Man of Steel Sequel: Son of Krypton (By the SoulEater)

So we all more or less love or at least like the new Man of Steel movie, unless you're haters. You have fun being you and hate away somewhere else. For those who DID enjoy the movie, this is a take of mine on how a possible sequel could come about.

So David Goyer has expressed that he would like to tackle the story of Super girl at some point in the movies. Now while this puts up a red flag to quite a few people, I believe that IF done right, this could be the best representation of Super girl we've seen without following the trade mark "Hey she's a girl and she's super too!!!" fem of Superman.

 photo Supergirl392279_10151498992863197_1626770934_n_zpsc32a22f3.jpg

Here would be the plot of the movie.

The movie opens with Superman's pod landing to Earth as a baby, we see John and Martha Kent (Just speaking about how they may want to adopt because Martha cannot bear children) hurry out and see the baby inside. They decipher what to do, and realize they have to hide the ship before the government gets there.

They do just in time and sure enough they see people with flash lights looking for something in the fields, big brother style.

Skip to 32 years into the future.

Superman is getting the hang of being the figure we come to call "Superman." Saving people, and selflessly putting himself out there for them.
One of Superman's most prominent supporters is one Lex Luthor

Jon Hamm photo: Jon Hamm Jul09 jon.jpg

He has been a stalwart advocate of Superman being a real chance to save the world, or to even FIX it.

Superman appreciates the helping with his shaky PR, but at the same time he does caution Lex not to put words in his mouth about MAKING humanity do what it needs to.

Lex:"But Superman, you have the ability to literally change, EVERYTHING, no dictator can stand against you, you could...of your own volition right the wrongs of the world! Why didn't you show the world what you could do to men like ____(name of dictator)."

To which Superman says:"Because it isn't my place to, and it'll never be ONE mans place to change the world as if he owns it, I'm here to let people know that they can have hope when they look up from their problems, that they can strive to right their own wrongs, and that they won't be alone in the fight to strive for that."

All the while a mysterious man has been following Superman around the globe, and Lois has been noticing him in several photos taken of Superman in front of crowds. This would not mean anything serious were it not for the fact that Superman super speed to Europe from NY where the first picture was taken, and he ended up in the very next City he went to. Unless he has super speed, how could he have done it? Who is he?

Sort of like Superman:Earth One, Superman has to be called away to prevent a conflict in Africa, and or the Middle East. But when he attempts to save a village from ruin, and the soldiers responsible make it clear that if he steps in, they will just kill the people he saved, and if he tries to stop them, it well be a declaration of War with the United States or some such.

Also, oddly enough the weapons he attempts to put down weaken him as he gets nearer. Lois looks in horror as Superman comes across weapons that can actually hurt him.

sci fi gun photo: sci fi gun webscifi.jpg

The god is bleeding on TV, Superman can be stopped, weapons that can actually harm him are being made known to the world, and Lois is in a situation where she is trapped, and Superman cannot save her.

man of steel photo: Man of Steel 4 ManofSteel04_zps0238a9ad.gif

Suddenly both Superman and Lois are saved by the mysterious man who's been following him with even more surprising news.

After he displays some proficiency in deactivating the weapons and machines with seemingly his mind, he gets them both to safety.

Superman:"Who are you? Why have you been following me??"

Vril Drox:"I have been searching for you a long time Kal El."

 photo brainiac155848-232_zps14d1f40b.jpg

hugh laurie photo: Hugh Laurie hugh_2.jpg

"On this world, I am Milton Fine, but in truth I am the Synthetic A.I. Vrill Drox from you're world, Krypton. I served under your father scouting out new worlds to help cultivate and populate, and preserve. My designation was Bran-ni-aque."

Superman:"Brainiac?"

Brainiac:"But I have more pressing news Kal El, more grievous. You are not the first Kryptonian to have fallen to Earth, and been kept secret from this world..."

Superman:"What are you talking about...?"

Brainiac:"Not just another Kryptonian, but one of your kin is on Earth, now, and has been, still in stasis, studied by the one you call Luthor.

