Gotham Central: T.V. Fancast

A gritty Crime Drama starring Gordon and crew...

I was going to post this a few days ago but, alas, Deadshot post his vision of the G.C.P.D. To be honest, I was very impressed with his cast; take a look at it if you haven’t already. I almost used his Harvey Bullock. Well, my idea is somewhat different than his, see; I don’t want any build up to my all-time absolute favorite hero, the Batman. I want this to be a separate entity with Batman ONLY being mentioned and on (rare) occasion(s) a crook is captured by Bats before the cops arrive. Bruce will be spoken of EVEN LESS.

In 2003, due to the failure of Birds of Prey T.V. show, the proposed G.C.P.D. series was scrapped. I do believe that this show could be very successful if it were treated like NYPD, L&O, and the like but would most likely be a program on WB. To that extent, Supernatural is the only WB I enjoy.

I have opted NOT to use movie stars as this is T.V. and it’s not normal for an entire cast to be movie stars. Possibly guest-starring villains could be movie stars. Although keeping with the trend of the decade there’s always one big screen star to be cast. I felt, like Smallville using Glover my one movie star wouldn’t be a mega star but recognized by some/most. Oh well here’s my cast. Thanks wiki for the info

If William Hurt didn’t perfect General Ross I would’ve used him. I considered Corbin Bernsen of Psych but went with another instead. Admittedly, he looks the least like his counterpart but he embodies the character to me. I wanted my Gordon to look as little like Gary Oldman as possible and therefore did not use Bryan Cranston, as I (and Deadshot) have in the past.

David Morse
Dancer in the Dark, The Negotiator, The Green Mile, Disturbia, The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Rock, Twelve Monkeys, and 16 Blocks
In 2006, Morse had a recurring role as Detective Michael Tritter on the medical drama House for which he received an Emmy Award nomination. Morse portrayed George Washington in the 2008 HBO Miniseries John Adams, which garnered him a second Emmy nomination.

As
Commisioner Gordon In the 1988 graphic novel The Killing Joke, the Joker kidnaps Gordon after shooting and paralyzing Barbara. He then cages Gordon in the freak show of an abandoned amusement park and forces him to look at enlarged photos of his wounded daughter in an effort to drive him insane, thus proving to Batman that even seemingly normal people can lose their minds after having "one bad day". Batman eventually apprehends the Joker and rescues Gordon. Despite the intense trauma he has endured, Gordon's sanity and ethical code is intact; he insists that Batman apprehend the Joker without harming him in order to "show him that our way works."

John Carrol Lycnh Lynch recently appeared in Zodiac which, along with Gothika, contrasts the often likable characters Lynch has played in past films and TV shows. He was also in FOX's recent police drama series K-Ville as New Orleans Police Captain James Embry. Lynch will appear in the upcoming medical drama television series Body of Proof, which will air on ABC in March 2011.
As
Harvey Bullock
Bullock is perhaps the most controversial police officer in the Gotham City Police Department. His colleagues in the Major Crimes Unit will swear up and down that he is a good cop, despite his reputation for taking bribes, police brutality, and ties to organized crime. However, he also has a hidden sentimental streak. Bullock plays the part of (or is) the "bad cop," intimidating and threatening whoever gets in his way.
DDD, thanks for the pic and pick

Lance Gross (House of Payne)
I never seen the Meet the Browns movie but I have seen his outstanding portayal of Calvin Payne in the aformentioned series. I went a little younger for this character (he’s 29) for diversity and for the fact that Montoya and Mac are younger as well

As
Crispus Allen Partnered with detective Renee Montoya, Allen has a loving wife and two teenaged sons, whom he put above his job and the safety of others when Gotham was in crisis. Eventually, in this series.

Jason O’Mara starred in the American television network dramas In Justice, Life on Mars, and Band of Brothers

As
Marcus Driver A clean by-the book cop whos first partner died at the hands of a “freak”

Sarah Wynter
Known for her roles on American television – such as Kate Warner on the television drama 24 and as Beth on Windfall.

