The Superman
Prologue
The opening scene we see Krypton’s destruction with a little voice over from Jor’el.
Jor’el: ‘For years we stood as a race of beings respected and honoured above all those in the universe, a proud race who strived for both peace and superiority…. But we were betrayed’.
Now at this point we see a small ship fly out of Krypton’s orbit just before it blows up.
Jor’el: ‘But through betrayal, hope still remained’.
The ship then flies into the depths of space, starting the opening credits.
Now in the credits we see the spaceship flying through the universe, spanning galaxies with the soundtrack ‘A New King’ by Patrick Doyle in the background.
As the credits end we see the ship enter our galaxy and heading straight to Earth, as it enters our atmosphere the name ‘Superman’ lines up and the screen goes black.
Chapter 1
We now are in the present day in Smallville and from a bird’s eye view we see a single red pickup truck driving along a dusty road.
(There’s a country song in the background being played by Christian Kane, the song is called Fast Car ‘note not the Tracy Chapman version’.
As the camera zooms closer we see a young 20 something man driving the truck, its ‘Clark Kent’, now we see the song is actually being played on the radio and Clark is singing along quietly to the tune.
As the song continues to play we see Clark driving to the Kent farm and pulls up right beside a large red barn. As he gets out he looks out in the distance and see’s someone waiting for him, a big grin spreads across his face
A young red haired girl is waiting for him seen leaning on the barn door.
Clark: ‘Lana’!
Lana: ‘I’ve been waiting for you Clark, I thought I’d surprise you’.
Clark: ‘We weren’t supposed to meet till tonight right or have I messed up’.
Lana laughs.
Lana: ‘No you’re safe, I just wanted to see you earlier, maybe get some lunch’.
Clark: ‘Yeah let me just unload the truck and I’ll be with you’.
As Clark starts shifting the trucks cargo Lana takes a stroll inside the barn and once inside walks up to the second decking, the barn is a bit of a mess with farming equipment everywhere. Then suddenly she feels a chill shoot up her back and hears a strange hissing noise coming from a dark corner at the back of the barn, she looks down and see’s Clark nearly finished unloading his truck, looking back to the corner she slowly walked towards it but the closer she got the quieter the noise became, when she got close she stared at the corner and saw something move like a black cloud shifting behind a broken down tractor, she takes a few intriguing steps closer till suddenly the dark mist spawned into a humanoid figure and all can be seen through the mist is a pair of dark red eyes.
Lana froze in terror at the appearance of the creature but she couldn’t speak, she couldn’t scream, she cant even move till the figure spoke.
Dark Shadow: ‘You are not the child I seek…. But I may still have use of you human’.
Back on the floor decking of the barn Clark has just finished clearing his truck and calls out to Lana, but with no reply, he calls out to her again but nothing, as he begins climbing the stairs he hears a loud scream and in a panic he screams Lana’s name and rushes up to the second decking to find Lana lying on the floor unconscious and a little blood around her nose.
He cradles her in his arms and tried to shake her awake but to no avail. He runs outside to the farmhouse calling for his parents but soon realises there not around. Running back to the barn he takes Lana into his arms and super speeds out of the barn. (note; This is the first time we have seen Clark use his powers).
In just a few seconds Clark arrives at Smallville medical centre, still carrying Lana in his arms and rushes into the ward, the nurses quickly take Lana into the emergency room leaving Clark alone in the ward clueless as to what had happened to her.
Now the scenes switches from Smallville Medical Centre to Metropolis General Hospital, the inside is obviously bigger and more financed then the one in Smallville and walking down one of the wards we see a late 20s man walking into a patient’s room, a man with a bald head.
Lex: ‘Hello Dad’.
The patient is lying in his bed and looks towards his visitor and smiles.
Lionel: ‘Lex…. Son’.
Lex: ‘The police told me what happened I came as soon as I heard’.
Lionel: ‘I know you did son, did they mention anything about the shooter’.
Lex looks down at his father.
Lex: ‘As far as I can tell they know nothing, and as far as I’m concerned I just wanted to know you were ok’.
Lionel laughs.
Lionel: It would take more that some fool with a gun to keep your old man down, and when I’m out of here those responsible will certainly feel my vengeance’.
Lex: ‘While you’re here I need to know something’.
Lionel: ‘While I’m here, Lex I’m in a hospital after just escaping an attempt on my life…. What do you need’.
Lex: ‘Our partnership has it been filed through’.
Lionel: ‘Lex, we’ve been partners since your birth son’.
Lex: ‘No I mean at Luthorcorp, while you’re in here I can run it myself but I need to know that it’s all legal’.