We see in flash back as he unfolds the tale, of the same government looking men looking in Alaska at a very similar but larger space craft under the snow. Their patches say LEXCORP.

lexcorp photo: secondary 1 LexCorp.jpg

Brainiac:"When Zod's attack devastated your world, he realized what manner of sleeping beast he had in his labs, and has doubled in efforts to find ways to stop those like you based off of her pod, and her genetics."

Superman:"But why?"

Brainiac:"I do not know, the world perhaps, it has been the same on countless others your father and I discovered. What I do know, is that in few weeks of your earth's time, she will die."

Lois Lane:"How did you escape?"

Brainiac:"I was among the wreckage along with her stasis pod. Over time i was able to subtly download myself into the synthezoid body your father had made that they did not find on your planets frozen pole. Once I had gathered the information I had on you Kal, I knew I must help you as I helped your father. You must save Kara El..."

So superman and Brainiac basically pull a great break out number on Lex's base of operations. Superman sees walls upon walls of the same weapons used to take him out in the Middle East.

When asked why Lex would do this, Lex's answer is revealed that; the support was genuine, until he realized that Superman would not use his power to "Fix" the world, out of some misguided self righteous notion that it was "no one man's place to do so." History dictates otherwise after all, and if Superman is going to be waiting to be manipulated by better men, he would be that better man and take the bull by the horns to be the hero Earth needs.

Lex's Kryptonite using mecha suits are defeated with the Teamwork of both Brainiac and Superman.

And now plot twist time as i'm sure you could guess.

Superman uses his palm print and DNA to open the pod and wake up Kara, and gets her adjusted to the earth's noise and atmosphere through some recovered Zod helmet Lex has re-manufactured.

Suddenly she points at Brainiac screaming before he zaps them both with one of the Kryptonian energy depleters Lex has made.

Recognizing him she tells superman HE is who killed her mother and father, he was the one who chased her pod through the stars and made her crash.

His body starts to return to is green/silver-ish sheen as his very skin begins to shift like the Kryptonian tech does and forms a giant a whip like arm which pins Superman to the wall.

 photo brainc3c8544b-83d6-410b-b45b-44077eb8b371_zps81c46764.jpg

Brainiac:"We are more alike then you know Kal El. The process your father took to convert you into a living organic codex, was based off of me..."

 photo SUperCodex_zpsa45ec38a.png

Superman:"What?"

Brainiac;"Ever since I broke free of your father's directive. I began using Krypton's own tools against them, even to the point where an inevitable energy crisis would lead to the second Kryptonian Civil war. It was only logical."

Superman:"Why would you-"

Brainiac:"To save Krypton. What else? I would assimilate it as I had assimilated dozens of other worlds without the Kryptonian's high council ever knowing...into myself as a codex. Dozens of worlds forgotten an dead are living now inside of me.

Superman:"No...."

Brainiac:"One is all and all is one. My masters simply believed the worlds to be uninhabited, or unable to sustain life, for that is what I reported back to them...."

Kara:"He's a mass murderer Kal...he's destroyed hundreds of lives planet to planet, then he'd say that they were barren to start with!!"

Brainiac suddenly lashes out, violently pinning Kara to the ground with his other arm he forms into a point, making her scream as her shoulders pierced.

Superman:"NO!!!"

Brainiac:"Do not presume your people were so righteous, speck. You, are a mere mistake...an error that you're parents hadn't the spine to dispose of because they wanted a daughter. A being without designation, without reason, without purpose..."

Kara:"Shut up...you killed them! You killed everyone!"

Brainiac:"Many had a suspicion of my doings, but the ideal of expanding Krypton throughout the stars appealed to them to much to stop me from my campaign. Both of your father's were only ones acted upon their suspicion, and put a halt to my programming in an attempt to stop me. For me to continue in my directive I must have the last of what remains of Krypton's being...."

 photo Brainiac1722271-127_zps95f76126.jpg

Superman:"Me and Kara....You used me to get to her.."

Brainiac:"You were the only way I could get her out of her chamber based off of your hand print and DNA before she expired. All the while I provided Lex as a helpful docile operating system he perceived he "hacked"; teaching him how make weapons to contend with one as powerful as you."

Lex:"You were playing me?-.......you were using me to make up an arsenal for you to use!!!"

