Once again, sincerest apologies for the length.
Season Five: Radiant Dawn
Our narrator (Timothy Dalton) gives us a brief overview of Fire Emblem, a series of medieval epics said to rival the works of J.R.R. Tolkein and George R.R. Martin. He provides a quick recap of the previous story, The Blazing Blade, and its sequel, The Binding Blade, dubbing them the historical epics of the series. He then briefly reflects on the standalone, horror-influenced entry The Sacred Stones. Then he recounts the story of Path of Radiance, along with how it and its sequel, Radiant Dawn, acted as the social commentary of the series, with its underlying themes of race relations, dealing with war's aftermath, and corruption of political office. He also notes the book being the longest in the series, divided into four acts.
"Tellius – The year 648 – Early summer. The northeastern nation of Daein lost a bloody war with neighboring Crimeand three years ago. Crimeand, however, abdicated its right to rule Daein and passed sovereignty of its former enemy to the powerful Begnion Empire. Daein’s future is now subject to the whims of the empire. Begnion’s occupation forces have gathered all Daein men of fighting age and put them to work in labor camps. Their work is brutal and void of purpose, designed to break both body and spirit. The remaining population faces poverty and starvation as the fields lie fallow. A band of young heroes has escaped the Begnion army to form a group called the Dawn Brigade. Fighting for a free Daein, they alone have stood against Begnion’s forces. They alone have shouldered the hopes of their nation. Among the company is a young girl named Micaiah, who is said to possess mystical powers. The people of Daein have come to know her as the “Silver-Haired Maiden.” They have come to think of her as the savior for whom they had been waiting. Begnion’s forces have tried time and again to capture and silence the Dawn Brigade. However, Micaiah’s ability to sense impending danger has thus far allowed the Dawn Brigade to evade the empire’s grasp."
A brief primer on the continent of Tellius:
"The history of Tellius is a history of warfare, or so the troubadours sing. It is a history of unending conflict between the beorc and the laguz, a history penned in blood and scarred by mistrust. The beorc fight with the weapons of man–the sword, the axe, the lance, and the magic arts…while the laguz, able to transform into beast, bird, and dragon, are weapons unto themselves. Both were created equally by the goddess, but neither race has ever accepted the other."
A brief primer on the countries making up Tellius:
-Daein: Daein was once led by the mad King Ashnard. Daein is a beorc kingdom and is home of the Dawn Brigade, who fight to liberate it from Begnion occupation.
-Hatari: Hatari is a laguz nation ruled by the Wolf Tribe. It is located east of the Desert of Death in Daein. It is ruled by Queen Nailah.
-Crimeand: A beorc kingdom currently ruled by Queen Elincia, and the home of the Greil Mercenaries.
[With the political situation in real-life Crimea as it is, I felt a name change was needed.]
-Begnion: A beorc theocracy that worships the goddess Ashera. Begnion's figurehead is Apostle Sanaki.
-Gallia: Home of the beast laguz, consisting of wildcats, tigers, and lions. It is an ally of Crimeand and ruled by King Caineghis.
-Phoenicis: Home of the hawk laguz, ruled by King Tibarn.
-Kilvas: Home to the raven laguz, ruled by King Naesala.
-Goldoa: Land of the dragon laguz. They isolate themselves from the rest of Tellius. Goldoa is ruled by King Dheginsea.
-Serenes Forest: A forest located northwest of Begnion. Home of the heron laguz. It is starting to grow back after being burned down 23 years ago, along with all of the other herons. King Lorazieh, Princess Leanne, Prince Rafiel, and Prince Reyson are the only herons still alive.
The story of Radiant Dawn is divided into four acts:
Part I is 'The Saga of the Silver-Haired Maiden', which tells the story of Micaiah and the Dawn Brigade's liberation of Daein from Begnion occupation, and the restoration of Pelleas, the heir to the throne.
Part II is 'Of Countries and Kings', which tells the story of Queen Elincia and her loyal retainers thwarting a rebellion within their own nation by Duke Ludveck of Felirae, which was begun in the wake of Pelleas's coronation. They are assisted in the end by the returning Greil Mercenaries.
Part III is 'Intersecting Vows', in which the Greil Mercenaries come to the aid of the newly-formed Laguz Alliance in their war with Begnion, with Daein forcibly drawn into the conflict on the side of the latter. It is during this act that the extent of the corruption in Begion's senate is revealed. The act climaxes with the awakening of the goddesses Yune and Ashera; however, it is revealed that all the myth surrounding the goddesses has been false this whole time. Yune, the 'dark god' who was sealed within Lehran's Medallion, is actually a goddess of freedom and chaos; Ashera is her opposite, goddess of order and restraint. Yune was sealed away because Ashera thought of her as an imperfection. Because they are linked, if Yune is awake, Ashera also awakens. If they were awakened by the Galdr of Release, Yune and Ashera would meet to judge the world and decide its fate; if they were awakened by the spirit of chaos, the world would be destroyed. However, Ashera has already given her judgment and petrified everyone on Tellius, though everyone with a strong spirit was kept safe.
Part IV is 'Gods and Men', where Yune, speaking through Micaiah, organizes the combined forces of the Greil Mercenaries, the Crimeand Royal Knights, Begnion's Apostle and her retainers, and the heroes from the Laguz nations into three separate armies--the Silver Army led by Micaiah, the Greil Army led by Ike, and the Hawk Army led by Tibarn--to march on the Tower of Guidance in Begnion, where Ashera dwells. Standing in their way are Ashera's Disciples of Order, led by the corrupt members of the Begnion Senate. Upon storming the tower, Yune's forces confront not only those same senators, but also the Black Knight; King Deghinsea of Goldoa; and to Sanaki's shock, her advisor Sephiran, revealed to be Lehran, one of the four champions of Ashera who sealed Yune long ago. Deghinsea was also a champion, along with Soan, founder of the Beast Tribe; and Altina, a beorc who became the first Apostle of Begnion. It all leads to a final confrontation with Ashera herself.
#The Cast of Heroes
*Playable Characters
**New Heroes
1. The Dawn Brigade
A) Auli'i Cravalho as the voice of Micaiah, the 'Priestess of Dawn' (order of class change: light mage to light sage to light priestess)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm7635388/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Before Mad King Ashnard declared war on Crimea, Micaiah's early occupation was that of a fortune teller in Daein. During this time, she met a young boy named Sothe, and they promised to look after each other forever. However, due to the fact that Micaiah was Branded, the prospect of Sothe traveling with her and catching the backlash of the prejudice she would receive was unthinkable, and with that, she left him. They were reunited after the war, whereupon she promised never to leave him again. After the Mad King's War, the Begnion occupation forces took control of Daein. During this time, Micaiah reunited with Sothe, who was one of the Crimean soldiers serving under Ike during the Mad King's War. Micaiah and Sothe then proceed to join up with Nolan, Edward, and Leonardo and form the Dawn Brigade, a group of freedom fighters officially led by Nolan to fight for a free Daein. Micaiah greatly distrusts Ike, blaming him for Daein's plight, despite never having fought alongside him during the Mad King's War. Micaiah is a very caring individual, but tends to be somewhat bitter at times, a result of both her treatment as a Branded prior to the story and the abuse of Daein and its citizens by the Begnion Occupational Army. Throughout her life she has been guided by her visions, and although she often wished she didn't have them and felt as if they were a burden, she nonetheless trusted in them to keep her life on the right path, and when her foresight ability weakened during the Laguz Alliance war she felt lost without them. Micaiah has little interest in or taste for finery, and as a result in the days before the Laguz Alliance war, she eschewed using her lavish quarters in Daein Keep in favour of living among the people while assisting in the reconstruction of Nevassa. She is particularly resentful towards Ike, whom she blames for the state of affairs in Daein, and expresses this distaste whenever Sothe speaks fondly of him. Micaiah is extremely loyal to Daein and Pelleas, to the point of fighting the Laguz Alliance even when she sees no reason to do so, and refusing to give up when faced by the Greil Mercenaries."
