I know people have already done this but I want to explain why I enjoyed and thought that The Amazing Spider-Man is better.

As many of you know, earlier this week I finally went and saw The Amazing Spider-Man. I thought it was the best Spider-Man yet, and here I will explain why I enjoyed it more and why I feel it's better than Spider-Man. I am not a hater of the Raimi films because I grew up on them and I love them (Not so much the third.)

Fleshed out

While I feel that Spider-Man did a decent job in fleshing out the characters in the film, I feel that The Amazing Spider-Man fleshed them out more and you cared about the characters more. No it is not darker, I feel it's a bit more serious and I feel that it's because of the fleshed out characters it was more emotional.

Performances

Speaking of it being emotional, the performances in this film were more powerful. I'm not saying that the performances in the other film was bad, I just feel that it is powerful and damn good when I am convinced that they are their characters and I get teary eye.

Visual effects

Yes, I know that this is 10 years later. But, the effects for Spider-Man were damn good but the effects for this film were better despite a scene or two.

Closer to the comics

Don't get me wrong, the original film is close to the comics. BUT, I feel that this film is closer to the comics. Here's why.

Nerdy Peter

This Peter Parker is shown as a more science nerd. He uses science to build his own lock for his bedroom door and he also builds these.

Webshooters

Any of you who has read a Spider-Man comic should know that Peter builds these nifty gadget known as webshooters. The film shows him build these and obviously uses them. While the original film, he has organic webbing.

Gwen Stacy

The film introduces Gwen first instead of Mary Jane, the film shows and uses her as Peter's first love. She isn't just a damsel in distress, she actually makes use of herself and tries to fight of The Lizard at one point.

Humor

"Someone's been a bad lizard" Okay, that line was a bit bad but that is something that was hinted at in the other films. Spidey's sense of humor. They didn't go over the top with it in this film, they hit that note just right. Although, I don't know about you guys but the scene with the car theif was the best use of his humor in the whole movie.

The bad guy's look

Okay, the first film can be forgiven for this because they did try using the classic costume and it didn't work. That is one thing that this film has over the original, they were able to stick closer to the original look. Sure, people complain about no snout but in reality it wouldn't have looked as cool, not to mention that they even included the lab coat.

Overall: I did very much enjoy the original Spider-Man film. It had the feel of a blockbuster, it had the good acting, good villain, it's humor and it had what a film like it needs. But, The Amazing Spider-Man was closer to the lore of the comics and between the humor, the brilliant cast, the effects and just the look of the film. I feel that this film was much more enjoyable than the original, again the Green Goblin costume is forgiven.

Be respectful in the comments below and stay frosty.