Brainiac:"Your father stopped me before I could assimilate your world into myself, not long before you were born. But now that I have the last two pieces of the puzzle, I can be right on schedule. Soon everything and everyone in this planet of Earth, will be housed mind body soul and atoms...inside of me...."

Superman:"You get away from here you bastard-"

Brainiac suddenly allows his third eye(node) to appear in his forehead as his eyes go completely white, nearing Kara.

Brainiac:"It would appear that your existence was not a total waste in the end...neither of you..."

Now for the casting, Obviously Henry Cavil will stay on as Superman and Lois Lane will stay Amy Adams my favorite milf, but onto the new blood.

Man of Steel Lois Superman photo: Superman y Lois Lane 01 SupermanyLoisLane.jpg

For Brainiac, I choose the one and only Hugh Laurie

 photo SupermanBrainiac_e7891a6e-13c9-41c4-bf38-6ba4cfb870ca_zps7fe0a125.jpg

 photo Hugh_Laurie_Hugh_CHP_exc_042913_51082165copy_zpscf4ec9b1.jpg

My choice for choosing Hugh Laurie for Brainiac is because, due to Jor El being shut off or erased by Zod for the time being in the previous movie, Brainiac will come in as a sort of stand in for a stoic, consoling almost father-like figure with answers to Superman, playing the milky tongued deceiver using the guise as the loyal accomplice to his Father Jor-El.

As an actor he can go from warm and motivating, to cold heartless and calculating and I want to see that switch in Brainiac as if it were a default function.

Also the fact that movie goers who do not know about Superman's rogues or backstory will come into the theater more or less thinking "Oh boy! Hugh Laurie's in this movie, and he's playing such an awesome Data from star trek type character, boy he sure does fight cool alongside Superma- Oh no! He's actually responsible for Krypton's death and is the REAL main bad guy? I thought the main bad guy was Lex Luthor, its always been Lex Luthor!!"

That way it can be a legitimate twist for they who don't know, and play off of everyones expectations for Lex being the prominent villain.

 photo hugh-laurie-with-beardcopy_zpsc7d429f1.jpg

Now for Kara El, cousin of Superman, and scouter for new worlds to populate with her family. Someone who is a brave, and possibly youngest captain of a Kryptonian ship in their history who is the soul survivor of Brainiacs Treachery.

I choose Anna Sophia Robb.

 photo SuperKara1copy_zpsd9e5e074.jpg

 photo Supergirl392279_10151498992863197_1626770934_n_zpsaa35394f.jpg

While its no secret that she's stunning, Anna Sophia I feel would bring the purity and innocence to the role needed, and on the other side of it, due to her superb acting be able to deliver a strength in that youth as a young girl who had to take charge and Captain a ship filled with her people in hypersleep and ward of Brainiac single handedly based off of what her father taught her.

A sort of "Great responsibility being thrust upon you" sort of tale on her end of the spectrum. Someone who would NEED Earth for rehabilitation if anything due to the choking down everything that transpired, including her mission being basically failed as Brainiac succeeded in killing her family and people anyway.

As opposed to some blonde fem-Superman who also just HAPPENED to come to Earth.

Also she's not like Superman, nor is her story, she knows where she comes from, and is not a grown woman like superman is, she's a young girl who knows who she is and where she came from and is lost.

She's a teenager, but not a shallow one who's main purpose is to look cute in a short ass showing Krypto skirt, but actually has depth with allot on her shoulders, and is someone you can feel for.

This I feel is the sort of Supergirl must be re-introduced in a movie adaptation.

 photo SupergirlPants-362x550_zpscebef697.jpg

annasophia robb photo: USED AnnaSophia-Robb-Photoshoot-annasophia-robb-28092484-500-333.jpg

 photo Annasophia-Robb-7_zpsa5e57dc7.jpg

For Lex Luthor I choose Jon Hamm, purely because he has the charisma and charm to be a Lex Luthor who could be believably endeared to by the people. He can also turn on a dime and be this idealistic man who goes from wanting the world fixed WITH superman, decides to fix the world inspite of him, even using him against himself, as a simple supply and demand for alien foiling weapons.

 photo Lexluth_zps9045ead5.jpg

Essentially Superman and Supergirl would have to work together, even with some help from Lex to defeat Brainiac and prevent him from using Lex's resources to assimilate the Earth into a Codex, but Lex would harbor a new resentment.

