Hey, Remember That Debunked FANTASTIC FOUR Synopsis? It Might Be Legit

20th Century Fox has been asking websites to remove a purported synopsis about their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Same synopsis that director Josh Trank "debunked" just a few weeks ago.

Hey, remember that silly Fantastic Four synopsis that first appeared on Acting Auditions? You know, the same one that Josh Trank "debunked" a little over a week ago on Twitter:

20th Century Fox has sent out a stream of "cease and desist" letters to websites that had posted it. That would imply that the purported synopsis isn't quite as fictitious as Trank made it seem. That synopsis in question can still be found online (click here).

Den of Geek has responded to Fox's letter:
In spite of Josh Trank debunking the Fantastic Four reboot synopsis we ran in the story as false, we've now had a letter from lawyers acting for Fox, saying that "It has come to our attention that you have posted a purported plot details from the Fox Property on your website", adding that "These purported plot details provide important qualitative details about character, plot, setting and mood, thereby violating Fox's rights in the copyrights to the screenplay of the Fox Property".

Well: if they're not true, then Fox has no legal jurisdiction over them. So what we originally thought to be false now appears to be partly confirmed at least, as a result of well-paid lawyers demanding their removal.

This would be yet another Josh Trank denial that doesn't hold water. The director has made it a habit, tweeting denials to various Fantastic Four rumors that later turned out to be true. A few examples: the Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller casting rumors. It was reported that Michael B. Jordan was in the running for Human Torch/Johnny Storm, which Trank denied, but since then various trades have confirmed Jordan's involvement and view him as a lock for the part. Then there was the Miles Teller rumor claiming that the actor had auditioned for Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards. Trank swiftly tweeted a denial to that, but since then reliable news sites have stated that Teller is very much in the mix for the part.

Which brings us to Josh Gad ("Frozen"). Recently, Movies.com claimed that Gad was Fox's number one choice for the part of The Thing/Ben Grimm. Trank and Gad were quick to issue denials, but Movies.com stood by their story. So, factor in all of Trank's false denials, and I now have to believe that Gad actually is the top contender to be the Fantastic Four's orange, rock-covered superhero. It's clobberin' time? Ugh!

It's either the TRUE Synopsis or Fox just don't want people to think that's true as it REALLY SUCKS and could "hurt" the future movie...

The Trank account isn't even verified,
so people should take it with a pinch of salt anyway.

I'm in complete agreement! Let the rights revert back to Marvel!

My only concern if rights do revert is that Marvel would need to start doing three movies a year so they can do justice to all the source material.

The a year Marvel! You can do it!

SPOILERS The Annihilation Wave invasion is the main focus of Fantastic Four in the Negative Zone; but Mole Man, Doctor Doom, and Annihilus are also part of the script. Harvey Elder discovers young Annihilus hiding in the Naica Crystal Caves on an island called Monster Isle. Scientists begin trading information and advanced alien weaponry ignoring the dangers, but when Annihilus starts killing scientists, Doom and Reed build this hi-tech armor to defeat him. Reed gets expelled because the face-plate he designed ends up scarring Viktor's face, so Doom goes to Monster Island but is no match for Annihilus and he gets sent through a portal, Viktor winds up drifting thru subspace for an eternity. Franklin Storm's academy will be called Future Foundation in name only, they build a portal in Nevada on a mission to rescue Viktor, but NASA takes too long in transporting their space-shuttle, so the F4 grows impatient and experiments with the matter-transmitter device, of course resulting in the accident. When they go back to NYC under Baxter Building quarantine, they learn The Annihilation Wave is attacking from below the surface so Reed enlists the help of Mole Man to investigate the disturbances underground in NYC's Subway tunnels. Harvey had acquired a Tyannan spore-gun from Annihilus (it turns spores into bullets) so Reed & Harvey think to modify four handheld guns and use Cordyceps spores (Last of Us) which have devastating effects on insects. If I said anything more about the plot or plot devices FOX would jump outta the bushes and stab me. We know the CGI teams are working on an "exploding mushroom" special effect, because making insects explode with fungus is a really funny and spectacular thing to behold, it sounds strange but it really works for the screen. The Fantastic Four has never used sci-fi guns to battle swarms of evil bugs in the comics before, but it does take a page from Metroid: Prime and Halo: Combat Evolved. The four main superpowers still have renderings left over from the last films, so much of the focus has gone into crafting outer space and bug-splattering effects. It won't be a found-footage film, it will be a mockumentary in the same vein as District-9. The cast and supporting characters will be much bigger, though not as ambitious as its predecessor XM:DoFP I believe the 2005 one only had six main characters while now its closer to fifteen main actors.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but they should probably just let the rights revert back to Marvel Studios. Disney should throw a few bucks their way to get them to let the rights revert.