The voice of
Moana is a perfect fit for the heroine of
Radiant Dawn, and though she's got one heck of a singing voice, her vocal chords can breathe a sigh of relief, as there is very, very little singing involved in the story.
B) Bryce Papenbrook as the voice of Edward, a myrmidon (later a swordmaster and then a trueblade)
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Bryce-Papenbrook/
"Prior to the formation of the Dawn Brigade and the events of
Radiant Dawn, Edward lived on the streets of Daein with no family. He managed to keep his cheerful personality despite his terrible status in Daein, but he would still leave this lifestyle behind in a heartbeat. Edward started training with a sword in hopes of joining the Mad King's War in order to move up in the world, but Ashnard's death put an end to that opportunity. Once the Begnion Occupational Army started to do as they pleased in Daein, Edward fled from town to town, managing to survive. Edward soon ran into Leonardo, who had become lost and cornered by the Occupational Army, and saved him from capture. Edward then taught Leonardo some basics for survival and Leonardo taught Edward some basics for fighting, and their friendship began to form and they became best friends. The two eventually met Micaiah, Nolan and Sothe and formed the Dawn Brigade to fight for a better tomorrow for Daein. During the story, he receives one of Daein's sacred weapons, the sword Caladbolg. Edward is an energetic, although somewhat reckless, swordsman who is easily excitable. He is a very simple person and believes in Micaiah's oracles without question. He thinks very highly of himself and has a very cheery disposition, but he is very naive, as shown by his belief that if someone says to do something, then it is the right thing to do. Edward hates the wars following the one for Daein's liberation, and thinks that if he can convince the other Daein soldiers to leave, the war will end. He knows Nevassa like the back of his hand, and is very helpful to the Dawn Brigade. His best friend, Leonardo, tries to teach him a sense of responsibility, but Edward often ignores his efforts."
C) Michael Sinterniklaas as the voice of Leonardo, an archer (later a sniper and then a marksman)
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Michael-Sinterniklaas/
"Leonardo is a mature and serious young man who had a noble upbringing before his family was ravaged by war. After Daein's defeat in the war, the military school where Leonardo studied fell into the Begnion Occupational Army's hands. While everyone is being sent to the prison camps, he flees alongside a few colleagues. However, those colleagues are captured, one after another, and Leonardo ends up being the last remaining one. When he loses his way and is cornered by the Occupation Army, he is saved by a youth of his age. That was his first encounter with Edward, who would later become his best friend. During the story, he receives one of Daein's sacred weapons, the bow Lughnasadh. Leonardo's personality is the opposite of his friend Edward, who Leonardo regularly nags in an effort to teach him self-control. His views can be best described as being down-to-earth, though he can be occasionally skeptical or bitter. Quiet by nature, Leonardo's personality rarely surfaces, though he is said to have good composure. For the most part, he is characterized by a subdued and pensive demeanor. He has a strong sense of loyalty to his country, and dislikes the senselessness of wars. He and Edward both seem to look up to Nolan, who acts like a mentor to them."
I know, I know, ironic casting considering Sinterniklaas previously voiced a Leonardo with a similar personality--though that one was of the Ninja Turtle variety.
D) Tom Cavanagh as the voice of Nolan, a fighter (later a warrior and then a reaver)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0146915/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Nolan is the official leader of the Dawn Brigade, although Micaiah usually acts as such throughout the story. He is the oldest member of the Dawn Brigade, and acts like a father figure to best friends Edward and Leonardo, two other members. Nolan became a successful merchant at a young age, but lost his fortune and status when betrayed by his associates. Downtrodden, he lost faith in mankind and began living as a tramp in the back alleys of Daein. At first, he thought the wars were none of his business. However, upon learning of the blood of his fellow countrymen being spilled by the Begnion Occupational Army, Nolan is inspired to become a freedom fighter, intent on liberating Daein. Initially, Nolan interfered with the Begnion forces alone, but after helping Edward and Leonardo escape from Begnion hunters, they joined forces. Rumors of their rebellious activities caught the ears of Sothe and Micaiah, who then contacted and joined them too. He then forms the Dawn Brigade to combat Begnion's oppression, with himself as the leader of the group. During the story, he receives one of Daein's sacred weapons, the axe Tarvos. Nolan is an experienced man and a leader who has seen life’s endurances, but has a gentle demeanor and does not act superior to the others. While the occasional jokes about his age bother him, he nonetheless is a reliable ally that offers sage advice to the younger members of the group. In contrast to his appearance and profession as a warrior, his hobby is reading, and can often be seen lost in a book while not in battle."
Given how Cavanaugh went through three different iterations of his character on The Flash, each with their own approach to mentoring others, I thought of Nolan being a way to combine each one.
2. Tara Platt as the voice of Laura, a cleric (later a bishop and then a saint)
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Tara-Platt/
"As a citizen of Kisca, a town in Daein, Laura met Micaiah's group while attempting to retrieve medicine for her Abbot which was taken by the Begnion Occupational Army's soldiers. She got captured and imprisoned at Gribe prison, but with Sothe’s help, she and Micaiah managed to escape. She then became a member of the Dawn Brigade and traveled with them. Aran, a childhood friend of Laura’s who joined the Begnion Occupational Army, decided to cut ties with them after being persuaded by her. Laura is a very positive person, being a girl of purity and devotion to the goddess Ashera. She also is very kind and gentle and goes to great lengths to help others wherever she can. However, she can become very misled, particularly when she refers to the Dawn Brigade as "bandits"."
3. Cameron Bowen as the voice of Aran, a soldier (later a halberdier and then a sentinel)
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Cameron-Bowen/
"Aran is a childhood friend of Laura, having lived in Kisca with her for a good part of his early life. He was orphaned in Daein as a child, and was afterwards adopted by a merchant family who lived in Begnion. Aran eventually joined the Begnion Army to express his gratitude towards the country that had given him refuge. Aran was initially posted as a guard at Glaive Prison, one of the Begnion-controlled prisons in Daein. However, when Laura is taken prisoner by Begnion's forces, Aran secretly allows the Dawn Brigade to sneak into the prison to rescue both Laura and Micaiah. In the following battle that ensues between the Dawn Brigade and the Begnion Guards, Aran appears as part of the enemy forces. When he is later confronted by Laura, Aran decides to enlist into the Dawn Brigade, which will later become part of the Daein Liberation Army. Aran is a relatively simple individual, attempting to do good as far as possible. Aran also appears to be sensitive and kind, especially in regards to Laura. However, Aran is known to express intense distaste and disgust for individuals he particularly loathes. When sent to engage Numida in battle, his battle conversation reveals snide disdain for the senator."