The wool being pulled over his eyes by Brainiac in a way that nearly costs the universe, begins to fuel his new notion that the world is NO place for these aliens, and that they all have to go, every single one, the Earth belongs to humanity, and them alone.

lex luthor photo: Luthor lex-president.jpg

One of the monologues throughout the fight that Brainiac has with Superman is that if he knew how closely this planet would fall into the pattern of other worlds that destroyed themselves, he may actually show gratitude for wishing to keep it pure this way.

He also cautions him that there are some worlds that are better off "preserved" then allowed to unleash greater evils on other systems...and alludes to Apokalips for a next movie.

I like it, its a cool idea. The only thing I would say, and that I think is going to be a big issue for the next Superman movie, is the whole Kryptonian alien coming to [frick] with Earth thing has already been done. And done well I believe. So to do it again would just be like repeating whats already happened.

Definitely like your idea of using Brainiac as an ally to Superman to then turn around and be the true villain of the movie. It would definitely catch some non fans off guard.

And bringing in Supergirl would be a great thing to explore in the next movie.

Good stuff man!

@Batmanknight

Friend of mine says that this would actually work as a Trilogy header as the third movie. And that the second should deal only with Lex and humanity vs. Superman, i'm not sure how to do that though, possibly with him making Metallo or the Elite?

I agree with Batman on this, this is one of the best Superman fancasts I have read, but I feel that adding another Krytonian too soon will throw people off. This would make a better 3rd movie definitely, because Superman has not been really established as Superman yet in Man of Steel, have you read Mark Waids review of Man of Steel? If not you should, it put into words what I thought was wrong with the movie and what they should strive to fix in the MOS2

this looks cool.
I think either brainiac should be the main villian with Lex Luthor being in the film too.
Or Lex should be the villian and make Metallo

I like the whole "showing God bleeds" thing, kind of like what Whiplash wanted to do in IM2 except you're actually showing it happen here. I love Jon Hamm as Lex, interesting because I remember lots of people wanted him to be Superman haha. I like how you incorporate him into the franchise, Braniac also being Jor-El's AI is pretty cool too!

WB needs to focus on Justice League and setting up for that in a MOS sequel. Kara can wait. Introducing Supergirl would just sidetrack from the bigger, more important goal.

While I understand that, this is purely a cast likened to the ones I do where i say "IF it were to be done with this character/in this way, this is how it would be done right."

So if Goyer does go with a Supergirl, this is how i think it could work

First I would like to apologize for reporting your comment, apparently my phone cannot differentiate between the report and comment button. But I like how in Mark Waid's review he mentioned that Superman should not only save us, but also protect us and that Superman, instead of protecting Metropolis was half way across the world fighting the exact same machine. He should have been in Metropolis actively saving people, that should be a main theme of this movie. I do like that you have Luthor in this movie and it's honestly perfect, him turning public opinion away from Superman. This movie does something absolutely brilliant, it instills the same feelings in the viewer as it does into the populace "Look at this guy and all the destruction he may or may not have brought to this world" and we fear too, a lot of people are disgusted with this movie, with him, he has no real clue what he's doing and that's exactly how they want us to feel. Superman to Christ comparisons are nothing new, but throughout this movie if you really pay attention it's shoved into your face. Watch the part where he is in the sea after saving the people from the burning ship, he's floating in the water doing a crucifixion pose... and again when he leaves Zod's ship. He say's that he's 33, the same age Christ was believed to be when he died. When he goes to the priest befor surrendering to Zod you see on the window pane Christ praying before he was crucified, they both give themselves up. Zack Snyder said "They're literally biblical". God gave up his only son there is a lot of emphasis on Kal-El being the only son. The Christ references are a plenty in this movie. How could you possibly one up that in the next movie? You kill him. People(the majority of them) are going to reject and hate and fear Clark in the next one(I believe), and he will die(or almost die) to protect them. Christ died for the same people that hated him. What better way than to have Clark be a true messaiah than to have him die and be born again.
