Scene 4
Pictures and Spider Bites
(open on Mrs. Andrews)
Mrs. Andrews- Ladies and gentlemen, remember this is a privilege to be here, not a right. Now, remember, respect our tour guides, do not talk over the guides, do not wander off, and do not touch ANYTHING! Understood? Alright, let’s go.
(They enter. The camera looks up to the large letters above the entrance. OSCORP LABRATORIES. The camera cuts to peter.)
Harry Osborn- Peter!
(peter turns around.)
Peter- Hey man. You excited for the trip?
Harry- you’re kidding right? I see this place every day.
Peter- well I am. I’ve heard they’re doing some cool cross-genetic mutation experiments on spiders to make them able to perform enhanced abilities.
Harry- yeah, cool.
Mrs. Andrews- (shouts to Peter and Harry) Gentlemen! May can we at least enter the building without losing anyone?!
(They enter without another word)
/
(cut to the guide, Gwen Stacy)
Gwen- Here is the room where we perform the experiments. The machine you see behind the glass extracts the DNA from the spiders and uses molecular currents to safely transport them in the blink of an eye to the big silver box over there. That’s where the DNA is modified to enhance their special ability.
Harry (whisper to Peter)- Whoa, I’ve never seen her around, must be new.
Peter (whisper)- This tour is now 10 times better.
(Enter Dr. Strayford)
Strayford- Sorry for being late everyone, traffic.
Gwen- Dr. Strayford. Everyone, this is doctor Strayford, he’s our head scientist of the genetics department.
Strayford- I can see Gwen has showed you all our beauty back here. Now, can anyone tell me how the DNA is able to pass safely to the machine and back into the spider without escaping the tube?
Student 1- cushioned tubing?
Strayford- no…
Student 2- airlock seals?
Strayford- no…
Peter- it cant. (Strayford looks at peter) I mean when the DNA passes through it can’t leave the tube because of the molecular currents emit a static pulse that restricts the separation of the atoms that make up the DNA. That’s how our body doesn’t lose our DNA.
Flash Thompson- no wonder no one likes him!
(the class laughs)
Strayford- silence! Very good mr. uhh…
Peter- Parker, Peter Parker.
Strayford- yes, well, moving on… (the class continues to move. Peter stays behind to take pictures. Gwen stays for a small period of time, studying peter.)
/
Strayford- this is our most important room. We call it, the prison. (he opens the door to a large room with a large glass cylinder. The cylinder is made up of glass boxes containing spiders.) in here, we have over 500 spiders, each genetically mutated in some way.
Peter- A picture for the school paper?
Strayford- of course. These spiders are contained within one way cubes of glass. They can’t see a thing.
(as peter begins taking pictures, Gwen notices an open cage. She walks over to close it, when she sees its empty. Cut to a spider slowly dangling down above peter. As he keeps taking pictures, the spider lands on peters neck and bites him. Peter swats his back. Gwen looks over at him curiously.)
Strayford- Mr. Parker! Would you care to join us?
(Peter makes his way to the door.)
