FANTASTIC FOUR: Rumored Details On Doctor Doom's MCU Future Revealed...Including When He'll Debut

A new report claims to shed some light on what Marvel Studios has planned for Doctor Doom in the MCU, and we may have intel on how Victor Von Doom will factor into the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot...

You may recall that there have been rumblings about Doctor Doom making his presence felt in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for some time now. It makes sense given Victor's history with T'Challa and his home, and all signs seemed to be pointing to Marvel Studios borrowing some ideas from the DoomWar comic book storyline.

Over the past week or so, however, the usual suspects on social media have chimed in to say Marvel Studios decided to cut Doom's planned MCU debut in one of the sequel's post-credits scenes.

It felt a lot like backtracking due to their earlier scoops (read: guesses) being proven incorrect. There's always a chance we will see Doom in the Black Panther follow-up - critics were only shown one post-credits scene after all - but a big update on his future in the Fantastic Four franchise has been shared by Jeff Sneider on the Hot Mic podcast.

He claims that, "I'm told that Doctor Doom is not the villain of Fantastic Four, that Doctor Doom will be introduced basically in like a mid-credit or post-credit scene [in Fantastic Four]."

Other reliable scoopers like Lizzie Hill have agreed with Sneider, and this does make sense.

It's possible this was always the plan and that miscommunication led to the belief the introduction would take place in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Doom was the big bad in all the previous Fantastic Four movies, so moving away from him for a while would likely be beneficial to Marvel's First Family.

Last week, we heard that Marvel Studios plans to introduce Silver Surfer in a "Special Presentation" on Disney+, with that serving as a prequel to the team's return. If all this information is correct, we have to assume Galactus is going to be the first big bad Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny face in the MCU.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters on November 11, while Fantastic Four recently shifted to February 14, 2025.

Do you know if the scoopers are only guessers, Josh? Are you sure of that?

Cause if they are I'm asking them for the lottery numbers, since the Spider-man they've been almost 100% on all leaks.

They've set the stage for fantastic 4. The world is weird now with all the things that happened to it, and all the new super powered people. We have Spider-Man and daredevil to cross paths with. Arisheim has earth in his crosshairs. Mutants are being whispered about. Kingdoms are warring (wakanda and Namors kingdom). And now we have the quantum realm playing a big part.

Galactus appearing, Doom ruling Latveria, public superheroes (she hulk) living amongst us...

I couldn't think of a better sandbox for the first family to play in.

@Vigor -
Even so I'm not sure how I feel about opening with Galactus as the first big bad for them. It's like having your John Thomas all the way out when you pick up your date. How about starting with a nice Mole Man or some such. We will get to Galactus in due time.

Make Mine Marvel!

Even though he is a bit older...I would LOVE to see them cast Claes Bang as Dr. Doom. He would absolutley kill that role and would bring a gravitas few othr actors could.

@Forthas - I'd go for Charlie Hunman for Doom myself.

@KWilly - @KWilly - Charlie Hunnam does not give off a villainous vide...Even though there are various iterations of Doom without his mask...not sure if Hunnam looks like any of the ones I have seen.

@BigPhilbowski - Totally agree! That role is what made me think of him.

Hunnam is one of my picks for either of the Riders Johnny or Danny.

I'm not saying he'll be wrong, but there's no way this dude knows about a post credit scene for a movie in 2025 that hasn't even started filming yet. I'm so tired of these "expert" scoopers.

@KWilly - This is the same guy who called Harrison Ford being Ross and Vision getting a show a day before it was announced. Not saying he is automatically right about everything but he has an extremely good track record in the last couple weeks. There's a lot shadier leakers you could go after.

Doom is thee supervillain, no need to rush to him. Doom should be set up in a way where he’s established to stick around for a long time, like one of the premier heroes. Doom doesn’t necessarily need his own movie, but one doesn’t just end Doom’s arc at the end of a saga. Doom perseveres.

@PlusUltra - yeah, he should be pulling strings for one or 2 phases at least.

@PlusUltra - I would love to see Doom and Strange save Doom's mother. Whereas they turned Loki into a hero, I would like them to show both sides of Doom (a hero to his people) but he's still a villain. Doom should be the next Loki
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 10/28/2022, 2:50 PM
@Fogs - true. If not executed well enough, it could just end up feeling like a retcon Doom was behind something. Even if it was the plan from the start
Fogs
Fogs - 10/28/2022, 2:57 PM
@ager - This is the absolutely best story, right after his intro. This will humanize and give solid backstory to Doom, something that we need to admit was a point to be improved on Thanos' arc, which had to be corrected in Infinity War (masterfully, that is).

We'd then have a fleshed-out villain, with his intelligence and mystic arts knowledge stablished, and as a bous would show Mephisto in all his glory so everyone would be happy!

I've been mentioning this story, from Triumph and Torment, for a while, with the plus of retconning Kaecilius as Victor ;) - Hey, we don't know a lot about his past anyway, he's deformed now, and knows his magic.

@bkmeijer1 - that's exactly the point.

The current word online is that his formerly leaked scene has been scrapped for a Latveria namedrop instead, due to the role still not having been cast.

I mean, I get why they had to postpone, but it still kinda stings...

@DrReedRichards - Maybe it has something to do with those Adam Driver rumors (which wouldn't be a bad thing). They could be reshooting the Wakanda Forever scene right now or have recently shot it and are holding it back for WF's worldwide release.

@ObserverIO -

Driver is an insanely talented get for Marvel. I can definitely see him as Victor, especially since he's already played the whole hooded masked wizard warrior before (which is extra funny when you consider that Vader himself was inspired by Doom in the first place), but I would by no means complain if was cast as Reed either!

@DrReedRichards - I’m there with you. Doom is one of my favorites.

@DrReedRichards - driver was a great villain in star wars, the best part in the trilogy by a substantial measure, but it's actually his performance in last duel that makes me think he could be GOAT level as doom - he imbues that role with so much charm & charisma in one chapter, and just pure evil & malice in another.

that said he could be a great reed too. dude can just do anything lol. just wish the f4 crew was more qualified
tmp3
tmp3 - 10/28/2022, 8:03 AM
lol this post reminded me that driver's gonna be in the white noise movie by baumbach. idk how that's gonna work, even as a big fan of the cast/crew & delillo, i feel like the book doesn't really lend itself to adaptation.

@tmp3 -

The one thing that irks me in TLD was Scott's choice to present Commer's angle as the definitive truth, instead of leaving it up to the audience's interpretation. Other than that, it's a criminally slept-on film.

He has the range and the guts to do it from behind a mask. Doom is all voice and body language with the eyes behind the mask as well. It's a helluva challenge.
ObserverIO

Secret Wars is 2026, right? We need an established rivalry between Reed and Doom before then, I would think.
SeanMPC
SeanMPC - 10/28/2022, 8:09 AM
@ObserverIO - That's only if they were straight adapting the 2015 Secret Wars exactly, which it doesn't seem like they will. I'm guessing it'll be more an adaption of the original secret wars with elements of the newer one (multiverse, incursions, etc) thrown in.
ObserverIO

@SeanMPC - Oh man, you gotta have god-emperor Doom.
