Recently, I've been seeing rumors around the internet that Daniel Craig's fourth James Bond film will also be his final Bond film. I don't know if that's true or not (because it's only rumors). One night, while I was watching Goldfinger, I started coming up with an idea for what could be Craig's last Bond film. There's a very strong possibility (and by very strong, I mean 99.9999999%) that my Bond film will never get made. Still, I thought I'd write it out and share my ideas with you guys.
Title: The Finest Hour-- This is only a working title I came up with. I conceived it before I came up with the plot or anything else. Now, in hindsight, I don't like the title so much. But until I can come up with a new one, The Finest Hour is the working title.
Plot: Before we being, I would like to point out my own shortcomings. I'm not good at writing out plots. I just want you all to know that. I try to provide the most basic summary I can. So I don't include side plots (if any), and sometimes I might leave out a pivotal plot point. But you guys tell me how I did in the comment section.
Now let's get started.
The Finest Hour
As with any Bond film, the opening scene is unrelated to the plot. It really is just there to show off his bad-assness.
The film opens at night in a jungle in South America. In the dark jungle, a nearby encampment provides the only source of light. The outpost is patrolled by heavily armed guards. A figure dressed all in black sneaks into the encampment. After narrowly avoiding being caught, the figure ducks behind a tent where he takes off his mask, revealing that its James Bond. Bond continues to move stealthily through the base, taking down a guard or two as he moves. He notices two guards dragging a man in a suit, with a burlap sack over his head, into a tent.
In the tent, the bag is taken off the man's head, and it's revealed to be a beaten, battered Q. The man in charge reveals to Q that he's been abducted so that he can access MI6 for them. They are interrupted by Bond who beats them all down and then frees Q. He picks up one of the downed guards rifles and shoots everything as he escorts Q out of the encampent. Then the credits start.
After the credits, the scene cuts to M's office where Gareth Mallroy, the new M, congratulates Bond on Q's rescue. The celebration is short lived, however, as M has another assignment for Bond. He shows Bond a video he had just recieved. The video is a montage of various power plants being attacked, bombed, and burned. Amidst these clips are scenes of a group of people. They call themselves "The Sons of the Earth," and their leader, a man known only as Agent Green, says they will fight to "restore the earth to its natural form." At the video's end, M says that MI6 would normally not deal with ecoterrorists, but this group is organized and dangerous enough to have attacked several high profile targets.
M further explains Carlotta Argent, the head of Argent Energy-- a company that bulds power plants and supplies energy all over the world-- has recieved numerous death threats from these ecoterrorists. 007 is to go undercover on Argent's securit detail, protect her from The Sons of the Earth and eliminate its leader, Agent Green. Q outfits Bond with a computerized wristwatch that is able to access the internet from anywhere, serves as a means of communication, and a scanner.
The scene shifts to Bond at the headquarters of Argent Energy where he meets Carlotta Argent and introduces himself as her newly hired bodyguard. Carlotta gives him a tour of her facility and explains Argent Energy's beginnings by her grandfather. The tour goes into a laboratory where Argent has hired a team of elite scientists to develop a way to produce cheaper, alternative energy that can be mass produced for the public. The project is headed by a woman named Dr. Bijou Babineaux.
Carlotta's tour is interrupted when her assistant runs in and hands her a package. Inside is a DVD. Visibly disturbed, Argent takes Bond to her office where she plays the disc. It's another death threat from Agent Green and the Sons of the Earth. Bond reassures her that he's there to protect her. That scene cuts to nighttime at Carlotta's mansion. Bond and Argent are having sex when an alarm goes off. An intruder is on the premesis. 007 quickly dresses and heads outside. He attacks someone who is later revealed to be Dr. Babineaux.
Bijou explains that she's a former intelligence officer who was hired to go undercover at Argent Energy. Like Bond, she's been dispatched to take down Agent Green and the Sons of the Earth. Babineaux went undercover as a scientist for Argent Energy, knowing that the corporation would eventually be targeted by the ecoterrorists. They're interrupted by the mansion exploding. They run to the burning building where they find the ecoterrorists watchign the blaze.
Here, Bond meets Agent Green for the first time. Green boasts that he eliminated a power mad tycoon bent on the earth's destruction. Bond and Bijou fight the ecoterrorists. They take down many of the Sons of the Earth, but a helicopter arrives and assists Agent Green in escaping. Bond notices a strange residue left behind by Agent Green's boots. Bond scans the resiude as he contacts HQ. M and Q inform Bond that "Agent Green" is actually a man who calls himself Jim Bones. A former soldier who was dishonorably discharged from the US military. After being discharged, he went off the grid and became a hired mercenary whose loyalties were to the highest bidder.
