Looks Like FANTASTIC FOUR Might Be Off To Romania For Reshoots - Will We See Latveria?

Earlier on we got our first official BTS look at Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, and now we have some information on where the production might be heading for those reshoots we've previously heard about. Will Romania double for Dr. Doom's comic book domain?

We know Fox's Fantastic Four reboot is scheduled for reshoots, but the film's writer Simon Kinberg said that only three to four days of “additional photography” were planned -- and that's not what Bleeding Cool have heard. According to them, more extensive reshoots are to take place all through next month, and they provide a bit of evidence to back this up. The following Tweets come from the head of the make-up department on the film, and the actor who will play Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Miles Teller.

is this confirmation that the production is off to shoot in Romania? Nah, but it must surely be considered some pretty convincing evidence -- unless Perez and Teller just happen to be starting work on another movie together, or have planned a little getaway. If Trank and co. are shooting additional scenes for Fantastic Four in Romania, what might their purpose for visiting this specific mountainous Central-European location be? Well, perhaps the negative backlash for Toby Kebbell's blogger villain, "Victor Domashev", prompted them to add a little more of the Marvel Comics Doctor Doom into the mix, and give the character his fictional Country of Latervia to rule in some capacity. That's just speculation of course, but it's a definite possibility. What do you guys make of all this?

This seems like a response to the backlash of Doom blogger. However I have a feeling these extensive reshoots are going to do more harm than good.

Just because it's in Latveria doesn't mean Doom is ruling Latveria.

If I were hypothetically writing a FF franchise starting with younglings, I would consider having Doom take over the country and then start enforcing a revisionist history that his family always ruled it, even though it's historically not true. Even constructing a detailed genealogy and "secret history" that explains why everyone else never knew about it before.

It's the kind of megalomaniacal thing that Doom would do.

Man [frick] this movie even if its a decent film its still not the definitive FF so [frick] the whole thing. NO MATTER WHAT. I will not pay to see this. No one should. Just let itflop man. then we will get what we want. same with spidey. if people would stop paying we could get the characters we deserve.

Only people complaining about this movie are MCU fanboys...

The general audience won't care if it doesn't resemble your "definitive" fantastic four.

As long as it's good it will still do well. This actually looks very worthy though and with Trank at the helm including the hard sci fi elements and what not it will be a dope ride.

Stop hating and actually watch some movies outside of your precious MCU for a change.

Geez, sometimes I wonder where you guys would be without it..

Hitler kept a journal. That's all a blog is.
Plus I doubt he'll be blogging once he gets his powers but it seems perfectly reasonable that a young up & coming scientific genius would keep blog in this day & age.

If Doom is sat in his castle, in costume, at the end of this movie updating his blog, I'm totally with you guys.

But don't forget that this is an origin. People on here went mad when they found out Prof.X would have hair & walk in First Class. But like Prof.X, Doom has to start somewhere.

I don't see how they're gonna turn a hacker code named DOOM into Dr. Doom or even anything remotely like him. I can see them using Romania as Latveria and giving him the backstory of an immigrant or him functioning in another country before coming to the US towards the end. I just wish we were getting actually Dr. Doom with castle doom, doombots
Something like in Ultimate Alliance

If this turns out good I hope they work out a deal where Marvel AT LEAST gets FF rights back so DR DOOM, SKRULLS and GALACTUS can be brought to the MCU

I'm sure the general public wouldn't have minded if Harry Potter or Frodo became post apocalyptic saviors either right? Or if James Bond became a Cronenberg-inspired killer? There's tampering and taking liberties with source material, and then there's change for the sake of change.
ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 1/27/2015, 1:40 AM
@DTo391

There's also comparing a long running franchise like Bond and two mega popular book series like LOTR & Harry Potter, both of which have established fanbases ranging in the millions if not dozens of millions to a barely relevant, low selling Marvel comic that has utterly failed to do anything besides being "the first Marvel family". Plus it has maybe a few thousand fanboys who're gonna slash their wrists because the movies are to quote "NOT LIEK DUR CLASSCICCZZZ!" while banging their heads against a wall.

But the general audience doesn't give one flying [frick] about Fantastic Four. In-fact, this movie turning out good and getting audience interest might be what makes F4 interesting to anyone outside of the core fanbase. So yeah, you're vastly overstating the "big audience" that'll be offended by F4 changes.
