What will become of Bane?

Batman's new enemy...what will his fate be in the end?

When I first joined CBM.com two months ago, the news for The Dark Knight Rises was little to nothing. Weak set photos here and there, nothing to really grab my interest. The only things to go off of really were the fan made posters and trailers. But in the past week, with an excellent trailer, a teasing (pun intended) poster, this movie is now at # 1 on my must see list of 2012 with the Avengers and the Hobbit in 3rd and 2nd Place. The bootleg of the trailer was bad quality I must say, but seeing the trailer hit the big screen before Harry Potter was frickin' awesome! People in my theater cheered when the title appeared and to see TDKR trailer before the Final Harry Potter movie was one of the best days I've had this summer alone.

Now I wondered why people said that was Catwoman fighting Bane in the end. First off-why wouldn't you put your main character in the teaser? It doesn't make sense. But when I saw a much better quality of the trailer, It was obvious that the person backing away was Batman. In the theater It looked like he was fighting outside near an apartment building in the rain. What really intimidated me about that particular scene is that Batman looks tired as hell; as if he's got nothing left in him and he's backing away from Bane knowing he's about to lose. After watching it countless times and reading several articles about it on here, only one thing has changed about the trailer in my opinion-the location of the final scene. Instead of outside, they look like they're dueling in a warehouse of some sort and the figure standing way in the background could either be Selina Kyle, Commissioner Gordon, Alfred, or for a moment by the site of their pants (which look green to me) robin? Meh, scratch that last part since Nolan said he would never use Robin. But whose to say? All I know is that it gives me chills every time I watch it.

Well that's my assessment of the trailer. Now Onto the real point of this article.

I've been thinking lately. Its a comicbook movie. There's always an interesting way that the villain gets defeated in the end. Nolan has proven to us that he is full of surprises. When Ra's Al Ghul's death came in Batman Begins, it was epic and memorable mainly because of Batman's quote, 'I won't kill you. But I don't have to save you.' In The Dark Knight, in my opinion, Batman should have let the Joker fall splat onto the sidewalk below instead of waste his strength trying to save his psychopathic ass. But he saved him because he 'didn't want to break his rule'. Harvey Dent fell to his death after he tried to seek out revenge against Commissioner Gordon. Scarecrow was sent into a padded cell for the rest of his miserable life, and now we have two more villains threatening both Gotham and Batman's existence...Bane and Catwoman.

Now, I do not believe Catwoman/Selina Kyle will die in TDKR. I feel she'll get away in the end. But I am expecting Bane to be 'offed'. Now I agree with several other users on this site, I want Bane to 'Break the Bat'. The scene at the end of the teaser could be in the middle or end of the movie. We don't know. But thanks to a CBM user's article (that I think was taken down because I can't find it) I learned a lot of thought provoking information from the Batman comics that could work for this movie. He went in detail to explain that Bruce hangs up the cape and the city's crime rate skyrockets. Then he decides to go back and be the Dark Knight detective to rid the streets of crime once more. That is a theory I do believe is going to happen with TDKR.

I think Batman will lose (BIG TIME) in his first encounter with Bane (which probably ends with the villain tossing our hero out of a window), and the impact has his mind set on quitting. Hanging up the cape, Bruce will feel that he had made the right choice; and his life would return to sanity. But nope; doesn't work. Bane continues his conquest to destroy Gotham, and Wayne feels its time to do the Brett Favre (come out of retirement). But really intrigues me is how Bane/Batman's duel will end:

Will Bane be impaled/stabbed?

Will he fall to his death?

Drown?

Burned alive?

Electrocuted?

Suffocated?

will Batman beat him to a pulp, tie him up and wait for the cops to arrive?

...will Catwoman step in and aid Batman?

or will their duel end with a draw (possibly killing each other in the process)?

All of these questions give me a lot to think about. However, I can't really pick which one I WANT to happen, because out of all of those, I'm sure Nolan will make them thrilling and epic as ever.

what do you think?

How do you want to see Bane meet his end?

I am wondering about this too, the trailer shows so little but says so much. Really excited for this, when I saw it at midnight before HP:DH P2 I was clapped.

My first assumption from this is that it looked like Batman is tired and Bane is not and about to come up and kick his ass. This could be the first encounter,he could be saved by Catwoman, generic part where he gets the will to fight back, etc.

If he actually wins the fight (which looks like he is losing badly) I hope it is in a unique way.

My second assumption was that it is possible that Batman could die in this film, since it is the last film in the Nolan trilogy. He could defeat Bane but die while doing it or even lose and Bane winning. Maybe Catwoman wins in the end after Batman dies. Though I believe Catwoman and Batman will team up.

Just can't wait to see this movie, knowing Nolan it will be amazing!

TDKR's PLOT:

* Batman's in exile ~ Bruce is grieving = Miranda comforts him.

* Gordon and Blake never thought it would happen, but Batman is gone, the Police have to work harder now that they are alone.

* Selina, ravaged by life on the streets is inspired by Batman to become Catwoman {female Batman copycat}. Possibly out for revenge against surviving mob bosses.

* Bane and League of Shadows sets out for revenge. Showing their power by burning places of high density population {i.e. Airplane, Football Stadium}. The Gotham "crumbles".

* The Police and Catwoman can't do it alone. Gordon gets injured, near death. Bruce visits him at the hospital in a suit and black ski mask. This brings the Batman back. The people plead for his return despite what they know he has done {kill Harvey, take the blame}. The Dark Knight Rises!

* Batman and Bane duke it out at the Police Station. Meanwhile Catwoman is assisting in evacuating and fending off the League of Shadows. Bane dies in a fire he set off.

* Gotham rebuilds in it's rubble. Ra's al Ghul accomplished his goal. The "dawn" after the "storm". Bruce, not Batman, becomes a more prominent figure in Gotham.

I want to know if Bruce recovers in this film. Because if he does, then how much time passes in this film? Batman never finishes Bane, Azrael does. So, bane in a realistic nolan fashion, probably dies do to over compensating the venom and deflates, lol. Just a hunch.

@Despero - Damn!!! Did you read the script? That sounded on point for a "Nolan-type" plot.

Imagine a Batman Vs. Bane fight on top of a skyscraper during a storm... Whilst the rest of Gotham watches.
I have a feeling that Bane will die just the way that Despero described it. Hopefully not of a venom O.D or anything...

I have a feeling batman will have "to break his one rule" when facing bane.I think he should drop the Keysi fighting method and just fight like a maniac and not hold anything back, like in the beginning of "batman begins".

I think Chris O' Donnell and Alicia Silverstone will swoop in and save batman, unplugging Bane's venom tubes causing him to shrink back to a frail man

Bane will be defeated the same way he's always beaten. Batman will find a way to cut him off from his Venom, probably by taking out the hoses that feed it to him. After that, Bane isn't much of a threat.

and there's no way Batman will die or be crippled for life. Come on now.

even if Nolan wanted to do that, i doubt WB/DC would allow it.

In Batman Begins, he began his crusade as Batman. In The Dark Knight, he began to question if what he was doing was good, or if he was causing more trouble. The Joker said that the freaks were coming out because of him.

In this one, it can almost be guaranteed that Batman will fully embrace his role as Batman and the protector of the city. I can't see it ending any other way.