As
Maggie Sawyer
Maggie was introduced in Superman as Captain Sawyer of the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit. Her no-nonsense attitude made her an enemy of many criminals in Metropolis. Later stories revealed that she originally came from Star City. In mid-2000s comics, Maggie has been transferred to Gotham City's police force as the head of the Major Crimes Unit.

Michelle Rodrigez (the fan-favorite)
As
Renee Montoya The character has developed significantly over the years. Renee Montoya is initially characterized as a police detective from the Gotham City Police Department, assigned to the Major Crimes Unit. Over the course of her comic book history, Renee is outed as a lesbian. Her resignation and transition into superheroics (as Allen) does not occur. Montoya, who was blind with fury and had been slowly falling into a deep depression over the past few months, had finally snapped with the loss of Allen. She stormed into Corrigan's apartment and after knocking out his girlfriend, threatened to kill Corrigan. The previously smug CSI officer broke down and tearfully began pleading for Montoya to spare his life. Despite her thirst for vengeance, Montoya let him go.
SecretAsianBoy, thanks for the pic

Dana Davis (Heroes)

As
Josie Mac Partnered with Marcus Driver. (the only one who has an ability) Posesses the psychic ability to find lost people and objects (shhhh, it’s a secret)

Mark Valley Probably best known for his role as Brad Chase on the TV drama Boston Legal. He is currently the star of Fox's action drama Human Target.

As
Jim Corrigan He routinely abuses his position by selling crime scene memorabilia. Although the Internal Affairs division was aware of his activities, they could not interfere due to an explosive encounter between Corrigan and Renee Montoya, of the Major Crimes Unit, when Crispus Allen had been accused of murder. Allen, who loathed the fact that Corrigan had gotten off due to Montoya's desire to protect him, had begun investigating Corrigan. Just as his investigation began to bear fruit however, Corrigan shot and killed Detective Allen. This would be a slow build over a few seasons.

Amy Yasbeck (Wings)

As
Sarah Essen
A cop. Gordon had long since divorced his wife Barbara, and the two begin a serious and open relationship, eventually resulting in Gordon proposing to her. She dies in the 1st season at the hands of a “freak”

Michael Vartan
He is probably best known for the role of Michael Vaughn on the American television action drama Alias. He is currently appearing the TNT medical drama HawthoRNe.

As
Stan Kitch
Formerly a good cop and Lieutenant in the Gotham City Police Department, Has changed career and now works as a lawyer.

David James Elliot (JAG)

As
Charlie Fields Dies in the 1st season at the hand of a “freak”

Also several guest appearances by

Holt McCallany (I would’ve also used Jhn Jones but I wouldn’t want to directly connect to Smallville and would not want anyone to anticipate Martain Manhunter) He was recently cast in the lead role on a new television series on FX, Lights Out. He will play Patrick “Lights” Leary, a former world champion boxer who is diagnosed with pugilistic dementia and struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. McCallany also appeared in the 2010 Warner Bros. film, The Losers.

As
Slam Bradley
He is a private detective who exists in the DC Universe. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (who also created Superman), the character is a hard bitten, tough private eye who loves beautiful dames, stiff drinks and the odd fistfight now and then. Slam was one of the first stars of Detective Comics, debuting in #1 (March, 1937) a year before Superman first appeared and two years before Batman would make the title his home. When he shows up from time to time he and Bullock hit it off great or they are bitter rivals for being so alike . I don’t know nor care this ain’t happening after all, right?

Excellent work, ager. I wanted to do this forever but the only choices I could make were for Bullock, Montoya and Allen.

I'd certainly watch this show.

SolidSnake007
SolidSnake007 - 11/22/2010, 8:46 PM
He's a pretty good actor and I respect your choosing of him. It was original and I respect that. Most people would have just picked Gary Oldman again. Although Oldman is my favorite actor of all time I like it when people are original. Whenever I choose Gordan for my cast lists the actor I usually pick is William H. Macy. Of cousre I really like William Hurt for the role too. But that's the point of these fan casts right? To just have fun with it?

Solid, ya know i must have come across yours, or someone like-minded because that pick stayed with me for a while. but i think hes a bit similar in the face to Oldman. but thats funny i remember seeing that and saying "man if Oldman turned it down Macey is the NEXT BEST THING"
