Recent weeks have seen us inundated with Fantastic Four casting rumours. If the latest wave of claims is to be believed, Adam Driver is playing Mister Fantastic, Margot Robbie is considering taking on the role of Invisible Woman, and Paul Mescal is all but a lock for the Human Torch.
Aside from a baffling claim about Mila Kunis playing The Thing, very little has been revealed about plans for Ben Grimm in the MCU.
Well, that might have changed thanks to a rumour shared by Jeff Sneider on the latest edition of The Hot Mic podcast. Explaining that many of the names we've seen do the rounds in recent weeks have simply been plucked from casting grids, he believes there's no way Fantastic Four will feature an all-white cast.
Sharing his belief that at least one member of Marvel's First Family will be a person of color, Sneider suggests Hamilton star Daveed Diggs is a possible contender to play The Thing.
The actor is half-Jewish and a major talent who has been largely wasted in TNT's Snowpiercer. The actor will lend his voice to Sebastian in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid and would definitely be a good fit to play the MCU's Ben. This rumour doesn't sound anywhere close to being confirmed, though, so it's best not to get too excited for now.
Ben Grimm, better known as The Thing, is perhaps the most tragic member of the Fantastic Four. An ace test pilot until exposure to intense cosmic radiation mutated him into a rock-skinned monster with immense superhuman strength, his exterior is much harder than stone which gives him a rather gruff disposition. However, deep down, he has a heart of gold.
Similar to 2015's Fantastic Four reboot helmed by Josh Trank, we expect the MCU's take on this character to be brought to life through motion capture and VFX.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
