BOX OFFICE: FANTASTIC FOUR Crashes And Burns In Second Weekend With Huge 69% Drop

After a week which saw even more shocking details emerge about the behind the scenes issues which plagued Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, it should come as no surprise to learn that its second weekend at the North American box office was as disastrous as the first. The movie suffered from a whopping 69% drop with a a haul of just $8 million. That gives Fantastic Four just $41 million after a week of release. In other words, Fox have a bona fide flop on their hands! As for new release The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (which is well worth checking out, FYI), that didn't fare too well against Straight Outta Compton. It brought in only $13.5 million compared to the NWA biopic's impressive $56 million. As for Ant-Man, it currently has a worldwide total of $347.068 million. It's yet to open in China and another of other key international locations however. What did you see this weekend?

Straight Outta Compton... Damn, that shit was dope. One of my favorites of the year, a nigh perfect film and immensely powerful. Haven't seen U.N.C.L.E.. As for Fantastic Four - time to flame off.

@MrCBM56

Mannnn what!? lol Easily the best film of the summer for me. That film touched so many conflicts. Police brutality, the industry and aids as well. It's a huge wake up call to Rap artist in today's generation. I think everyone should see it when they get the chance.

@TheOracularNerd Pretty much as relevant as they actually were back then. And every piece of casting was just uncanny to the truest sense. I was not watching actors, I was watching Eazy, Dre, Cube, Yella and Ren, Suge... I might also be the only person in the world to feel sympathy for Jerry Heller haha. The "bye Felicia" reference killed me.

Straight Outta Compton was incredible. Second best film of the year for me behind Mad Max Fury Road.

Even as a hip-hop head, even though I knew the story of Eazy and Jerry and Jerry really [frick]ing with everybody, the story with Cube leaving, story with Dre and Suge; the way the film told the story was so amazing. Felt like I saw the story for the first time. Really surprised by the Snoop and Pac cameos. Will admit I was expecting an Em cameo at the end only because you saw Dre forming Aftermath and we saw Dre with Snoop and Pac, it would make sense to keep the story going but I didn't mind no Em.

Only have 2 small problem in the film. Film starts off in 86. Dre's listening to albums. One album he has was LL's Bad album. That didn't come out till 87. Also I know Eazy had AIDS but why did the doctor tell him HIV? The doc tells him he has HIV and for the rest of the film everyone says its AIDS.

Still great and groundbreaking film.

@LEVITIKUZ I'm no medical expert, but HIV and AIDS are closely related (HIV is the virus, AIDS is the disease I think?) - hence why it's commonly referred to as HIV/AIDS. I'd imagine they are interchangeable terms for the most part.

@sauronsbane

Well yea I know about HIV and AIDS how they are alike but it just felt odd how they told Eazy he has HIV and then like 2 minutes later you hear a news report saying he has AIDS.

Felt like a little editing mistake you know. Why not say AIDS to begin with?

Still not a huge issue.

@LEVITIKUZ

Straight Outta Compton rocked, awesome movie, Ice Cube's son was great too, haha, nailed it

Yeah, I agree that was kind of odd, in that scene I think the doc also said he had a URI and pneumonia, I figured it was because HIV was more prominent for celebs back then, with Arthur Ashe, and Magic Johnson. But, as far as I know, Eazy actually publicly announced he had AIDS

@SauronsBANE

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS, you can actually still live with HIV with meds and an extremely healthy lifestyle, Magic Johnson has HIV and it still hasn't progressed to AIDS that's why he's still alive