4. Colleen O'Shaughnessey as the voice of Meg, a knight (later a general and then a marshall)
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Colleen-OShaughnessey/
"Meg is the youngest daughter of Brom who hails from the village of Ohma. She travels in search of Brom's friend, Zihark, whom her father wants her to marry. Initially, she spies on Sothe and Micaiah until they notice her. Once she clarifies that she does not have any bad intentions, they accept her into the Dawn Brigade. In a later moment, she finally meets Zihark and reveals her plans to wed him at her father's request. However, he does not show interest in her and instead appears to be annoyed, which she does not notice.Meg is a kindhearted girl who works very hard at anything that she puts her mind to. She is quite strong and it is suggested that much of her weigh is muscle. She seems to be nervous and shy around some of the others, although she usually has a cheerful disposition."
5. Salli Richardson-Whitfield as the voice of Nailah, queen of Hatari
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0724757/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Nailah is the ruler of the lost nation of Hatari, located to the east of Daein. Nailah truly has the pride, air, and manners of a Queen. She can be distant, serious, and blunt. Despite this, however, she is very quick to form bonds with others, be they Laguz, Beorc, or even Branded, forming a lasting friendship with the elegant Heron Prince Rafiel, whom she later married, and a fast friendship with Micaiah. She refuses to ever let Rafiel go anywhere alone and orders her trusted vassal, Volug, to pose as a 'pet dog' for Micaiah during and after their adventures together. She puts great trust in her vassal Volug, though she can be quite blunt with him, likening him to a mere dog when he is in his unique "half-transformed" state. She adores Rafiel as he is, and grows quite angry at Ike when he suggests that he be more like his brother Reyson and emulate the Hawk King Tibarn, a suggestion that Rafiel is certainly willing to try."
Given how I mentioned Greg Weisman shows as an influence in most of my recent casts, I figured bringing in a
Gargoyles veteran wouldn't hurt. (Come to think of it, I'd be surprised if she made an appearance in the revival of
Young Justice.) My alternate choices were Gina Torres and Simone Missick.
6. Steve Blum as the voice of Volug, a wolf laguz
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Steve-Blum/
"Micaiah's party first encounters Volug when searching the desert for Prince Pelleas, alongside Queen Nailah and the heron Prince Rafiel. Nailah orders him to protect Micaiah, where he remains for the rest of the story, proving to be a valuable asset to the Dawn Brigade. As a result of the possible backlash that could arise from having a Laguz accompanying the Dawn Brigade, Volug, utilizing the Wildheart skill, poses as a pet dog in his transformed state. Volug usually holds his silence, and is very serious about accomplishing any tasks that he is set. He mainly speaks in the Ancient Language, and has, towards the end of the story, picked up a stuttering command of the Tellius language. Volug is also shown to possess a sharp sense of humor, which can be seen on the battlefield when he is spoken to. An example of such an instance can be seen in one conversation, where he comments: "You know how hard it is to be charming when you never say anything? You should try it. It's hard"."
7. Josh Keaton as the voice of Rafiel, prince of the Serenes Herons
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Josh-Keaton/
"Rafiel is the first prince of Serenes, the lost heron country that was crushed by the Begnion Empire. Much like all other heron laguz, he is unable to fight, and only able to sing galdr to support other units in battle. Rafiel was captured by slave traders before the Serenes Massacre, and sold at an auction to Hetzel. He then became very ill, and was nursed back to health by Hetzel. Rafiel temporarily regained the use of his wings upon regaining his vigor, and attempted to embark on a flight towards Serenes. Whether he saw the effects of the Massacre that had occurred in his Forest or not, he wound up flying off-course, resulting in him veering into the depths of the infamous "Desert of Death". He was later found, unconscious, by Queen Nailah, who brought him back to Hatari and did her best to nurse him back to health. They later married. As a result of both trauma and extreme exhaustion, Rafiel had lost his ability to fly. He then made the decision to reside in Hatari for a while, before heading towards Daein with Nailah and her loyal subject, Volug. Unlike his siblings Reyson, who emulates his brusque protector Tibarn, and Leanne, who is rather stubborn and childish, Rafiel is more akin to how a Heron is expected to be: passive and serene. This has led to Ike to comment on how he fears his shouting will injure Rafiel, whom he perceives as being "frail" and "gentle". Rafiel keeps up a calm demeanor in almost any given situation, even when he is on the battlefield. He is mature and nurturing when dealing with others, be they Beorc, Laguz, or even Branded, the differences between them holding very little meaning to him. Rafiel is also extremely loyal to anyone whom he considers to be a dear friend of his, and is shown to willingly risk his life to help them unless they forbid him from doing so."
8. Max Mittleman as the voice of Pelleas, a dark mage
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Max-Mittelman/
"Pelleas grew up in an orphanage in Daein, having no idea of his supposed royal blood. When he was thirteen years old, he made a pact with the spirits to protect him and grant him magical power, thus he obtained the mark of the Spirit Charmer. It was because of this mark, and Pelleas’s blue, curly hair, similar to Ashnard’s, that led Izuka, who was at this time already working for the Begnion Senate, to claim that Pelleas was Ashnard’s only son. He showed Pelleas’s mark to Almedha (who was half-mad with grief from losing her birth-right, her son, and her brother Rajaion) and she immediately believed Izuka’s story, as did Pelleas. Izuka continued to spread the rumor of Ashnard’s heir, and this led to the formation of the Liberation Army of Daein. The rumors eventually caught the attention of the Dawn Brigade, who joined forces with the liberation army, with Micaiah as its commander. It is on Pelleas’s behalf that the Liberation Army overthrows the Occupational Army. On the day of his coronation, Izuka fools him into signing a Blood Pact with Begnion that forces him to follow the orders of Begnion’s Senate; should he not, the senate would invoke the pact’s curse, leading to the slow deaths of all of Daein’s citizens. This pact is what forces Pelleas to send the Daein Army against the Laguz Alliance. Later, he presents the national weapons of Daein to the original members of the Dawn Brigade for their service, the weapons being Caladbolg, Lughnasadh, and Tarvos, to Edward, Leonardo, and Nolan, respectively. Upon conferring with Micaiah, he frantically begins to research a means of dispelling the pact, and learns that its curse can only be prevented if the signer of the pact is killed by a third party. He then asks that Micaiah kill him to save Daein. Micaiah refuses the request, and Pelleas realizes that killing Lekain would also dispel the blood pact, and he thus begins to regain his confidence. He also finds out that his mother is a Dragon Laguz, and this is what first leads him to question his heritage. He joins up with Tibarn's segment of the army in the fight against the Disciples of Order. When Tibarn’s group confront Izuka, Pelleas learns from him that he is not the true heir: he was merely intended to be Izuka’s puppet. Izuka had apparently been promised dominion over Daein if he fulfilled the senate’s wishes. Pelleas is shown to be a kind yet weak leader who follows Almedha’s and Izuka’s advice without question, though his love for his country is shown to be extraordinarily strong. He comes off as quite shy as well, for he never gives gifts to his soldiers directly, but prefers to give them to people he trusts, like Micaiah or Sothe, and tells them to do what they see fit with such gifts. He realizes his own inexperience, which is why he trusts Izuka, who he claims has given him a life and a purpose, to advise him on everything about being a ruler, despite his twisted nature. Pelleas is also someone who feels he should not burden others with his problems, which is why he is so hesitant to confess his signing of the blood pact. He is also very hard on himself, for he believes that the only way to redeem his mistakes as king is to take his own life, which is later discovered to be futile. His rash decision to throw his life away is what causes Micaiah to tell him to stop running away from his problems."
