunnam or another ACTOR. But anyways like I said rest of the cast is pretty good, I don't have a problem with Johnny Deep as long as who ever the director is can reign in his performance, and stop him from putting too much of his quirky and weirdness in to the character.

Combine Depp's Dr. Strange character from his roles in the Secret Window and The Tourist and you got a pretty mysterious and arrogant portrayal. Luke Cage, maybe.Falcon, only seen him in Old spice commercial so visually no unless he gets ripped. LOVE Wilson/Antman!
Mind if I use that one, I'll give credit where credit is due! love this things!
