The Fantastic Four Revamp... But First....

The Fantastic Four Revamp... But First....

One of my favorite comic book titles has always been the Fantastic Four ever since I was very young. I think it goes without saying that the movies were a dissapointment in many ways, although they did have certain aspects I didnt mind. I want to get some input from other fans before writing my next movie idea.

So before I start going through the motions of writing and coming up with a kick ass Fantastic Four movie plot, I want to hear from other fans as to what they would like to see or not see.

Things such as:
- Villians
- Heros and Allies
- Particular comic story arc you beleive would translate well onto film
- Cast

Leave comments here as to what you would like to see in an amazing Fantastic Four movie and lets see if we can revive Marvels favorite super family.

I must admit the first theatrical version of the first film wasnt very impressive, but MARVEL re-released it on single dvd, picked it up for $12 and realised that an extra 30+ minutes have been put in. When i watched it, all the plots came together and their were story points that came straight from the comic and were hilarious. Although i liked the second movie too, I was INSANELY short at 88mins... Commmon THAT IS NOT A MOVIE, its a TV special. But again another example of FOX cutting the shit out of a could have been good film.

Has everyone forgotten about the Fantastic Four? Maybe it was just me, but I didn't think the movies were all that bad, only 3 real mistakes to be made any sort of ruckus about. This is the Superhero team that put Marvel Comics on the map! No, it wasn't Spidey or Cap, or the Avengers or X-Men. It was the FF. They aren't called Marvel's first family for nothing.
Allow me to dive into this a moment, starting with what those 3 mistakes were. Mistake #1: Including Dr. Doom in the origin as another crew member to absorb the cosmic radiation. Mistake #2: Never showing Galactus in the 2nd movie(gimme a break, how do you kill the main antagonist without ever showing him). Mistake #3: Knocking the Surfer from his board. Comic fans know this is an impossibility. Tsk, tsk on whoever thought that was a good idea. Good news though, these things aren't completely unforgivable. And most of the cast has expressed enthusiasm about doing a 3rd, except Chris Evans for some reason. Honestly the kid from "Not Another Teen Movie" is too good to keep playin the role of the Torch, *lol*, anyway... Jessica Alba and Micheal Chiklis have even presented what they feel to be good directions for there characters, including the introduction of Franklin Richards. So whats stopping this? Certainly 1 cast member acting unsure about a return wouldn't stop it. Ahhh, the studio. Fox wants another character like the Surfer for a 3rd installment because they feel the FF can't carry a movie alone, but all that is old news. It seems after all its the lower-than-expected earning at the box office that is stifling this. While a decent profit was made, the studio didn't get a Spiderman style turnover. It still deserves a trilogy I say.
The FF are truly badass. Sue Storm is one of the most powerful people in the Marvel Universe, Human Torch is a Demigod, and Thing can hold his own against the Hulk(plus i like his attitude). Reed is not my favorite, but he is a genius of the highest caliber. So what's the problem? Not enough action I say. Explore their powers more. Less talk, more Clobberin' Time!
And how about a new villain. Don't even mention Doom anymore. There are so many more Nemesis to reveal. How about Mole Man... that was a joke. Annihilus is a fearsome and malevolent enemy. As the conquerer of the Negative Zone he could certainly present a significant threat and his invasion forces would provide plenty of opportunity to exercise some wicked use of power. But the inter-dimensional thing might get a little convoluted and hard to swallow for the less diehard fan. Molecule Man would be awesome, but he is so wickedly powerful and also a solo villain. That makes it a fight of brains, not the brawn that we want. Puppet Master would be boreville and Kang would just get silly. That is why I cast my vote for Ronan the Accuser and the Kree.
The comic story that introduces him is simple and keeps the FF on our planet. The Kree are an alien race with technology far,far beyond ours. As a matter of fact, they didn't even notice us until a deep space probe of theirs that landed on earth was destroyed by the FF. It's then that the Kree realize this backwater system has sentient life and they send Ronan, as the Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire, with a small contingent to judge our planet. In the ensuing battles the FF obviously wins, and the result of there victory consequentially puts Earth on the map to the Kree and the Skrulls, leading to our becoming involved the the Kree/Skrull War. That is for another story though. Ronan himself has significant power including super strength, speed, durability, endurance, and reflexes as well as possessing a vast knowledge of military tactics and soldiering. These things combined with the armor and weapon he carries, created with Kree Technology, make him quite formidable. Throw in some Kree escort squads for some added action, and you have a strong villain who gives the hero's alot to play with.
I don't think rebooting or just jumpstarting is necessary for this movie. Keep the original cast and give the actors that want it the most development. Sue Storm and Ben Grimm have always been my 2 favorite FF characters, give them some spotlight time. Torch had his in the 2nd one, and Reed is basically played as the main character. Th FF doesn't need another Surfer to amp them up, they just need to amp up the action is all. Thanks for reading. Make Mine Marvel!

That's actually an article I wrote... minus pictures. That's my idea for a new FF without rebooting or recasting. Whatever you come up with... please leave Victor von Doom out of it. I feel thats one of the X-Men trilogy's biggest mistakes... too much Magneto. Also, someone else just recently wrote an article about this same subject using Namor and Attuma. But he brought Doom in again.