9. Kimberly Brooks as the voice of Fiona, a cavalier (later a paladin and then a silver knight)
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Kimberly-Brooks
"Fiona is the daughter of Lanvega, one of Daein's Great Four Riders. She is also the ruler of the independent Marado territory in Daein. After The Mad King's War ended and her father died, Fiona continued his legacy and sought to maintain her country's safety. Initially, she sides with the Begnion Occupational Army, though Jarod does not trust her. After seeing the Begnion Occupational Army hold civilians as hostages to make the Dawn Brigade surrender, Fiona defects and joins Micaiah's side. From this point on, she aids Micaiah in the liberation of Daein and remains as one of her soldiers during the war against the Laguz Alliance. Following this, she joins the heroes in their mission to defeat Ashera. Fiona has a childish visage, but she is a true warrior at heart. She takes pride in fighting as a knight of Daein and believes in Micaiah's cause. She is also honorable and opposes cruelty towards civilians, which lead her to betray the Begnion Occupational Army."
10. Nika Futterman as the voice of Vika, a raven laguz
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Nika-Futterman/
"Formerly serving as a laguz slave, Vika is a member of the Laguz Emancipation Army, alongside Tormod and Muarim. Vika is among the first of the laguz to sense that Micaiah is a Branded. This involves her feeling an odd sensation of discomfort when Micaiah is near her, whereupon she will be urged to rise and flee."
11. Elizabeth Henstrige as the voice of Heather, a rogue (later a 'whisper')
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4464857/?ref_=nv_sr_2
"Heather is a wandering rogue who scours the countryside villages of Crimea for gold to pay for her sickly mother's medicine. Heather is introduced when she arrives in the village of Ohma during a battle. Around this time, Brom and Nephenee enlist her aid in stopping an insurrection in Ohma. For the duration of Ludveck's rebellion, she assists Lucia and Elincia in their efforts to stop it. She also assists in the fight against the Disciples of Order. Heather is a cunning young woman who loves to trick men into giving gold and other possessions to her. It is implied that she is the rogue who tricked Gatrie into giving gold to her during the events of Path of Radiance, although this is only mentioned in one of the support conversations between him and Shinon. It is stated in the
Tellius Recollection Heather is only attracted to women. She flirts with the other female characters, especially Nephenee, and seems to dislike men."
Yay, finally brought Simmons into a cast! I honestly wanted to cast Henstrige as a character that was the total opposite of her SHIELD agent, and given the implications in the character's backstory, add a bit of diversity to her filmography.
12. Khary Payton as the voice of Skrimir, prince of Gallia
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Khary-Payton/
"Skrimir is the prince of Gallia, and is the nephew of Gallia's King Caineghis. Prior to the events of
Radiant Dawn, Skrimir was named Caineghis's successor, and forbidden from partaking in the Mad King’s War due to his penchant for reckless bloodlust and inability to resolve even domestic affairs. According to Ranulf, his second-in-command, Skrimir's actions in the Laguz-Begnion War will prove his ability to lead his people. To Ranulf's unending annoyance, he is an extremely impulsive and fiery commander who cares nothing for strategy. He holds Soren's strategic mind in high regard: at one point, he even invites Soren to sit beside him at a meeting (which, of course, Soren declines). His recklessness is taken advantage of by Begnion's General Zelgius, who challenges the Gallian commander to a duel: Skrimir suffers a humiliating defeat. The loss deals a great blow to Skrimir's pride, and he is forced to subdue his impulsiveness. A somewhat-wiser, more becalmed Skrimir then leads the Laguz Alliance back to Gallia; he later accompanies Micaiah's Silver Army to Begnion. Though Soren (and some others) frequently point out his flaws, Skrimir is generally loved by and has the support of his subjects for his courage and tendency to not worry about the small things. After suffering an injury from his fight with Zelgius, he painfully learned the shock of defeat and the value of tact, personally apologizing to Ranulf for his blunders, showing signs of personal growth."
When casting Payton in nearly each season of my
Fire Emblem show, I took inspiration from past characters in his filmography. With Jaffar in
Blazing Blade, I was inspired by his Kaldur'ahm circa season two of
Young Justice; with Garret in
Binding Blade, I took a cue from his character Manny in
Ben 10: Alien Force; with Muarim here and in
Path of Radiance, I had in mind Kaldur'ahm circa
Young Justice season one, with a hint of his original portrayal of Cyborg in
Teen Titans (not
Go!). For Skrimir, the big idea is based on his current portrayal of Grimlock on
Transformers: Robots in Disguise (the 2015 version).
13. Ogie Banks as the voice of Kyza, a tiger laguz
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/ogie-banks/
"Kyza is a laguz officer, serving under the command of Ranulf. Kyza is a superior officer to Lyre, and seeks to keep her from acting out against others, alongside fighting over Ranulf's attention with her. Kyza is a rather dutiful and loyal individual, but is perceived to be boring, stiff, and humorless by others around him. He is essentially the polar opposite of Lyre, with their differences repeatedly leading to heated arguments breaking out on a regular basis especially when competing for Ranulf's attention. Despite these feuds, Kyza and Lyre are close friends. Kyza tries to resolve conflicts within the army, calming Lyre down after Shinon offended her with bigoted slurs, and apologizing to Shinon on her behalf. Despite his normally serious and formal demeanor, when around close friends he changes his behavior and talks and acts in a more feminine way. Kyza has a crush on his superior officer, Ranulf, and repeatedly tries to gain his attention."
14. Masasa Moyo as the voice of Lyre, a wildcat laguz
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Masasa-Moyo/
"Lyre is a Wildcat Laguz of the Beast tribe, as well as the younger twin sister of Lethe. She possibly has feelings for Commander Ranulf. She hates war and fighting, but joins the army to be with Lethe and Ranulf because she wants to fight alongside her sister and couldn't bear to see her die. Despite being Lethe's twin sister, Lyre's personality is a near polar opposite. She's playful and outgoing, counter to Lethe's more serious and stern nature. When introduced, she is also more at ease with beorc than Lethe initially is in
Path of Radiance. However, Lyre seems to be the pettier of the two sisters. In one conversation, she claims that Shinon is lucky that she did not claw the smile off his face after an altercation between the two and Gatrie. In a different one, she begs Ranulf to give her the gift he offers instead of giving it to Kyza, her excuse being that she is the smaller and more helpless of the two."