The scan completes and Bond sees that it's soil. But the mineral composites suggest that it's soil from a jungle in Malaysia. The scene cuts to Bond on a plane bound for Malaysia. On board, Q gives Bond satelite photos showing a fortified settlement in the jungle. Bijou and Bond parachute out of the plane and into the jungle. Before they reach the encampent, they are ambushed by Bones, who knocks Bond out.
When Bond wakes up, he's tied up in a chair with Bijou tied behind him. Jim Bones takes great joy in beating the crap out of a Bond but a feminine voice stops him. Carlotta walks into the tent, having survived the explosion of her mansion. It's further revealed that she's the mastermind behind the Sons of the Earth and their attacks on power plants and energy companies. Using her resources, Carlotta hired mercenaries to pose as an ecoterrorist group and eliminate the assets of other energy companies-- and eventually the companies themselves. This would give her and Argent Energy control of the energy market. When she learned MI6 was going to be sending a bodyguard, she staged the explosion at her house to look like an attack on her as well.
Carlotta reveals the next stage in her plan. At the headquarters of Argent Energy, she's meeting the heads of several other energy companies to discuss a possible merger in companies. There, the mercenaries will assassinate everyone but her. Carlotta, Bones, and several other mercenaries leave, leaving Bond and Bijou behind to be killed.
Bond and Bijou break out and escape the camp in a spectacular fight scene. They steal a helicopter from the mercs and head back to stop Carlotta. Back at Argent Energy, Carlotta is leading the other CEOs into her office. In her office, she and the others are attacked by Jim Bones and the other mercs. As they're about to be executed, Bond crashes through the window as Bijou flies the helicopter. Argent runs out, leaving Bond to confront the remaining mercenaries.
Bond fights Jim Bones again. It is a particularly brutal and vicious fight as the men beat the crap out of each other. Bones gains the upper hand and starts strangling Bond. However, 007 picks up a shard of glass, from when he crashed through the window, and stabs it into the mercenary's side. He manages to get the larger man off of him. He then grabs the chair from behind Carlotta's desk; he pushes it at Bones who falls in it. Bond finishes the fight by pushing the chair out of the window, with Bones in it. Bond gets the CEOs out of the office.
Carlotta flees to the roof, pursued by Bond; a helicopter flies up and drops a rope ladder which she climbs on. As the helicopter flies away, Bijou flies up and tosses Bond a rocket launcher (which they earlier found on the copter-- left behind by one of the mercenaries). Bond fires the rocket which hits Carlotta's chopper and explodes. In the force of the explosion, she drops the later and falls, and lands on power lines, electrocuting and killing her.
The final scene takes place on an air strip. M congratulates Bond and Bijou on completing the mission. Bijou then boards a plane and Bond and M watch as it takes off.
It's a weak ending, I know.
Cast: Those of you who always read my articles, you knew this was coming. I always do a fan cast.
Returning: Actors who previously appeared in other Bond films. I don't explain why they're cast...because they're already cast.
Daniel Craig as 007/ James Bond
Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory/ M
Naomie Harris as Ms. Eve Moneypenney
Ben Whishaw as Q
New: New characters introduced in this film.
The Bond Girl: Antje Traue as Dr. Bijou Babineaux
Many of you probably best know Traue as Faora from the 2013 summer blockbuster,
Man of Steel. Well, that film happens to be why I cast her. Beautiful and talented, Traue is a good actress and would be a great a the French doctor who is really a secret agent.
The Bond Villain: Rachel Weisz as Carlotta Argent
The closest we've ever had to a female Bond villain was Famke Janssen's Xenia Onatopp from
GoldenEye. And even then, she was a henchwoman. I thought it would be interesting if the main antagonist was actually a female. Rachel Weisz, who happens to be Daniel Craig's wife, is a phenomenal actress. On a side note, I read in an interview that she would love to play the Bond villain beside her husband.
The Villain's Henchman: Kevin Durand as Jim Bones/Agent Green
Durand is one of my favorite action stars. Usually, he's cast as "the big guy." A couple of examples are Blob in
X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Little John in
Robin Hood. And it's a part he plays well. He always seems to be in the supporting cast, so I thought I'd give him the role of the henchman.
As with all my articles, I appreciate you comments and thank you for you time.