Lionel: ‘Legal son is not in the Luthor dictionary, but yes it was finished last week, you and I are equal partners now, now son if you don’t mind I need my rest’.
Suddenly Lex drops his friendly approach and get serious.
Lex: ‘Good…. You know from a certain point of view one would almost call your situation unfortunate, I mean if the shooter had killed you, the entire company would be mine and my own’.
Lionel looks at his son his confusion and awe.
Lionel: ‘What are you telling me son‘.
Lex stays silent and just stares at his father.
Lionel: ‘Lex…. You didn’t’.
Lex: ‘Me, of course not father you’re too precious to me, at least you were, while I still needed you but now Luthorcorp is mine, and your uses have expired’.
Lionel’s sudden suspicions suddenly are realised.
Lionel: ‘You tried having me killed’.
Lex: ‘No, the man I hired was much more than just a fool with a gun, through all my contacts he is the best at what he does'.
Lex walks right next to his father’s bedside.
Lex: ‘They call him Deadshot, he's known for not leaving his contracts alive but we came to a ....financial understanding, so that he would do just enough to make sure you end up here, with me’.
Lionel: ‘Why spare me, why not let him go through it’.
Lex smiles.
Lex: ‘I didn’t know you had already passed Luthorcorps holding to me and more than anything’….
(Lex’s face is nearly touching Lionel’s now)
Lex: ‘I wanted the honour of killing you myself’.
With that Lex grabs his father’s oxygen tube and twists it causing his father to gasp for air, causing more pain then he was already in, blood started coming out of his mouth and he grabbed his son close to him to show mercy but as he tossed around in his bed Lex just glared at him in malice until his father’s body gave up and flat lined, he dies with his blank eyes staring back at his son.
As the machine carries on the flat line, Lex just looked down at his father’s body feeling mostly relieved but also a little in horror for the crime he had just committed, coming to his senses he rushed out of the hospital room as the doctors swarmed in, acting as if he was in shock but in truth was only to cover his joy.
As Lex walks out of the hospital and into the night air without any remorse for what he had done a dark figure once again can be seen in the distant shadows, and all that can be made from him are glowing red eyes following Lex’s movements.
Chapter 2
The next day at the Kent farm we see Clark in the fields deep in thought, with Lana at the hospital and no idea what happened to her, his thought also turned to the many things about his life he still didn’t understand, he knew both his parents weren’t his real parents, but then who was. He knew that he was a Kent and yet he had the ability to run as fast as a sports car and so strong he could lift one of his dads combine harvesters with just one hand, he liked the life he had but everything was a mystery to him. Whilst he’s thinking about all this a middle aged man in a farmer’s jacket approaches him its Jonathon Kent.
John: ‘Everything ok son, you keep thinking that hard you’ll burn your eyes out’.
Clark: ‘I’m fine dad’.
John: ‘Any news about Lana’.
Clark: ‘No nothing, they wont even tell me what’s wrong with her they say for now its to respect family secrecy but Lana only has her aunt and she’s in Gotham…. I don’t know dad, I don’t know what it is I’m supposed to do’.
Jonathon just looks towards his son smiling.
John: ‘Clark you can’t do any more than what your able, you cant blame yourself when something goes wrong that is just out of your power to change, you were their for Lana when she needed you’.
Clark interrupts ‘no dad I wasn’t’.
Jonathon embraces his son by the shoulders.
John: ‘Yes you were, you more than anyone else was able to super speed her to the hospital, god knows how long it would of taken her to get there if me, your mother or anyone else found her first’.
Clark looks at his father, carefully choosing what to say next.
Clark: ‘Dad did you find anything weird about what you just said’.
Jonathon confusingly replies ‘what do you mean’.
Clark: ‘Super speed, how can you say that as if it’s a normal thing’.
Jonathon’s face straightened ‘Clark were not talking about this’.
Jonathon backs away from Clark standing a few feet apart.
Clark: ‘It’s never the time dad but I need to know, you and mum say you found me but you won’t say where, you say that I’m special but you won’t say why, dad I need some answers’.
Jonathon was ready to dismiss his son once again but as he looked at him he realised he was now a man, too long had he and Martha kept the secret from him and now Clark deserved to know the truth.
The next scene is inside the barn and Jonathan is leading Clark to the second decking and opens an old chest and takes out a small object wrapped in cloth, as they both crouch down Jonathan looks at Clark.
John: ‘Before I say anything else, I just want you to know me and your mother love you as our own son and nothing could ever take away that love’.
Clark’s eyes doesn’t leave the object as Jonathon carefully unfolds it revealing what laid underneath.