15. James Remar as the voice of Renning, a gold knight
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001664/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Renning is a member of the Crimean Royal family, and is the younger brother of King Ramon, making him Elincia's uncle. Bastian is loyal to him and Geoffrey is his disciple. He was successor to the throne of Crimea, held by his older brother King Ramon, and was the founder and commander of the Crimean Royal Knights. He personally helped lead the disarrayed Crimean forces against the invading Daein, marching to the front lines in order to help buy Elincia enough time to escape, but he was defeated along with the king after a direct confrontation with the Mad King Ashnard himself. However, instead of being killed like Ramon, Renning was captured by Daein and turned into their own knight, by experimenting on him with Izuka's feral elixir (which was meant only for laguz). He then became Bertram, one of the Four Riders of Daein in The Mad King's War. After the Crimean Liberation Army defeated him, Bastian realized Bertram was in fact Renning, and though he was thought to have perished during the battle at Fort Pinell, Bastian had secretly recovered his body with the intention of healing him of his ailment. During most of
Radiant Dawn, Bastian had Renning in Castle Fayre, the former desperately trying to find a cure for the latter but to no avail. Some time after Daein's liberation Bastian hired Volke to seek a cure for Renning, which led to the eventual capture of Izuka and his detainment at Castle Fayre. Once Ashera cast her judgement upon Tellius, Bastian and Geoffrey set off with the still-crazed Renning and the fugitive Izuka to search for Reyson. After Izuka is slain, Reyson heals Renning with the Galdr of Rebirth, and the latter joins the party the night before the decisive battle within the Tower of Guidance. Geoffrey did mention that he now held Renning's old title and that he "wouldn't give it up easily". Renning then said that he "would remind him why he once held that position". As a knight, Renning is known to be a peerless warrior and whose bravery was said to be unmatched. Besides his bravery, Renning was also known to be quite politically capable due to his royal heritage as the king’s younger brother. He was also extremely popular among the people. Though this popularity led to his nomination as the next king, he was also the one with the greatest sympathy for Elincia’s situation of being raised in a secluded villa. Despite his many ordeals through the series, the gallant figure he was known for had not changed after his recovery, being an inspiration for Elincia and those around her."

When Geoffrey responds by greeting him as Devdan, Danved asserts that "Danved is definitely not Devdan", and that "many people often make [the] mistake" of mixing the two up. Dumbstruck by Danved's bizarre display of eccentricity, Geoffrey is momentarily stunned, whereupon Danved goes on to shower himself with self-praise, claiming that he can fight "like a bear" and "like a tiger", and is thus "pretty amazing"."

4. Begnion Heroes (and one helpful....nuisance)
A) Ariel Winter as the voice of Sanaki, apostle and empress of Begnion
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1736769/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Sanaki and her retainers escape Begnion when the Begnion Senate, led by Duke Lekain of Gaddos, seizes control of the Empire; she subsequently forms an alliance with Gallia, Crimea, Phoenicis, and Serenes to reclaim her throne. Lekain later reveals that Sanaki once had an elder sister: only the firstborn daughter of Altina's lineage can hear Ashera's voice, they claim, and so Sanaki is a false Apostle. Sanaki later joins the Silver Army on the march on the Tower of Guidance. Upon defeating Lekain, she discards the title of "Apostle" and rules only as Begnion's Empress. Unlike her older sister (who is later revealed to be Micaiah), Sanaki did not inherit the brand and therefore she cannot hear the voice of the goddess Yune."

"Largo returns in
Radiant Dawn as the co-owner of a pub with his wife Calill and adopted daughter Amy. He is shown to have lost one of his arms, a result of an unspecified accident that occurred in the timeline between Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. When Ashera casts her judgment upon the continent, Largo is one amongst thousands of people to be turned into stone. Upon the defeat of Ashera, he is un-petrified, and continues to run his bar with Calill and Amy."
3. Kelly Hu as the voice of Almedha, former princess of Goldoa
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Kelly-Hu/
"Almedha is the former wife of Daein's King Ashnard, and allegedly the mother of Pelleas. She is also a black dragon laguz and the daughter of Goldoa's king Dheginsea, as well as the sister to Kurthnaga and Rajaion. Years prior to the events of
Path of Radiance, she left Goldoa for Daein, where she grew close to Ashnard, becoming his wife and bearing his son. Because she consorted with a beorc, she lost her laguz abilities shortly after giving birth. Ashnard had hoped that a half-dragon child would possess some kind of special power; when he learned that the child did not, he used his son's life as bait to lure Rajaion, the Dragon Prince and Almedha's brother, to Daein. With his son a disappointment and Almedha stricken powerless, Ashnard grew to find her a nuisance. After becoming separated from her son and estranged from Ashnard, Almedha continued to live a quiet existence in Daein. She remained outside of the public eye during the events of the Mad King's War, only to make a return to Daein's forefront after being informed that her long-lost son had returned. Queen Elincia asks her at one point if she knows why Ashnard had chosen to invade Crimea, but Almedha has no answer for her, as the last time she had spoken to Ashnard was over twenty years prior. While under the belief that Pelleas is her son, Almedha all but forces him to follow her advice, all the while doting on him to an almost smothering degree. Having witnessed Ashnard's use of the Blood Pact to attain power, she instantly recognizes the Mark of the Pact that manifests on Pelleas's arm. Nevertheless, she remains silent, terrified that, should she mention the means of breaking the pact, Micaiah would kill her son. Her worst fears are realized when Pelleas independently learns the way of ending the pact's power over Daein: he orders Micaiah to end his life. At the end of the battle with Ashera, Almedha and her younger brother Kurthnaga discover that Soren, not Pelleas, is her true son. Almedha is an overprotective, aloof, and overbearing woman, so emotionally and mentally broken by all of her ordeals that she claims at one point that she would rather have all the people of Daein die than lose her son again. (Her son Soren incidentally shares some of her emotional nature, as demonstrated when he reveals his past to Ike.) Almedha also has an apparent distrust of Micaiah despite Micaiah's efforts in assisting Prince Pelleas during the fight to liberate Daein and the subsequent rebuilding of the nation."
4. Molly C. Quinn as the voice of Yune, goddess of chaos and transformation
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0703939/?ref_=nv_sr_4
"Yune is the Goddess of Chaos, and one half of Ashunera, the other being Ashera. Dheginsea framed her as being a dark god after Ashera's Three Heroes sealed her in Lehran's Medallion, using seid magic. At one time, Ashera wanted to destroy her at all costs, but Lehran convinced her to seal Yune away. Throughout the story of Radiant Dawn, she takes the form of the small orange bird Micaiah owns, and Yune speaks to Micaiah in this form before Micaiah sings the Galdr of Release. If the chaos of war forced her to awake, then Ashera would also awake and pass her judgement upon the world. But, if the Galdr of Release awoke her, then Ashera would have to speak to Yune first before passing her judgement. Unfortunately, Ashera broke this agreement and turned most of Tellius' inhabitants into stone. After Micaiah sang the Galdr of Release, Yune uses Micaiah's body to talk to the mortals who would lead her army against Ashera's Disciples of Order."
