They say that clothes make the man and in a superheroes case it is so true. Not every superhero costume can look good on screen while others are perfect. Should costume designers take liberties with the costume or just copy it from page to screen. Well today I will be having a look at the absolute best.

5 Watchmen

Adapting the famed graphic novel was always going to be a hard task. Some even said that it was an impossible task. If Zack Snyder didn't properly recreate these costumes and avoid a certain cheese factor the whole movie could of been undone. Luckily he pulled it off, making the necessary changes to the costumes to avoid them looking bad. personally I think Rorscach and the Comedian's costumes were the best.

4 Hellboy

The look of Hellboy was essential for the film. If the costume wasn't right then the audience wouldn't of been able to appreciate Ron Perlman's performence and the movie would of fell flat. Lucky for use the design crew replicated the costume perfectly.

3 Iron Man

Inspired by the post extremis armour than the tales of suspense version, being a more mash up of individual parts than the mash up that was in tales of suspense,it looked slicker, more stlyish and still remained faithful to its comicbook counterpart. Considering how bad it could of been this is a well deserved spot.

2 Superman

Is there anything more recognisable than the Superman costume. The large cape. The red briefs and the blue tights. Any thing that devoids from this original concept like an absent cape or green boots is not superman and just a mere imitation, also Christopher Reeves is superman.

1 Spider-man

Everybody knows this costume. When Sam Raimi was tasked with bringing this icon to screen he did not disapoint. Spider-man looked like he had just walked straight out of the comicbooks and onto the screen and that's why he is in the number one spot.

hellboy didn't have goat legs in the film. and it is not that difficult to replicate a trench coat from comic to film.

In all fairness, Night Owl's costume in watchmen was supposed to be a parody of the Schumacher Batman costumes. It even had nipples. He was doing that because the form of media is movies, not comics. the Watchmen comic was known for parodying other comics of the time.

being that this was a movie, he parodied other CBM's of the time. kinda cool. :)

These ones are good choices, but there are a lot of others I can think of. Even though the Fantastic Four movies were pretty lame, I'd say they did a very nice job on the costumes.

@Hush2010 TDK's Joker costume was nothing like the comics, and it was just plain bad. your just a die hard nolanite, or i'm guessing. all of nolan's costumes suck. the trues costume was TV's Adam West. (WHERE?)

superman's suit was nothing special.

@gamecreatorjj RDJ wore an iron man costume so yes it is. Green lantern? are you serious? that CGI was first off a dumb idea, second it was bad CGI, thirdly it was a bad design.

@jackdexx i dont see ironman as wearing a costume, he is wearing battle armor, like how obidiah wore a mech suit not a costume, and whether the CG is bad or not, i like the overall design of costume

I understand that The Joker wanst an exact copy of the comic. That was not what I judged it on. The reason this suit works for me is because of the artistic liberties that Nolan took. The fact that his face seemed to melt the more chaos he created was an interesting decision. The scars in the shape of a smile brought a more realistic feel to the reason he would wear face paint. The suit was on point.

I enjoy Nolans movies and take on Batman even though its not comic accurate. I want them to make the Batman from comics but until that is done Nolan is the best to touch the Batman name in cinemas.

If your opinion is end all be all on everything comics. Make a better movie till then your opinion is just that.

Nothing is bad about the Nolan films so far except Rachel Dawes (Maggie or Katie).

@Hush2010
Believe you me if i had the rights to the characters i'd make the best yet, but i doubt that will happen any time soon. the cuts in place for smile just where not the joker. not even Nolan's joker. he would have been better off with out them even in Nolan's batman.

Agree to disagree. I personally think the scars, Makeup and accent made that joker unique. I cant draw the Joker without the scars anymore.
