Miles Teller Says THE FANTASTIC FOUR Director's Casting Decisions 'Took Lots Of Convincing'

"When I was filming That Awkward Moment with Michael B. Jordan, he knew he was playing the Human Torch at that point," said Miles Teller when MTV asked about The Fantastic Four casting process. "He and [director] Josh Trank really bonded on Chronicle, and they came up with the [casting idea]. I think it’s great. It is a big thing. You’re changing the race of a character. It’s like, ‘Why couldn’t the Human Torch be black?’ All these characters were spawned in this time that everything - the races, social awareness - was so one-sided and very tunnel vision." About his own Mr. Fantastic casting process, Miles Teller says, "I ended up meeting Josh a year before and the script was going through some stuff... Then I tested for the role of Reed Richards; I think I'm the only person that did. But absolutely, it took a lot of convincing. For me with Reed Richards, I know Josh [Trank] really had to [pull for me]. Josh did for all of the characters. For Jamie [Bell], he really vouched for [him]. For Mike, he was like, ‘This is my guy’ from the bat. He was very specific on who he wanted to play these characters. I was his guy for it." Miles Teller was then asked if it hard keeping things grounded. "What we're trying to do with this movie is to really show [the main characters] as people," he started. "Obviously, everyone knows them as the stretchy guy and this and that, and they throw the suits on. But hopefully we can show the people behind that." About his co-star Toby Kebbell, who plays the villains Victor Von Doom, Teller says , "I think are really going to dig what he did with it. He's a good actor!" Watch the video above for the full interview. What do you think?

50/50. This is my most anticipated CBM, only because I have no god damn clue how it's going to turn out.

He wasn't the only one tested. Actually, Trank was somewhat forced into choosing Miles Teller.

In no way does this movie have me excited. Everything I have heard and seen about this movie has not swayed my opinion, at all. Although, sometimes you just have to see it come to life, to really get it.

We haven't even heard from Nelson/ Mole Man!

BTW, was that casting officially announced?

I don't know why grounded is such a naughty term when literally 80% of CBM's are grounded to some degree.

I think a majority of FF fans will bashed the shit out of this movie no matter what.

But it's a chance the general audience(who matters the most) will probably like it this movie.

@MisterBatfleck

It is official though it's uncertain if he'll be Mole Man as a villain in the first film. They did something similar with him in Ultimate FF in that he started out as a disrespected scientist who was then eventually fired for his experiments. Something tells me with how much Ultimate FF inspires these films that'll be the route they take.

I hear the vibe is between the most recent Godziila and Interstellar (In terms of tone).

The Sam Raimi Spiderman movies were grounded in science and they were great. I feel thats more of a tone they're going towards.

What I liked about Chronicle was how character driven it was, the story, it's concept, and how it balanced super powers in the real world.

Like, I don't have a stake in this movie either way, if it's good it's good, and vice versa. That being said I hope this movie wins best picture at the oscars and redefines superheroes as a whole, and makes 2 billion dollars. That would be funny.