#Cast of Villains/Antagonists
-Troy Baker as the voice of Jarod, a halberdier and commander of the Begnion Occupational Army
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Troy-Baker/
"Jarod was the commander of the Begnion Occupational Army in Daein. He formerly served in the personal army of the Duke Numida as the Duke's personal general. He was first seen killing a Begnion soldier for not catching the Dawn Brigade and later killing three citizens out of the body of citizens that blocked the Begnion soldiers from chasing the Dawn Brigade (they stood down immediately). He answers only to Numida, one of the more powerful senators of Begnion. Once Empress Sanaki heard about the situation in Daein, Numida betrayed Jarod, pinning all the blame on him. After hearing this, he decided to make a "last stand" and tried to kill Daein's only hope - Micaiah. However, before he strikes, the Black Knight warps in front of Micaiah, protecting her. After being apparently struck down, it is revealed that Alder, his subordinate and a firm believer in Jarod, took the blow for him, which killed him. Alder stated before he passed on that although Jarod participated in inhumane acts and did unbearably cruel things, he (Alder) always sensed that Jarod wasn't all evil and that there was a kindred spirit buried beneath him (Jarod). The Black Knight then refuses to strike at Jarod again, stating that his "sword is not made for killing those who will not raise their weapons". He is killed in Nevassa, in Daein Keep when the Daein Liberation Army takes control over Nevassa back after Jarod remorselessly destroys Nevassa as one last act of defiance. He is well known for the motivating speech given to the soldiers defending Daein Keep."
-Dominic Cooper as the voice of Ludveck, an general and mastermind of the Crimeand rebellion
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1002641/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Ludveck was formally the Duke of Felirae, and the instigator of the rebel movement against Queen Elincia. He planned to capture Melior, the Crimean capital, and make himself king of the country. All of his actions are due to his dissatisfaction with Queen Elincia's policies, which he regarded as weak. Ludveck was a very arrogant man and was entirely convinced of his own superiority. This overconfidence was not unfounded, however, considering he still was able to hold a trump card over Queen Elincia after his capture. He refused to recognize when he was ultimately defeated by Elincia's forces and the reinforcement of Crimean Royal Knights. Despite his failure, he still believed himself to be a better ruler than Elincia. Nevertheless, Ludveck still has a very strong love towards his motherland Crimea, although he is much less hesitant and would take a strong arm in achieving his goal, similar to how Mad King Ashnard ruled over Daein. Ludveck was very fond of Lady Lucia; he praised that she is a truly splendid woman. Ironically, his plan for the usurpation of the Crimean throne included her possible execution by hanging. In addition, Ludveck cut off a significant amount of Lucia's hair for punishment, humiliation, and as a threatening message to the Queen's side."
-Tom Kenny as the voice of Izuka, a summoner and creator of the 'Feral Ones'
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Tom-Kenny/
"Izuka returns in
Radiant Dawn, where he is introduced as Pelleas' adviser and caretaker. Pelleas explains that Izuka is the one who revealed his lineage to him and reunited him with his mother, Almedha. Because of this, Pelleas' loyalty to Izuka is unwavering. At first Izuka is extremely hostile to both Sothe and Micaiah, but appoints Micaiah commander of the Daein Liberation Army upon discovering that she is the famous Silver-Haired Maiden. Sothe is well aware that Izuka only wishes to use Micaiah's popularity to rally the people of Daein behind Pelleas, but goes along with Micaiah's decision to accept Izuka's offer regardless. He proves to both be a very poor strategist and a constant thorn in Micaiah's side during the retaking of Daein. After Pelleas is crowned, Izuka tricks Pelleas into signing a blood pact with Lekain, for whom he had been working the entire time, thus bending Daein to the will of the Begnion Senate. It is later revealed that Izuka vanished without a trace shortly after Pelleas' crowning. While Almedha suspects that his disappearance is the work of people trying to throw Daein into disarray, he had in fact been kidnapped by Volke at the behest of Bastian. The latter was desperately searching for a way to cure Duke Renning, whom had been fed the elixir that turns Laguz into Feral Ones during the Mad King's War. Izuka thus spends the vast majority of the game in custody at the castle of Fayre in Crimea, where he undergoes a lengthy interrogation by Bastian. Eventually Izuka offers to make an antidote in exchange for his freedom, but Bastian refuses, not willing to let him roam free. After Ashera's Judgement hits Tellius, Bastian joins the Tibarn's arm of Yune's forces, bringing Izuka and Volke with him. Unfortunately, Izuka escapes, prompting a frantic chase that culminates in a battle in which he summons waves of Feral Ones to defend himself, to no avail as he ends up slain by Tibarn's contingent of Yune's army."
-Jeff Bennett as the voice of Numida, Duke Goranaul of Begnion
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Jeff-Bennett/
"Numida was a high-ranking Begnion senator. He was tasked with ruling Daein following the Crimean victory in The Mad King's War, though he proved abusive of his power, sending able-bodied young men to work without pay in labor camps and levying goods from the Daein people for the Begnion Occupational Army's use. After the Daein Liberation Army begins to emerge victorious against the Begnion Occupational Army, Numida disavows all knowledge of these abuses, instead blaming his own General Jarod for such atrocities in order to avert blame. During the battle against the Disciples of Order, he was killed in the Grann Desert by the forces of the Empress Sanaki."
-Paul Reubens as the voice of Valtome, Duke Culbert of Begnion
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000607/?ref_=nv_sr_2
"Valtome is the duke of Culbert and a high-ranking member of the Begnion Senate. Valtome is vain, greedy, and arrogant, believing himself - and by extension, the Begnion Senate - to be flawless, infallible, and the rightful rulers of anything they desire. He demands total, unfliching obedience from anybody he views as his inferiors, even from foreign rulers. He makes no attempt to hide his utter disrespect for others, insulting both their intelligence and their broader worth in colorful detail and in a very patronizing, condescending mannner, treating others as if being obedient servants of the Senate is for their own good. He has a strange reoccurring laugh, transcribed as 'uwee hee hee!', and he claims to be 'divinity itself' upon engaging party members in battle. He was, however, shown to be a coward when he runs from the combined forces of the Greil Mercenaries and the Crimean Royal Knights. Valtome has a peculiar, antagonistic obsession with Zelgius, which only grows more intense as the war continues. He sees Zelgius as rigid and pompous, and keeps trying to surprise him and poke holes in his stoic demeanor. After the incident with Elincia laying down her sword and the humiliation of his forces being defeated, he becomes particularly obsessed with finding and punishing Zelgius, refusing to believe that he was not hiding in Elincia and Tibarn's ranks."
-Michael Bell as the voice of Hetzel, Duke Asmin of Begnion
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Michael-Bell/
"Hetzel is the duke of Asmin, and a senior member of the Begnion Senate who appears as a faint-hearted old man that, despite his opposition to the Empress Sanaki, does not appear to be an entirely antagonistic character. Though he never condoned the senate's malicious actions towards the herons or the apostle, his lack of initiative and inability to oppose the other senators is ultimately what allowed them to continue their actions. As the purchaser of the heron prince Rafiel, Hetzel pays an exorbitant price only to return the heron to Serenes Forest following the recovery of his health. Ultimately, Hetzel is a coward, unable to stand against his colleagues in the senate nor willing to reject Ashera. He is content to take the path of least resistance and in general only does the right thing when such actions don't threaten his sense of personal security."
