SO I tried this once already, and wound up with pretty negative responses. But I kind of figured that no one would like the first cast, so it wasn't a big deal. This second attempt is aimed more towards the adult side of the fanbase. So hope you guys like it.
With Egon, this time around, I chose...
Patrick Wilson
I think that Patrick Wilson can pull this role off with ease. As seen in Watchmen, he definitely has the "smart guy" look going for him, and a bit of "geeky" as well. I think that with a more modern Ghostbusters film, this guy can bring Egon back to the big screen.
For Ray, I chose...
Simon Pegg
This guy is something of a comedic genious, as seen in Paul and Shaun of the Dead, and he can play a technical genious, as seen in Star Wars. I also think he handled himself quite well in Ghost Protocol. Simon Pegg can definitely take over the role of Ray Stantz and do justice to the character.
Winston was pretty easy to cast...
Idris Elba
This one was a no-brainer. For obvious reasons, Elba can easily pull off the role of Winston Zeddemore. Pretty much everyone on CBM appreciates the talent that this guy has and would most likely welcome him into the role.
Now... For Peter Venkman, this one should have been obvious...
Bradley Cooper
I don't know why this one was so hard to cast. Bradley Cooper could easily take over the role of Venkman. The guy can do comedy, action, drama, and would pretty much own this character.
I'm liking this version of my Ghostbusters casting, already.
Now for Dana Berret...
Jessica Biel
Yea! Jessica Biel would do great in this role. She's no weak actress and can do great justice to the role once taken by Sigournie Weaver. Biel and Cooper work well together, and I think that that would work out even more for a Ghostbusters reboot.
With Janine, I kept my original pick...
Ellen Page
Why did I keep her??? Because I don't see Janine as having to be a woman in her 30's, being a secretary for four men. In this case, Janine could be a college student who is in love with the supernatural, and is working for the Ghostbusters in an internship. SHe's funny, sarcastic, and can go toe-to-toe with any of the main cast.
Also, with Lewis, I decided to keep my original pick.
Christopher Mintz-Plasse
I can't help but like this casting. Imagine him as Janine's friend from college. The friend that's head-over-heels in love with her, and pretty much follows her everywhere. I'd like to see what kind of chemistry Page and Plasse would have together, and I think that they'd work off of each other just fine.
So there you have it... This is my second attempt at a Ghostbusters fancast. If you haven't seen my first attempt, give it a look and compare the two. I personally like this cast a lot better, and maybe you guys will too.
Cheers!
