Don't get me wrong, I love the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, I got to thinking the other day, what if Marvel never had to give up their movie rights to stay alive. What would the Marvel Cinematic Universe look like. No reboots, all of them making their film debut? Well, this is how I envisioned Phase One for the MCU if no Marvel movie had been made up to this point, in order.
Fantastic Four
What better way to start off a Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time than with Marvel's first family. Classic origin story, classic versions of the characters but less corny and cheesy. Doctor Doom as the villain. What more could you want? Personally, I would do The Thing, how Gollum, King Kong and Ceaser were done. Personally, I liked the humor in the first two movies but, they were more superhero blockbuster instead of science fiction, superhero epic. That's exactly how Marvel would've done it while keeping the superhero, fun, blockbuster part of it. That's how I can picture the Fantastic Four being.
Spider-Man
Obviously, all the debut movies are going to be origin movies. As always, classic version of the character. Not corny, not cheesy. Fun, action blockbuster Spider-Man with the drama you would imagine Peter Parker having. Villain would be Doctor Octopus. Arguably, Spider-Man's toughest foe. Anything Spider-Man can do, Doc Ock can counter act. Fast paced action, Spidey's quick wit. Build his relationship with other characters like Uncle Ben and Aunt May. You've got pretty much a great debut for Spider-Man.
Iron Man
Iron Man would be not a brooding, dark movie but it would be more serious debut than Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. I would stick to Iron Man being the bodyguard of Tony Stark, it's different and I find it more interesting than Tony just coming out and saying "I am Iron Man". The villain, Whiplash. Think of Bruce Wayne but makes weapons and uses a suit of armor, more of a womanizer. The typical Tony Stark more-less that you read in the comics. That's what you'd see in the movie. Not the quick witted Tony from the live action movies.
X-Men
It's the early days of the X-Men. Development on the relationship between Xavier and Magneto and Scott and Jean. Other characters would be: Beast, Iceman, Storm, Colossus, Mystique, Multiple Man, Sabretooth, Mastermind, and Toad. The film would spend time developing all characters, their relationships, prejudice and their war with one another. As you can see, no Wolverine. I don't plan on introducing him until Phase Two.
The Hulk
Again, very science fiction. But, this one would also be superhero blockbuster meets Jekyll and Hyde meets The Wolfman. Horror, action and science fiction would be how I would approach The Hulk. It would be about half way through the movie, maybe slightly more when we see Bruce start going on the run from the U.S government. The villain: Abomination. I was going through the rogues gallery and I wanted to see if there was someone other than Absorbing Man, Abomination and The Leader that would be a good fit in Hulk's debut movie. Couldn't find any so, Abomination is it. As far as the fight scenes go, I'd go for very raw, intense, visceral fights.
Captain America
No tesseract. Just basic Captain America story, we develop Steve Rogers as a character, Captain America comes second to him. We build his relationship with Peggy as they and the U.S military go after Baron Zemo and attempt to stop him before his master plan goes into full effect. After that, you know the rest. Cap beats the villain and gets frozen, gets awakened 70-80 years later. Pretty basic, I know it sounds a lot like Captain America: The First Avenger.
The Avengers
No, it's not the original line up and I apologize for that. I'm saving Ant-Man for Phase Two so The Avengers can face a different breed of villain. Doctor Doom comes in as the villain, Thor gets his own introduction in The Avengers as well as an explanation for why he's there in the first place (banishment) and that he must learn to be a true hero in order to become the god of thunder again. Doctor Doom is after unknown artifacts that lead to Nick Fury assembling Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, Spider-Man and Iron Man to take on Doctor Doom. Doom learns ancient magic to gain access to this artifact. He uses his brain, force fields, ect to take on The Avengers.
What do you guys think? I was going to have the X-Men involved in The Avengers but, that would've been too much. Be sure to look out for my Phase Two. I currently have a four phase plan that could lead to more phases.