-Tim Curry as the voice of Lekain, Duke Gaddos of Begnion
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000347/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Lekain is a high-ranking Begnion Senator and the Duke of Gaddos, as well as the Vice Minister of Begnion. He is the leader of the more corrupt circles of the Begnion Senate, and attempts to overthrow Begnion's empress, Sanaki. Lekain, despite his corrupt nature, proves himself to be quite resourceful and a master manipulator. He fooled the weak leaders of Kilvas and Daein into signing Blood Pacts, effectively bending those countries to the Senate's will. He was also the mastermind of the Serenes Massacre, framing the Herons for the assassination of Apostle Misaha, inflaming beorc-laguz relations for years to come. Despite his political and strategic savvy, it is eventually revealed that Lekain is nothing but a pawn of Sephiran (and later, Ashera), who used Lekain's greed and lust for power to generate enough chaos to raise Ashera from her slumber. After Ashera judges Tellius, he goes completely off the deep end and proclaims himself to be Ashera's chosen one, despite having no knowledge of how Ashera returned. Indeed when questioned by Ike about Lehran's Medallion, Lekain responds with bewilderment, having never heard of such an item. Throughout the story Lekain remains wholly unaware of his true role as a pawn of greater powers, and dies convinced that he's Ashera's chosen one."
-Roger Craig Smith as the voice of Levail, a sentinel
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Roger-Craig-Smith/
"Levail joined the Begnion army as a young man after he came of age, and served for around 20 years prior to the outbreak of the war with the Laguz Alliance. In his youth he was inspired by Shiharam and Haar of the royal dracoknights, as well as Zelgius, and dedicated himself to living an honorable, chivalrous life like theirs. Levail is a strong believer in the ideals of chivalry, and even before they met, he was a great admirer of Zelgius because of this. He lamented how, by the time he joined the Begnion knighthood, chivalry had all but disappeared, and idolized Zelgius as the last true knight and the last remnant of the honor and spirit which the Begnion army once had. He proudly admitted to being willing to follow Zelgius no matter what happened, even if it meant dying in his name. He also admired Shiharam and Haar as worthy knights, and even though he was very young at the time, he considers their departure from Begnion to be the moment when the Begnion army lost its way. During his tenure as Lekain's general, he grew greatly frustrated with the behavior of the senators and their obession with glory and rewards over the practical reality of the war, and while he attempted to reason with them, they never listened. He was also critical of how the senators' refusal to work together or figure out which of them should take the lead led to their armies performing poorly and without central direction, and believed that Zelgius would rectify that. He was willing to bluntly criticize the military plans of senators to their faces in a heated way, getting particularly heated when Zelgius's own life was at stake, such as when Valtome wished to have him executed. Even after Ashera's awakening, Levail did not care for her cause even as he led the Disciples of Order, and fought only for Zelgius, who in turn fought for Sephiran. Levail's loyalties lied with Zelgius above all others, and even though he insisted he was not an enemy to Empress Sanaki, he followed Zelgius's orders which put them on opposing sides in battle."
-Ian Anthony Dale as the voice of the Black Knight/Zelgius
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1406333/?ref_=nv_sr_1
"Zelgius was born in Daein; however, while growing up, he had a miserable childhood because he was a Branded, with the mark being on his back (according to him, someone on his father's side was with a laguz). Because of this, he was looked down on and hated by his own family. This prompted him to leave home and join the Daein army in order to escape his suffering. While in the army, he served under General Gawain, one of the Four Riders of Daein, whom he respected and wanted to fight one day. Even during his time in the army, he was afraid of becoming close to people out of fear that they would discover his secret. Because of this, he was always alone. One day, he met Sephiran, who was in Daein at the time. Knowing that he could trust him, Zelgius showed him the mark on his back, hoping that he would be able to get rid of it, and told him about his past. While saddened to hear about his suffering, Sephiran sadly told him that he did not know how to get rid of the mark. Zelgius immediately apologized to him for thinking that he would be able to get rid of the mark. Zelgius then told Sephiran that due to him being a branded, his body aged slower than his fellow soldiers, which is why he always wore his armor, even when indoors. However, he knows that he cannot keep this up forever and that in a few years, he will have to leave the army, with his only regret being that he will not be able to fight under Gawain. Sephiran then told Zelgius that when he does leave the army, to seek him out, saying that, with his help, his plan will succeed and, at the very least, he will not be alone. Hearing this, Zelgius takes him up on his offer and agrees to look for him when he leaves the army. After leaving the Daein army, he reunited with Sephiran and worked for him. During this, he enlisted in the Begnion army and rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the commander of the Begnion army. Eventually, Sephiran gives Zelgius a special suit of full-body black armor that had been blessed by the goddess Ashera, making it impenetrable to all weapons except those that have been divinely blessed, such as Ragnell. He also had access to numerous other arcane items as well, such as the Warp Powder he used to travel, his sword Alondite, and the sword Ragnell, which later becomes Ike's weapon. It was revealed in Radiant Dawn that Bastian sent men to find the Black Knight's body sometime after the castle's collapse during Path of Radiance, but they were unable to locate any trace of him. One theory on how he survived is that he used his Warp Powder to escape. It is also explained in Radiant Dawn that it was Sephiran who sent Zelgius to Ashnard, so as to observe Ashnard and see if he was capable of causing a continent-wide war to awaken the Goddesses Ashera and Yune. In Radiant Dawn, he aids Micaiah and the Dawn Brigade in their retaking of Daein, and later leads Begion's Central Army against the Laguz Alliance. He later goes on to free an imprisoned Sephiran, and aids him in awakening Ashera. During the final battle against the Disciples of Order in the Tower of Guidance, Ike reveals that he knows the truth of the Black Knight being Zelgius, and thus the man who killed his father Greil. The two face off in a final duel, one that sees Zelgius fall, happy that he faced the equivalent of his former teacher Greil in his prime. Apart from his duty as a soldier, the Black Knight appears to care only about mastering the art of swordsmanship, having pursued and slain Ike's father Greil for the specific purpose of surpassing his former mentor. Due to Greil's surprising failure to put up a solid fight, the Black Knight waits instead for Ike to become strong enough to oppose him, in hopes of being able to fight someone who could be seen as equal to Greil in his glory days."
