Ok so here is Part 2 of my Superman story arc, please read part one to catch up on the current predicament of our hero.

The lights of the warehouse switch on as Randolph Grey enters; asking Superman how was his night, after he left him listening to voicemails from Jimmy Olsen, who is after losing his arm is at a turning point in his life. Randolph takes his seat from the evening before, he asks Superman how does it feel to not be able to help someone who cares about.

Randolph pulls out several newspapers, from all over the globe; he reads the headlines from a few examples. Each headline talks of disasters, murders and tragedy that Superman was nowhere to be seen. Randolph then starts reading Daily Planet headlines, ‘Lois Lane saved’ ‘Metropolis saved by Man od Steel, by Lois Lane’, then he comes across a headline from the Daily Planet, which Randolph states as ‘different’

We then cut to one week ago; Superman is on patrol, when he picks up the sounds of distress coming from the driver of the Metropolis monorail, passengers and driver scream in terror as suddenly the monorail starts picking up speed and the breaks fail to slow it down, without a seconds hesitation Supe’s swoops in, first cutting the circuit to remove power to the monorail, then slowly easing in front of it, he reduces his and the monorail’s speed until it comes to a safe stop.

Coming back to the warehouse, Randolph explains that he was the one who cut the breaks to the monorail, but had calculated how long Superman would take to arrive, thus knowing the train would never reach a speed to cause it to derail. Referring to Superman as a pawn in a chess match, he states how he had now positioned him for his first ‘check’ moment of their conflict…

Back to one week ago, a radio message starts to come through the monorail drivers communication system. We hear that a bomb has been placed on MetropAir flight 713, heading into Metropolis; furthermore, Clark’s coworker Heather Kelly is onboard. We see panels showing that the voice on the other line is that of Randolph’s, but is coming from a pre – recorded message, with no one else around.

Superman flies, up and finds the plane as quick as he can, flying beside the plane he scans frantically with his x – ray vision for any sort of device, but nothing. Suddenly interference starts coming through the pilot’s headsets, and we hear Randolph, Superman’s ears tune into the message, coming again from a pre – recorded source.

“I am sorry Superman, you see like you I can make mistakes, as like you despite my obvious superior abilities I am still just a man, earlier I said flight 713, I actually meant 731…my mistake, please accept my apologises”

We cut to see Heather onboard her flight calmly reading a paper, while other passengers look calm, and relaxed. The announcement that they will be landing soon comes over the PA system. Suddenly the plane explodes in a ball of fire, we cut to Superman as we see his reaction as the noises and sounds of all those innocent people including Heather are suddenly made silent in one awful moment. Onlookers watch as debris lands in the sea on the east coast of Metropolis, many questioning where the Man of Steel was.

Then we cut back to the warehouse, where Randolph throws down the paper, and we see the Daily Planet’s headline: “147 Dead, including our own Heather Kelly in unprovoked attack” Superman looks down at the paper, Randolph leans down and whispers into Superman’s ear. He condemns Supe’s for being selfish with his powers, helping Metropolis become a shining beacon, while other cities and people suffer.

Randolph states that he will be letting Superman go, but only if he makes a choice, to save Lois Lane or save the life of an innocent mother of three in central Africa.

We end as Randolph tells Superman that at 11:00am a lead case will cover the Kryptonite and the back wall will allow full sunlight to enter, restoring him to full strength, however this will not leave him enough time to save both, however failure to choose will see them both of them die.

Thank you for reading, any feedback welcome, even if don’t like it, but all I ask please provide constructive feedback.
