The Dark Knight Rises Poster that Could Have Been and Should have been (Well some of us think so anyway)

The Dark Knight Rises Poster that Could Have Been and Should have been (Well some of us think so anyway)

A lot of us aren't happy with the way (it appears) that TDKR is shaping up. Here is a fan made poster of what I was hoping to see in the film.

THIS IS NOT A NOLAN BASHING ARTICLE!

I just want to start by saying:

I thought the idea of an overly lengthy origin story that would leave us with half of a Batman film with no Batman would be a failure... Nolan proved me wrong.

I thought all hope was lost when I heard that Heath Ledger would be playing the Joker... Nolan proved me wrong.

Now I am left pondering whether or not this chick:

...could ever pull off a role as a decent Catwoman (especially from what we've seen of her costume).

and whether or not BANE (my favorite all time Batman villain) can truly be as awesome as he should be without Venom, Super Strength, his costume (or anything that even resembles it), and played by an actor that is known more for his drama roles than anything else.

I AM WAITING FOR NOLAN TO PROVE ME WRONG AGAIN... PLEASE!

But in the meantime I wanted to share what I had hoped for from this film in a quick throw together Fan Poster I made.

ENJOY!

Till next time, Woodinator

I don't like the poster, but I agree with you on Bane......except for Tom playing him. I have no doubt that Tom is a good pick to play him ((even though he's not Latino)), but the costume and muscles are just TOO far off. It's really sad that "Batman and Robin" had a better looking Bane.

@JJ - Thanks man. I aprecite constructive critisism. It beats the crap out of the "[frick] No" and "This Sucks" comments that I've been getting from the braintrust here on CBM.com

The poster's okay, though I'm not big on The Rock playing Bane.
I'm sure Hardy and Hathaway will be good in their roles (Hathaway was actually my choice for Catwoman before she was cast). Just watch the trailer for Warrior and you can see how awesome Hardy's fighting skills are. Will they be as good as Heath Ledger's Joker? It'd be hard to believe, but not impossible.
As for Bane's look, I'd prefer that he had a better mask for sure. But the mask he has now may be useful, IDK if it's a breathing mask or something he uses to ingest Venom or what, so I'll wait til I see the film before I shit on the mask.

@Woodinator: No problem. I've actually played Bane on an RP forum for a VERY brief period of time. ((Nobody would join the threads that I started)). I adore the character and think that he should have been done MUCH better. I fear that this will be just like Heath's Joker where the acting is great but nothing like the actual character.

Nice job, but no. The official poster sets the apocalyptic tone for the film. Apocalyptic Gotham? Now that's EPIC. Bane is going to be the popular costume for Halloween '12.

@jjmeylar

So you want to see an abnormally proportioned Bane in wrestling tights go up against cops with guns and Batman who just so happen to have whooped Ra's al Ghul's ass [a mother[frick]ing ninja king]??? Watch a cartoon pal, it's cool that you want what's in the comics but I prefer a Bane who's armored with military arsenal.

@Doubters [It's cool, you have a right to doubt this but remember this...]

The bad guys stole Batman's vehicles and have a powerful weapon in their possession. Batman needs Catwoman, he can't do it alone. How does this not sound epic? The scale of this is larger than most films some of you praise, not naming any in particular.

@3D - I am not against "Nolanizing" Bane for this series.
He did a great job creating a Joker that fit his style... But
Ledger was still recognizable as the Joker. The problem
with what he's doing with Bane is that his incarnation isn't
even recognizable to the source material.

Change his backstory... Fine
Change his "powers"... Fine
But if you do those things AND radically change his appearance...
All you've done is create a new character and stolen (and possibly tarnished)
the name of an existing character.

As crappy as the characterization was in Origins, if Deadpool had been wearing
his actual uniform (and not had swords coming out of his arms) people would not
have so much hatred for that incarnation of the character.

To be honest I much prefer what Nolan has done with Bane, the whole Mexican wrestler look needed changing for Nolan's world. I'm sure the entire costume will have a purpose in the film.