-Brian George as the voice of Dheginsea, king of Goldoa
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0313364/?ref_=nv_sr_3
"Dheginsea first appears in Radiant Dawn when the Greil Mercenaries and the Laguz Alliance forces accidentally end up in Goldoa while escaping Begnion forces led by Valtome. He at first denies them passage, but Kurthnaga and Ena convince him to let them through by reminding him of Reyson and Leanne's help in giving his son Rajaion a peaceful death. Later on, after Ashera awakens from her slumber and casts her judgement on the world, when Yune's army finally reaches the Tower of Guidance, Yune tells them that when she went to Goldoa to gather allies to help her fight Ashera, she discovered that the country had been abandoned, meaning that the dragon laguz are probably inside the tower. After defeating the remaining Disciples of Order and General Zelgius, Yune's army confronts Dheginsea and the other dragon laguz. Here, Dheginsea tells the group, which include his son, Kurthnaga, and Ena, that they have broken their vow to Ashera by constantly warring and must now await their judgement. When Micaiah tells him that it was not war that woke Ashera up, but the Galdr of Release, he does not believe her. Afterwards, he transforms into his black dragon form and attacks the group. However, the group, whose weapons have been blessed by Yune, are able to defeat him. Defeated, Dheginsea returns to his human form asks the group how they were able to defeat him. Yune, while speaking through Micaiah, tells him that she had given them her blessing. Realzing that he is talking to Yune, he apologizes for all he has done and admits that he changed history and named Yune a "dark god," despite knowing all along that she wasn't evil, but was merely too young to control her power. When Yune asks him why he sided with Ashera if he really knew what happened, Dheginsea says that he thought of it as punishment for all he has done, resulting in Yune calling him a "stubborn scalebag". Dheginsea then asks Yune to forgive him for all he has done, which she does. Knowing that he does not have long to live, he orders Gareth to gather their remaining soldiers and to follow Kurthnaga from on, appointing him as the new king of Goldoa. He then thanks Nasir for always serving him, despite having once left Goldoa out of disgust, and wishes Ena, who is pregnant with Rajaion's child, a life full of happiness. He then allows everyone to go on without him, since he cannot move. After everyone leaves the room, Dheginsea succumbs to his injuries and dies."
-Phil LaMarr (with a variant of his Samurai Jack) as the voice of Sephiran/Lehran, a saint

"During the final battle at the Tower of Guidance, the truth behind Sephiran is revealed. Sephiran was once known as Lehran, the thousand year-old heron who accompanied Ashera in her battle against the dark god, and imprisoned Yune within the medallion that would one day be known as the Fire Emblem. Upon marrying Altina, the founder of Begnion, she bore his child, the very first Branded, thereby creating the Apostolic dynasty. Every member of this dynasty was blessed, as was Lehran himself, with the ability to hear the voice of the Goddess Ashera. Shortly after the birth of his child, Lehran lost the ability to transform and sing galdr, becoming neither Beorc nor Laguz; he became suicidal for a time because of this. Lehran retreated to Goldoa, where he lived secretly under King Dheginsea's care for seven hundred years. He later departed Goldoa in search of a means by which he might end the mistreatment of laguz slaves due to the extreme isolationism of the dragon kingdom. While in Begnion, Lehran met Misaha, the Apostle who would become the grandmother of the Empress Sanaki, and convinced her to reveal her Brand to the world. The Begnion senators then assassinated Misaha and framed the Herons for it. This event led to the Serenes Massacre, in which Begnion citizens burned the Serenes Forest down. All of the herons were killed, save for the royal herons Reyson, Leanne, Rafiel, Lillia, and their father, Lorazieh. This led Sephiran to believe that the continent of Tellius deserved nothing but destruction. It is also implied that he somehow brought Micaiah to Daein and dropped her off there to protect her from the senators since she was the Firstborn heir, being the one to become Begnion's Empress and Apostle. Lehran was likely afraid that Micaiah will suffer the same fate as her grandmother did. His final goal--the revival of Ashera for the destruction of the world and the purging of both Beorc and Laguz--is nearly fulfilled, as all those not under the protection of Yune are transformed into stone with the outbreak of war across the continent. In Sephiran's eyes, the Beorc and Laguz are unable to change, and will continue their path of violence and destruction for as long as they are permitted to do so. For this reason, he wishes for Ashera to cleanse the world of violence and reconstruct the world into a more peaceful place. Sephiran is fought by Ike and his chosen companions in the Tower of Guidance, where Ike has figured out that Sephiran is behind many of the past events, alongside his identity as the master of the Black Knight, Zelgius. He openly admits to all of the tragedies he has wrought, much to Sanaki's dismay and Ike's anger. Ike then vows to make Sephiran's death as painful as possible, whereupon the party defeats him in order to fight Ashera. It is revealed in Ike's "memory scene" that it was Sephiran who sealed Ike's memories of his mother's death to spare him the pain of having witnessed Elena's death at the hands of her beloved. This causes Ike's motivation to defeat Sephiran to be altered, as he wishes to gain more answers about that event instead of simply killing him. Micaiah then manages to save him from the cold embrace of death, whereupon Ike convinces him to try to make up for his past actions and help them defeat Ashera. While Sephiran is reluctant at first, he eventually sees the error of his ways, and joins the army."

"Ashera is the goddess of Tellius who is worshipped across the continent. She sleeps in Begnion's Tower of Guidance and is awakened when the war reaches its peak. About eight hundred years before the events of Radiant Dawn, a great conflict arose between the Beorc and Laguz. Ashunera became distressed by the violent nature of her creations, and in a flood of emotion, Ashunera sank most of the world beneath a great deluge, sparing only the inhabitants of the mountainous continent of Tellius from drowning. The widespread loss of life only served to increase Ashunera's distress. Blaming herself, and believing that her emotions (personified as the childlike goddess Yune) were the cause of the disaster, Ashunera cast out her feelings.
Devoid of emotion, Ashunera became Ashera, Order Incarnate; her emotions became Yune, Goddess of Chaos. Ashera discerned that she should rid the world of chaos; she summoned her Three Heroes to seal away Yune in Lehran's Medallion, which would come to be known as the Fire Emblem. Ashera decreed that she would slumber one thousand years, and that if she were awakened by the breaking of the seal on the Fire Emblem, she would pass judgment on the beorc and laguz. She then went to rest within the Tower of Guidance. To prevent judgment day from coming to pass, Ashera's heroes spread legends of the 'dark god' contained within the Fire Emblem to discourage warfare. The mystical seal on Lehran's Medallion was what kept Yune imprisoned and what kept Ashera asleep. As the violence escalated, the seal on the Fire Emblem progressively weakened, threatening to release Yune and awaken Ashera. The seal becomes unstable, and the awakening of Ashera is imminent. Micaiah sings the Galdr of Release, releasing Yune from the Fire Emblem and awakening Ashera. When she awakens, Ashera is disappointed to see that the laguz and beorc broke their promise. Determining that her children were beyond redemption and had more than shattered their covenant, Ashera casts down her judgement, turning nearly all beorc and laguz to stone. Ashera soon discovers that her other half, Yune, had shielded a small faction of warriors from her judgement. To defeat Yune and make her will absolute, Ashera restores life to the loyal members of the Begnion military to fight for her named as Disciples of Order, even going so far as to restore the senators of Begnion, despite their transgressions. With Yune's help, Ike, Micaiah, and their companions are able to power through Ashera's forces and make their way to Ashera's dwelling. At the top of the Tower of Guidance, a divinely empowered Ike strikes down Ashera with the divine sword Ragnell. After Ashera is defeated, Yune is able to reunite with her other half, and the Goddess Ashunera is reborn."
I honestly couldn't think of just one capable actress who could do well as Ashera--which is why there's three to choose from! (Submit your opinion in the comments.) Each of these three is more than capable--Atwell and Gugino could nail the cold and controlling nature of the character, while Headey could bring some of her Game of Thrones experience to her portrayal. (Another nod to the GoT influence on my fancasts.) Whoever you all prefer, make it known in the comments.
Next time: Wrap-up and final thoughts. Stay tuned!
