The Justice League is Here

With Man of Steel six months away, the race is on to cast and film the Justice League movie and the Batman reboot.

There are as many opinions as there are stars in the sky regarding who should be cast in the upcoming Justice League film and the Batman reboot. What makes my opinion any different? Well, seeing as Warner Brothers would like to cast a long term franchise (or so we hope), my picks will skew a little younger and they will be somewhat different than what most others envision. I know that some picks will infuriate many, but I feel that these actors meet the criteria to play these characters. In addition, these actors can be hired for relatively low salaries which will make it easier for them to appear in multiple films when they become bankable stars later on in their careers. Lastly, I feel they also possess acting abilities, wich in the end, is also important to portray these iconic characters believably.

First of all, the greatest of all superheroes has been cast. Henry Cavill is Superman, and unless they plan on casting a brand new actor in the Justice League film, we'll stick with Henry Cavill for now.

Now that Christopher Nolan's trilogy is complete we must recast and reboot the batman franchise. Supposedly, the plan is to cast a new Batman in the Justice League film and eventually spin him off into his own film. Now, I know that many of you ADORE Nolan's Batman trilogy, but not everyone loved it. Don't get me wrong, I respect his take on Batman and I greatly enjoyed his films, however, I missed the gadgets and the fantastic setting of gotham from previous incarnations. I feel it's possible to make a serious movie while also having some fun. Nolan's Batman, lacked fun, it was all-business all the time. So, I for one can't wait for Batman to be recast and rebooted. I have chosen three potential actors for Batman. They are Tom Welling, Matt Bomer and Kevin Zegers. I feel that out of all of these, Kevin is the most qualified being the youngest, and possibly the most talented having starred in Oscar nominated films. Tom and Matt are dashing and handsome and I feel that they could also pull off the "millionaire playboy" role quite well. For now, Kevin is the front runner.

The next member of the Justice League, Wonder Woman, I believe is the hardest to cast, she must be kind and innocent yet fierce and imposing. These qualities are hard to find all rolled into one person. I've always liked choices like Kate Beckinsale, Rhona Mitra and especially, Morena Baccarin. However, I sense that the studio is going for younger picks so I've chosen Alexandra Daddario (who is stunning and fills out the costume, if you catch my drift), Jessica Stroup and the erstwhile Dejah Thoris, a.k.a. Lynn Collins. The first two are younger and thus can be in multiple films. Lynn Collins is "older" in this group but meets the criteria. All of these actresses are tall enough to stand alongside Superman and Batman (albeit with the help of small heels or boots).

I think, for the sake of continuity, Warners should continue with Ryan Reynolds as their Green Lantern. With a good Justice League script all sins from his previous cinematic outing will be forgotten. Also, ditch the CGI suit. We don't need to have Green Lantern covered in green cosmic bacon. A regular suit like Cavill's in Man of Steel will be fine.

If the studio does decide to recast Green Lantern, then I suggest they go with John Stewart to get some flavor in the cast. Someone talented like Lance Gross could fill the role perfectly.

For the Flash, as a front-runner, I went with a fan favorite, Chris Pine, but if we're going younger, I've added Ryan Kelley as a candidate. The young man is an incredible actor and has been bulking up through the years. He has that lanky look and would fit into the costume nicely. Finally, I've thrown in another name, Josh Dallas, he is charming and could pull off the Flash's comedic side with ease. He is, however, the "oldest" of the bunch which is why I've saved him for last.

Next on the list is Cyborg. As many of you know, he's part of the lineup of the New 52 so I've gone ahead and cast him as well. My first choice is Corbin Bleu who has been in mostly Disney/kid fare, however, he has the look and is not a bad actor. With a good director behind the camera providing excellent direction, I feel Corbin can hit it out of the park. My next choice is Mehcad Brooks, he's my "older" pick but has the experience necessary to do justice to the role.

Finally, we come to the hardest male to cast, in my opinion. Aquaman is a character that, if not cast correctly, can be a caricature. We need to cast someone with enough gravitas to be taken seriously. In addition, he should be masculine, yet noble. My choices are as follows: Matt Barr, he's an intense actor whom I believe can pull off the role. Plus, he's incredibly blonde and hirsute, which makes him perfect for a strong, masculine, Aquaman. The next actor for consideration is Freddie Stroma, yes, he's young but he's well built and even though he looks like a baby in the picture I chose, can you imagine his bleach blonde hair rising from the ocean while he holds a trident? I can and I think he would be great! Mike Vogel is another talented actor that hasn't caught his big break yet, this would make it easy to hire him for future installments in the franchise. My final pick is Kevin Zegers once more. No, I'm not in love with the guy (I swear!), but he is respected in the industry and he's bulky enough to play Aquaman.

These are my choices, if you can do better, I urge you to do so. Please tell me your choices in the comments section and may the Justice League make it to the big screen faster than a speeding bullet! I for one, can't wait!
